In the Year of the Parish as Communion of
This is a year when we more deeply discern not only Communities
the structures of governance of our dioceses and
parishes but also of the quality of faith life in the
parish, the fellowship, belongingness, and
participation experienced by its members. In a special
way we shall probe into our efforts of making the
parish a communion of communities, a communion of
Basic Ecclesial Communities and of covenanted faith-
communities and ecclesial movements. We shall
discern and implement measures on how communities
of consecrated life may be more integrated into the life
and mission of the parish. In brief, our focus will be
the building of a parish that is truly a faith The Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life:
community immersed in the lives of its people. Towards a Greater Communion in the Church

Come, thou Holy Spirit!
Come, thou Holy Spirit, come, and from thy celestial
home shed a ray of light divine! Come, thou Father of
the poor! Come, thou Source of all our store!
Come, within our bosoms shine! Thou, of comforters
the best; thou, the souls most welcome guest; sweet
refreshment here below; in our labour, rest most
sweet; grateful coolness in the heat; solace in the
midst of woe.
O most blessed Light Divine, shine within these hearts
of thine, and our inmost being fill! Where thou art not,
man hath nought, nothing good in deed or thought,
nothing free from taint of ill.
Heal our wounds, our strength renew; on our dryness
pour thy dew; wash the stains of guilt away; bend the
stubborn heart and will; melt the frozen, warm the
chill; guide the steps that go astray.
On the faithful, who adore and confess thee, evermore
in thy sevenfold gift descend; give them virtues sure
reward give them thy salvation, Lord; give them joys
that never end.
