Lesson 29: Words That Sound and/or Look Alike But Have Different Meanings
During the 2016 presidential election there was an ambivalent8 vibe that left many voters
unsure whether to trust Hillary despite her email scandal or Trump, an inexperienced and racist
reality star. Although many of the rumors against both candidates were mere delusions9, it is
starting to become clear that Trump and his administration were in contact with Russia for
months leading up to Election Day. The ambigous7 situation started to clear up after the former
national security advisor to Trump, Michael Flynn, resigned for lying to vice president Pence and
the American people about not being in contact with Russia. This case and several others are an
allusion10 and indicator that there is something suspicious behind Trump and his ties with Russia
as it has also been confirmed that they helped the billionaire win the election.
Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has had time to convalesce4 following her
devastating lose on Election Day and shortly after Flynns resignation, she criticised him for
lying about his ties with Russia and for spreading fake news about her during the campaign.
Flynn and his son created an illusion11 that Clinton had ties to atheistic6 morals and child abuse in
a pizza place called Comet Ping Pong which was later proven to all be a hoax although it was an
acrid1 blow to her reputation. Despite the numerous scandals, Clinton has remained aesthetic5,
clam, and quiet for the most part as close sources state she does not feel comfortable engaging in
on the issue. Democrats are also beginning to coalesce3, urging the FBI to initiate an
investigation into Trumps connections with Russia since they feel it is unfair that they
investigated Clintons emails without a second thought. On the defense, president Trump has
only provided arid2, vague excuses claiming that Democrats are using this scandal as a sort of
