ACCA STUDY SCHOOL STUDY PROGRAMME

Recognising that you may already be following a structured programme of study with a
tuition provider, or using ACCAs Self-Study Guides1, Becker has structured this ACCA
Study School around the stages of study recommended by ACCA:

You should be able to easily incorporate into your studies the resources we are making
available to you.

1 LEARNING PHASE
Although your studies should be well underway you will find in the Resource Library:

Study Text Selected Sessions (see Note 1); and

Monitoring Tests 1 & 2 (see Note 2).

2 REVISION PHASE
This is a quick checklist of what you need to achieve during the revision phase:

This Study School will support you in completing this.

In registering for this Study School you will have automatically been booked a place on the
two Live Online Revision sessions. Note the dates of these on your study plan. If you do
not yet have a study plan see ACCAs Self Study Guides for advice on preparing one and
consider using the calendar provided in Appendix 1 at the end of this Study Programme.

In the Resource Library you will find the following materials to prepare for the live sessions:

Revision Question Bank Selected Questions and Answers (see Note 3); and
Revision Essentials Selected Sections (see Note 4).

ACCA STUDY SCHOOL STUDY PROGRAMME

If you are unable to attend the live sessions recordings will be able through the Resource
Library shortly afterwards and we strongly recommend that you listen to them.

Also in the Resource Library you will find recordings of previous Study School events.
These provide additional coverage of past exam questions. You may wish to refer to these
before the live sessions for a flavour of these events or later, for reinforcement of your
revision.

3 FINAL PREPARATION

Sitting a Mock Examination in the time allocated, without reference to study materials, is the
single most important element in preparing for the ACCA examination. We recommend
that you plan a date for this now on your study plan.

Attempting a Mock is not merely about obtaining a mark but practising examination
technique and time management, in particular.

In the Resource Library you will find:

An ACCA Approved Mock Examination Question Paper;

Answers and marking scheme2;
An exam review by a tutor which guides you through the points of exam technique and
the most difficult topics.

Attention! Attempt the mock under exam conditions.

Attempt the exam, in one sitting, in the time allowed (3 hours 15 minutes) and answer the
questions in full and to the best of your ability.

Do not look at your notes or other forms of possible assistance.

Do not look at the answers.

Only when you have completed your attempt, listen to the exam review lecture, paying
particular attention to the areas which you found difficult.

2
Will be available three working days after the second live online revision session.

ACCA STUDY SCHOOL STUDY PROGRAMME

Bearing in mind what you have learned from the review, compare your attempt against the
answers provided to identify any topics or techniques that you should revise further and use
the marking scheme to determine a mark for your attempt.

After sitting it, it is important to reflect on the experience. Did you feel time-pressured? On
which topics did you feel most/least confident? Whilst there is a certain degree of comfort
to be obtained in attempting further questions on a topic which you understand well, the
majority of your study time remaining before the examination should be devoted to
questions on topic areas in which you are weakest.

Finally, take a look at the Exam Tips, which you will find in the Resource Library (available
Tuesday 24th May). The word tip has many meanings and Beckers exam tips offer the
advice of our subject matter experts. They are not a recipe for question spotting, which is
not possible for skills level examinations (e.g. Section A covers all topics) and is an extremely
dangerous strategy for professional level examinations!

NOTES

(1) Study Text Selected Sessions

We recommend that you approach each session in the following way:

Look at its coverage (using the Focus and Visual Overview pages). If you have already
studied these topics and feel confident about your knowledge and understanding you
may like to start with the end-of-session Quiz and use the text as reference.

For topics that are new to you refer to the Session Guidance at the bottom of the Focus
and visual Overview Pages before working through the session. You should expect to
spend two hours or more, on average, working through each session.

Attempt the end-of-session Quiz to test your assimilation of knowledge.

Refer to the sections (cross-referenced) to check your answers.

(2) Monitoring Tests 1 & 2

These tests will help you to assess your Learning Phase knowledge and understanding
before progressing to the Revision Phase. We recommend the following approach:

Attempt Test 1 in the allocated time (1 hours) without reference to notes or other
study support.
Review your answers against the model answers using the marking scheme provided.
Refer back to your Study Text, as necessary, to review any topics which caused you
difficulty.
Repeat for Test 2.

(3) Revision Question Bank Selected Questions and Answers

Exam-standard question practice is vital at this stage. Although these questions will be
reviewed during the live sessions we strongly recommend that you attempt them in
advance of the sessions. This will help you to identify points of uncertainty that you should
look to be clarified during the live session. Refer to the contents pages of the Revision
Question Bank Selected Questions and Answers pdf in the Resource Library:

Questions highlighted in yellow will be covered on the first live online event;
Questions highlighted in green will be covered on the second live online event.

(4) Revision Essentials Selected Sections

Note-taking during the learning phase helps many students to acquire knowledge and be
able to recall it in the examination. It can be helpful to refer to notes after you have
attempted a question for points that you might have missed in your answer or to
understand why you made certain errors.

Selected sections of Beckers Revision Essentials are included in the Resource Library to
supplement your own notes. We recommend that you review these between the two live
online revision sessions.
