Re: Pending NY State Leisure and Recreation Act (S-4592A & A-6525A)

Dear Senator Ritchie and Assemblywoman Jenne:

On behalf of the Alexandria Bay Chamber of Commerce, we would like to thank you both for
your tireless efforts on behalf of our businesses and residents. We are especially grateful for your
efforts directed towards the North Country tourism industry, which is such a vital segment of our
local economy.

At our most recent Board of Directors meeting, we voted unanimously in favor of sending this
letter of support to you both for your sponsorships of the current Leisure and Recreation District
Act. We feel that this type of forward-thinking legislation will allow communities across the
State to better position themselves with more creative offerings and events in the competitive
travel and leisure industry.

On behalf of all communities affected by the current problems with the high water in Lake
Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, this type of legislation cannot come too soon to help us with
what will most certainly be a challenging summer season.

We would also ask what we may do, if anything, to help move this reasonable and well-
conceived Act through the system to allow for immediate implementation.
