Learning Emergency equipped

Calvin Prep School in Burgersfort held their
annual Entrepreneurs Day on Friday last
week.
The learners worked hard to set up their
stalls offering different products or services to
their fellow students.
The learners do this as part of their practical
experience in learning business principals
and working with money.
Mangabane Primary School learners partic-
ipated in a campaign aimed at empowering

emergency numbers.
The theme was THE POWER OF KNOWL-
EDGE.
Emergency Medical Services (Dilokong), the
Fire Department and the Burgersfort SAPS
shared with the learners all the important
information they need to know in case of an
emergency.
As it was also child protection week and
learners were given extensive knowledge

about how to access their nearest police
services and procedures regarding the
reporting of abuse cases and many more.
The day was filled with many activities as
the guests also took time to demonstrate
the use of their equipment for the learners.

Masters face-off

On Saturday 3 June the Ledwaba/Makotse Masters

hosted Tubatse Masters for friendly soccer matches.
The matches took place in Makotse village just outside
Lebowakgomo.
Both teams played two matches. In the first match Tu-
batse Masters managed to win 1-0 from a goal by Tomas
Lubisi. In the second match Ledwaba/Makotse Masters
managed to score four goals by Johny Ledwaba (2) and
Ezekiel Lekganyane (2). Then Pitso Sehlabela scored
one goal for Tubatse Masters to make the final score 4-1
in favour of Ledwaba/Makotse Masters.

Beware of internet cafs
offering illegal gambling
In unprecedented court proceedings several
illegal gamblers have had their unlawfully
obtained gambling winnings confiscated and
forfeited to the State. The unlawful winnings
to the amount of approximately R1,250,000
were derived from illegal gambling activities
specifically online gambling.
The National Gambling Board is the national
regulator in the gambling industry in South Af-
rica and in terms of Section 16 of the National
Gambling Act, 2004 is obliged to investigate
the circumstances of illegal gambling activi-
ties including illegal online gambling.
Ms Caroline Kongwa, the Accounting Author-
ity of the National Gambling Board empha-
sises that besides the forfeiture of unlawful
winnings in favour of the state, the punters
who partake in illegal gambling activities are
liable for criminal prosecution.
The public is hereby cautioned to be weary of
online gambling offerings, as online gambling
is illegal in South Africa, and thus anyone
participating in any illegal online gambling
activity would be unable to receive any win-
nings and would expose themselves to criminal
prosecution.
Citizens caught gambling illegally or running
an illegal gambling establishment such as
internet cafes that provide illegal online gam-
bling will be targeted and they will face criminal
charges or a hefty fine to the maximum of R10
million or both.
She emphasises that the NGBs role and man-
date is to protect the public. She appeals to the
public to report websites which advertise online
gambling and establishments (especially those
disguised as internet cafes) in South Africa
which offer online gambling and other illegal
gambling activities to the public
Kongwa also encourages the public to be
vigilant to distinguish between licensed and
unlicensed gambling operators and be aware
of what constitutes an unlawful gambling activ-

The Comrades Marathon that took place
on Sunday last week saw thousands of
athletes competing. Many participate to
raise awareness for a specific cause.

Silver medal for Dwarsrivier Mine

Ulta-Marathon that took place on Sun-
day, 4 June 2017. This race is known as the
ul mate test in human endurance and takes
place between Pietermaritzburg and Durban
annually. This year the race was won by Bong-
musa Mthembu in a me of 05:35:34.
