Software Installation Instructions

Upgrading a device from an


071.010.xxx.xxxxx version to an
073.010.xxx.xxxxx version

How to determine your starting version


These instructions use CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS) to upgrade a
machine from an 071.xxx version to an 073.xxx version.

There are 4 parts to upgrading from an 071.xxx version to an 073.xxx version:


1) Required - Install pre-upgrade patch 729999v3.dlm
2) Required - Install software version 0720.010.004.09100.
3) Required - Install pre-upgrade patch 788101v2.dlm.
4) Required - Install the 073.010.xxx.xxxxx software version.
5) Optional Check User Permissions for Email and WorkFlow Scanning.

It is important to follow these steps in order to ensure the machine retains its
current configuration settings once the upgrade is completed.
The upgrade requires the submission of 3 separate files and could take up to 2
hours to complete.

Determine your version
1. Find your device IP address and software version.
a. Press the Machine Status button.

b. On the Machine Information tab, press the Information Pages button.

c. Select Configuration Report, and then press the Print button.

d. Find your System Software Version under the section titled Common User Data.

2. Record the IP address: ____________________.


3. Record the software version: _______________________.
ALERT! Print and keep a configuration report for reference until after the software update
has been completed.

Important
Unzip all files. A folder called WorkCentre_7830-35_1.0-2.0 will be created. See page 6 for
extract instructions.
Make sure A4 or Letter paper is loaded in at least one tray.

Part 1- Install Pre-upgrade patch 729999v3.dlm


You must use the pre-upgrade patch to ensure all settings are retained successfully.
Open a new Web Browser window and enter the WorkCentres IP Address, using the format
"http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx".
1. Select the Properties tab located at the top of the page.
2. A Login screen may be displayed, use the System Administrators username and password.

3. Select the General Setup option, then select Software Upgrade.


4. If Software Upgrade is disabled, it will need to be enabled. Check the Enabled box and select
Apply.

5. Select Manual Upgrade.

6. Select the Browse button, locate the folder WorkCentre_7830-35_1.0-2.0, and then select open.
7. Locate and select the 729999v3.dlm, and then select Open.
8. Select the Install Software button and within a few moments a pop up message File has been
submitted appears. Select OK.
If you get a printed sheet with the message This patch is not intended for this software version
and was not installed, ensure the device has an 071.xxx.xxx.xxxxx version installed.

The patch is successfully installed when the Network Controller version shows .729999v3 appended.

9. Open a new Web Browser window and enter the WorkCentres IP Address, using the format
"http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx".
10. Select the Properties tab located at the top of the page.
11. A Login screen may be displayed, use the System Administrators username and password.

12. Select the General Setup option, then select Machine Software.
13. Ensure Upgrade is enabled. Select Upgrades. If needed, select the Enabled box and then select
Apply.

14. Select Manual Upgrade if not already on that web page.
15. Select the Browse button, and then locate the file WorkCentre_7830-35-system-
sw#07201000409100#.DLM.
16. Select the file, and then select Open.
17. Select the Install Software button and within a few minutes a pop up message File has been
submitted appears.
Note: Do not navigate from the Web Browser during the file transferring process. It could take
several minutes for the file to send before you receive the confirmation window.
18. Select OK.
Note: Software Installation will begin several minutes after the software file has been submitted to
the machine. Once Installation has begun all Internet Services from this machine will be lost,
including this Web User Interface. The installation progress can be monitored from the Local UI.
The machine SW Install process may take up to 45-60 minutes.
The machine will automatically reboot and a Software Upgrade Report will be printed after the
software upgrade is complete.

Part 2 - Install Pre-upgrade patch 788101v2.dlm


You must use the pre-upgrade patch to ensure all settings are retained and that weblets work
correctly after the upgrade.
19. Before attempting to install the next file, you must either close and reopen the browser or select
Logout in the upper right. When presented with the Login window, enter the admin login
credentials then continue to next step.
20. Select the Properties tab located at the top of the page.
21. Select the General Setup option, then select Software Upgrade.
22. Select Manual Upgrade.

23. Select the Browse button, locate the folder WorkCentre_7830-35_1.0-2.0, and then select open.
24. Locate and select the file 788101v2.dlm then select Open.
25. Select the Install Software button and within a few moments a pop up message File has been
submitted appears. Select OK.
26. If you get a printed sheet with the message This patch is not intended for this software version
and was not installed, ensure the device has a 072.xxx.xxx.xxxxx version installed.
The patch is successfully installed when the Network Controller version shows .788101v2 appended.

Part 4 - Install Upgrade File WorkCentre_7830-35-

27. Before attempting to install the next file, you must either close and reopen the browser or select
Logout in the upper right. When presented with the Login window, enter admin login credentials
then continue to next step.
28. Select the Properties tab located at the top of the page.
29. Select the General Setup option, then select Software Upgrade.
30. Select Manual Upgrade.
31. Select the Browse button and locate the DLM firmware file (WorkCentre_7830-35-system-
sw#073010xxxxxxxx#.DLM) -- >
32. Select the Install Software button and within a few minutes a pop up message File has been
submitted appears.
Note: Do not navigate from the Web Browser during the file transferring process. It could take
several minutes for the file to send before you receive the confirmation window.
33. Select OK.

Part 5 (Optional) Check User Permissions are locked
as expected.
This part is only applicable if your device had individual services locked and required the user to login
for access to the services. If All Services were locked, then the device will not have this issue.
If prior to upgrade the device had User Permissions for Email and WorkFlow Scanning set to Not
Allowed for Non Logged In Users, the settings may have been lost and is now set to Allowed for Non
Logged In Users.
To reset these values perform the following steps. You can also perform these steps, then make a
clone file of just the Access & Accounting / Authentication & Authorization Configuration settings in
order to apply to other machines.
1) Open a new Web Browser window and enter the WorkCentres IP Address, using the format
"http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx".
2) Select the Properties tab located at the top of the page.
3) A Login screen may be displayed, use the System Administrators username and password.

4) Select the Login / Permissions / Accounting option, then select User Permissions.
5) Select Edit for the User Permission Roles.

6) For the Non-Logged In Users setting, select Edit.

7) Select Services & Tools, then scroll to Workflow Scanning and Email. Ensure that each service is
set correctly. The setting Not Allowed means the user has to log in before they can access the
service. If you previously had this set to Not Allowed and it is now set to Allowed. Select the Not
Allowed setting for each service as appropriate, then select Apply.

How to extract files from the .ZIP
1. Right click on the software zip file and select Extract All

2. Select Browse, then select Desktop, and then click Ok.

3. Click on Extract. After the extraction, a folder called WorkCentre_7830-35_1.0-2.0 will appear
on the desktop with all the files required for the upgrade.
