Overview
USD64.1bn of deals tracked in Q1 2017, a 211.2% increase from USD20.6bn in Q1 2016
2,098 deals tracked from public sources in Q1 2017, an increase from 1,013 in Q1 2016
Average deal value for investments increased to USD45.2m in Q1 2017, from USD20.0m in Q1 2016
Average deal value for acquisitions increased to USD283.1m in Q1 2017, from USD229.9m in Q1 2016

Deals by region

Asia/Pacific leads all regions with an average deal value of USD184.8m. North America comes second at USD45.8m
Average deal values have increased largely in Asia/Pacific (520.3%). Average deal values also increased in regions of
Middle East (95.7%), South America (59.0%), North America (38.9%), and Europe (26.1%). However, Rest of World has
decreased (29.0%)
Asia/Pacific leads the world in average deal values for investments at USD185.4m
North America leads the world in average deal values for acquisitions at USD398.7m

Deals by sector

The number of deals increased in all sectors. Hardware & Infrastructure had the most increase at 191.4%
Total deal values increased significantly in the Hardware& Infrastructure (3840.8%) and Media (708.7%) sectors. Total
deal values also increased in Software & Services (154.6%), Transactions (79.2%), Marketing (19.5%), and Mobile &
Applications (15.8%) sectors. Conversely, total deal values decreased in Games (34.3%) and Ecommerce (17.6%) sectors
Average deal values for acquisitions increased significantly in Transactions (414.9%) and Media (261.2%) sectors.
Software & Services (36.2%) also increased. All other sectors saw a decline in average deal values for acquisitions
