Proposal

1. Presentation of topic.
It will be in the 21st century, and I will be looking at around 3 to four
geographical places: China (Uighurs), Russia (Chechen), Myanmar (Rohingya),
and France.
2. Research question. One sentence, what are you trying to find out?
- Whats the contemporary common social experience of Muslims in different
geographical spaces?
3. Thesis: between 2 to 4 lines.
In the 21st century, there are convergences and divergences of Muslims life
according to their geographical location. They may hold the title of a
Muslim, but it all depends whether they live in a developed country, a
conservative country, or laic country.
The topic will be approached by studying Muslims from different countries:
China, Russia, Myanmar, and France.
4. Disciplines
Politic, Cultural/Sociological (History of), and Psychological
There is politics, cultural/sociological, and psychological issues in a country to
determine the fate of Muslims inside of it.
5. Concepts/theories/events:
- Discrimination: According to my research, there are civil discriminations in some
countries, which Id like to further research.
- Justice/Injustice: How being a Muslim affects your rights or justice inside a Country.
- Political and economic systems: Study Muslims economical situation and privilege
- Violence: See if Muslims are subjects to violence.
- Learning perspective: How being a Muslim in one of these countries affect your
intellectual capacities, or if they have the opportunity for education.
- Cognitive perspective: What are the behaviors of Muslims in these countries, subject
of one of these concepts.
These six concepts are relative to my study because I am going to study how each
country treats Muslims according to them.
