Committee: Immigration
Immigration is important because it is becoming a problem that deserves to be addressed. Saudi Arabia
is accepting refugees in the country when they are being rejected by other countries. The United States is
accepting only a limited amount of refugees and banning other predominantly Muslim countries for safety
from ISIS, specifically. This is a problem because this shows the rest of the world that stereotypes can be true.
As mentioned earlier, refugees are allowed in Saudi Arabia. When the representative of Saudi Arabia
announced that Syrians are allowed in the country there were already about 500,000 Syrian refugees in the
country.
The graph above shows the crude net migration rate at a high during 2015 then settling. The migration rate of
people moving in and out of Saudi Arabia happened around the time of the Syrian refugee crisis in 2015. As
time progresses the migration rate begins to go down meaning less people are moving in and out. The graph
above also shows future predictions of very few people moving from and to the country.
This is a very big problem in Saudi Arabia because the country has a rapidly growing population, a
Saudi Arabia news site voices the concerns of overpopulation and why it can lead to greater problems. An
article written in 2014, published by Al Arabian Network says, it has become clear that the rapid growth of

cities and the increase in their population along with the failure to provide adequate sewage services, water and
electricity are bound to cause environmental problems. This news article shows some of the dangers of
allowing so many people into the country. Saudi Arabia hasnt banned anyone from entering the country and
dont have strict requirements (appropriate visa that applies to your trip and a passport) for entering the country
but still have rising issues due to all of the people entering.
Saudi Arabia has not taken any steps to solving the problem though theyve addressed what it could lead
to, there arent any solutions that have been announced or vocalized. Overpopulation is approaching rapidly
within the country even though it has not become a main issue, the population is increasing.
Referring back to that graph shown earlier, it shows the rate at which people entering and leaving the
country has been predicted to go down and stabilize over the course of a few years in the future. The peak that
begins in the year 2015 shows how much the population increased during the Syrian refugee crisis.
Saudi Arabia works with many international organizations, one of them is AEFSD which stands for
Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development which helps develop economic and social developments in
Arab states. This helps build a community of people as well as their environment. This helps the immigration
problem by creating less of a divide among people. Saudi Arabia is helping other Arab states build an
Immigration policies in Saudi Arabia are very brief. There are very few things you need to enter the
country. By making immigration policies easier to surpass, it makes people entering the country a lot easier.
Creating a community of people considered as equals also comes with more people entering the country which
When looking at the main issue of overpopulation due to travel bans and people immigrate into Saudi
Arabia. Saudi Arabia could restrict immigration policies so less people enter or keep their policies the same so
more refugees continue to enter which would solve the problem of people rejecting refugees from their country.
Saudi Arabia would like everyone to be treated as equal. In Saudi Arabia, Syrians are still not classified
as refugees but as normal people. The UN could contribute to this by making immigration policies less strict

A creative idea would be to restrict immigration laws and open up more countries for people to migrate
to and find homes in. That is the main goal of my countrys position, my country carries brief policies, doesnt
consider Syrians refugees and will continue letting people in though the concerns of the environment are still
active.
