What key roles play principles play in integrating technology in schools.?

Purpose of the research:


(a) What are principals perceptions of the
importance of technology? And
(b) Do principals perceptions of technology differ by years of
experience and gender?

METHODOLOGY
What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants:
310 principals from a large metropolitan area in the southwest region of
the United States
Procedures:
A cognitive interview questionnaire is asked to principals.
Data Collection Methods/Data Source:
The questionnaire was administered by graduate students in the Educational
Leadership program
at a major, urban doctoral-granting university located in the south central
region of the U.S
Data Analysis:
Analysis began with began with a process of data reduction, The data was
then coded into meaningful categories
A 10% sample of responses to determined the consistency of the coding. The
inter-coder reliability results revealed a high level of agreement

RESULTS

Findings or Results (or main points of the article):


a. One third of principles said technology is used primarily as
communication tool.
b. 28 percent saw it as instruction tool.
c. 14 percent reported technology as data sharing and managing tool.
d. 15 percent used technology as finding the data and resources.
e. 10 percent accepted it as Administrative task establishment tool .
f. 10 percent reported technology as student learning tool.

DISCUSSIONS

Conclusions/Implications (for your profession):


The perception of technology by principles plays a crucial role in implementing
technology to schools, and the experience and gender also may play a role in
determining the perception of principles.

REFLECTIONS
Students Reflections (changes to your understanding; implications for your
school/work): I was looking only from usage of it inside the classroom and from
point of student usage and classroom point of view.This article showed me the
other point of views how technology is changing the culture of schools from
different usage areas, how it can have different impacts to a schools
atmosphere
