TEACHER TIPS

After reading the book aloud, go back and, as a class, identify all
of the size words (e.g., giant, tiny, small ). Brainstorm other words
that describe size.

Introduce the concept of perspective and how something that may

seem small to one person (or one bear!) can seem large to another.

Have students bring in a favorite stuffed animal. Invite them to

compare and classify their toys based on size and other defining
characteristics. Then ask them to arrange the animals from
smallest to largest.
