TEACHER TIPS
THE WOLF, THE DUCK
& THE MOUSE
After reading the book together, discuss the idea of being afraid of something and
then having it happen. Ask students whether they have ever experienced this and
whether it was as bad as they had imagined it would be.

A pourquoi story explains why something is the way it is. What does this story
explain? Make a class list of other such stories, then have your students write their
own pourquoi tales.

Ask your students if they can think of another fairy tale or folk tale in which a wolf
appears. How about a duck? A mouse? A hunter?

The wolf was helped by the mouse and

the duck. Have students consider the
wolfs point of view and write down what
they imagine he thinks of their final
arrangement.
