Features of the Graduate Programs

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING

(Major in Soil and Water Management)

The Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Engineering program has been drawn up heavily from past
experiences and the technologies developed in Philippine setting. Graduates of this program are
expected to provide the leadership in developing new technologies for soil and water resources
utilization and conservation applicable to local and global situations.

The Ph.D. graduates shall have similar outcomes as the M.S. graduates, with more emphasis on a
deeper understanding of problem formulation (to be able to recognize and formulate problem
statements) and higher mathematical skills. In particular, graduates shall be able to independently
conduct original research at and beyond the boundaries of current state of the art. Graduates must
have a background in a different discipline through selection of a minor area, so that they can be
incorporated into interdisciplinary research teams. In addition, Ph.D. graduates should be ready to
pursue academic careers.
