Colman Dock ferry access changes coming soon


Vehicle access patterns change as early as June 26
Washington State Ferries (WSF) will be Vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian access
implementing new vehicle access lanes at
Seattles Colman Dock as early as June 26. This
beginning as early as June 26
change is to prepare for upcoming construction
to replace the aging and seismically-vulnerable
terminal. These new vehicle access lanes will be
in place for approximately one year. Stay tuned
for more information on additional changes to
Colman Dock access as construction ramps up
later this summer.

What is changing A
The area in front of Colman Dock between
Madison Street and Yesler Way will become
vehicle lanes for ferry access and queuing B
Most drivers will enter Colman Dock from
northbound Alaskan Way under the viaduct
or via westbound Madison Street
The northbound left lane under the viaduct
will be marked for ferry access only
Right turns into the queuing area from
southbound Alaskan Way at Madison Street
may be restricted during peak travel times
Trucks over 40 feet must enter Colman Dock
from northbound Alaskan Way at Yesler Way
Vanpools and motorcycles can also enter
Colman Dock from northbound Alaskan Way
at Yesler Way
Pick-up and drop-off spaces will be available
on the west side of Alaskan Way under
the viaduct between Marion and Columbia
streets
Uniformed police officers and WSF staff will
direct traffic during peak travel times

Passenger-only ferry access will not change Three-minute pick-up and drop-off spaces inside the new queuing area will be
Driver exits from Colman Dock remain at available during limited hours, typically:
Yesler Way or Marion Street Monday to Friday before 3 p.m. and after 7 p.m.
Saturdays before 9 a.m. and after 3 p.m.
Sundays all day
Learn about construction at open houses in June
Key components of Colman Dock are aging and vulnerable to earthquakes and need to be replaced. Major construction
begins August 2017 and will continue through early 2023. Colman Dock will remain in operation during construction and no
WSF sailings will be cut.

Project staff will be available at the following outreach events to answer questions and gather feedback.
