Cabling Principles
Principles The following are the basic principles before using and installing
cables.
Confirm cable specifications, quantity, and models according
to construction design and contract.
Check cables for physical damage.
Check quality certificates, such as ex-factory record and
quality warranty.
Route and position cables according to constructional design.
Cabling Bundling
Cable Bundling Bundle cables in sequence near plugs. Avoid bending the cables.
Technique Figure 63 shows cables bundling technique. To keep cables
straight and vertical to the ground, use binding ties in an equal
distance.

Optical Fiber
Introduction Optical fiber cables consist of one or more fiber glasses, which
act as wave guides for the optical signals.
Cable Optical fiber connects with ATI transmission system card. Each
Connection fiber tail needs label to identify receiving transmission optical
Steps interface.
Follow these steps during optical fiber connection:
Ensure connector pin positioning is suitable for coupler slot
positioning.
Avoid making turns while laying fiber tails.
Ensure that fiber is properly bent, so that fiber tail cannot
move freely.
Keep optical fiber surface free from other cables.
Use protection tube for fibers.
Ensure connector pin positioning is suitable for coupler slot
positioning.
Connect the tail of optical fiber to transmitting/receiving
interface of the optical card.
Lay the optical fibers in either upward or downward wiring
mode in the cabinet or through the Optical Distribution
Frame (ODF) and tail fibers.
Cabinet is also configured with the optical fiber cabling plug-
in box (1U) placed under the box at transmission layer,
where the redundant tail fibers are placed.
Label each tail fiber to identify the receiving and transmitting
interfaces.

Hardware Installation
Inspection
Overall Inspection
Overall inspection includes the following topics:
Cabinet Inspection
Cabling Inspection
Shelf Power Supply Inspection
Cards Power Inspection
Cabinet Inspection
Description Cabinet inspection refers to assessment of the installed cabinet.
This inspection includes the following:
Cabinet installation must fulfill the design drawing
requirements.
The cabinet must be installed in horizontal and in upright
direction; vertical deviation must not be greater than 3 mm.
Ensure all cabinet pars are in good condition.
Label on the cabinet should be clear and complete.
Cabinet must be shockproof.
Shelf must be fixed firmly.
Cabling Inspection
Cabling inspection refers to assessment of the installed cables.
Description This inspection includes the following checks:
Check the cable connectors on backplane and ensure they
are tightly connected.
Power cables, subscriber cables and other cables are
separately wired.
Cable turns must be smooth and external curves must keep
vertical or horizontal in straight line.
Optical tail fibbers must bind well in cabinet without pressing
each other.
Sleeves protection should be provided to tail fiber.
Cabling channels installation position must meet the
construction drawings requirements. If there is any deviation,
it should not be less then and equal to 50 mm.
Cables can be left unbound but they must be lay down
straight and smooth without any crossover. The cables must
be fixed with plastic cable ties.
Power ON
Purpose Perform this power ON procedure to power ON the equipment.
Steps Perform the following steps for power ON procedure:
1. Ensure that all switches are in OFF position.
2. Pull out all cards.
3. Check the busbar to ensure that there is no short circuit
between power supply (-48 V) and the ground (GND, GNDP,
and -48 V GND).
4. Check the primary power supplies voltage range in case of
zero load.
5. Turn ON the power distribution box. If found any abnormality,
immediately shut down the power supply and check it.
6. Turn ON the rectifier and check (-48 V) voltage range of each
shelf.
7. Insert POWER H card and turn ON the rectifier, if found any
fault immediately shut down power supply and check it.
END OF STEPS
Result Equipment is powered ON.
Power OFF
Purpose Perform this power OFF procedure to normally power OFF the
equipment.
Steps Perform the following steps for power OFF procedure:
1. Turn OFF secondary power switches of POWER H card.
2. Turn OFF switches of transmission plug-in shelf and EPM.
3. Turn OFF the rectifier power switch.
4. Turn OFF the power distribution box.
5. At the end, turn OFF the power switch (outside the cabinet).

Maintenance
Daily Maintenance
Description For equipment reliability, daily maintenance is important which
takes the equipment to the best possible state for long term.
The maintenance procedures are as follows:
Protect power supply from dust. Ensure that the dust
particles concentration with width over 5 m should be 3
104 particles/m3. Keep the power supply and the cabinet
clean.
Check power system parameters to avoid abnormal system
status.
Check lightning protectors every month, incase of improper
functioning replace it immediately.
Check fuses on monthly basis and keep standby fuses for
replacement in case of finding any faulty fuse.
Check all the cables and make sure that they are in good
condition, in case of any damage cables replace it in time.
Rectifier Plugging
Purpose Perform this procedure to plug-in the rectifier into the cabinet.
Steps Steps for plugging the rectifier are:
Hold handle with one hand and support rectifier with the

Special Faults
Special faults cover the following topics:
AC Power Down
AC Over/Under Voltage
AC Power Down
Introduction The AC power down is a common fault during running of power
system. If the power down period is short, use the battery to
supply DC power. If the power down period lasts for long time or
power down reason is unclear, use a generator to provide power.
ZXDU45 The AC power of ZXDU45 system does not supports two way
System main power input supply. In case of using generator, it is
required to take changeover between main supply and generator
before providing external AC input.
AC Over/Under Voltage
AC Over When the AC voltage upper limit is set to 280 V, then the
Voltage monitoring unit will give an alarm once the AC voltage exceeds
Introduction 280 V. When AC voltage exceeds 300 V, the rectifier
automatically turns OFF. At this time, there is no DC power
output. When the system power supply works normally, switch
ON the rectifier manually.
AC Under When the AC voltage lower limit is set to 160 V, then the
voltage monitoring unit will give an alarm once the AC voltage lowers
Introduction the limit. When AC voltage decreases the limit (160 V), the
rectifier automatically turns OFF. At this time, there is no DC
power output. When the system power supply works normally,
switch ON the rectifier manually.
