0 Introduction
A Transformer is a static (or stationary) peace of apparatus by means of which electric
power in one circuit is transformed into electric power of the same frequency in another
circuit. It can raise or lower the voltage in a circuit but with a corresponding decrease or
increase in current. Transformers are electric machines that enable the transmission and
distribution of electric energy in a simple and cost-effective way, since their efficiency
overcomes 97%. The modern industry requirements necessitate the construction of a great
variety of transformers that do not fit into standardized large-scale constructions.
Manufacturing of distribution transformer is one of the important factors to get satisfying
efficiency of transformer because proper manufacturing can give the assurance of 95%-
97% efficiency.
The report is organized as follows: Chapter one and describes the introductory part of the
transformer, while chapter three provides about distribution transformer. In chapter four
manufacturing process of transformer. Finally chapter five Testing of Transformers and III
concludes the report

1.1 Background
I have done this practicum report on Manufacturing and Assembling of Substation
Equipment at Basic Power Engineering Ltd under the supervisor of Rezoana Bente Arif
and Engineer Md Abdullah Al Muhid.
Basic Power Engineering Ltd is one of the well manufacturing companies in Bangladesh.
Since 2007, Basic Power Engineering Ltd. has already become best choice for its products
and service to the customers countrywide. Besides serving our existing customers in
Bangladesh, they are extended their range of products and services to the largest range of
power market in government or private.

Basic Power Engineering Ltd transformer manufacturing has some characteristics as given
below:-

1.2 Objective
The main objective of the report has been done to show the manufacturing and assembling
procedure of substation equipment in Basic Power Engineering Ltd. It is discussed
generally about the manufacturing and assembly of substation in Basic Power Engineering
Ltd. Here, in this report the core cutting, winding or coil size identification and others
factor has been discussed generally. The calculation and the general informations are
included of transformer, PFI plant and switchgear equipment. The total manufacturing and
assembling procedure is shown by the experts. Here I have tried my level best to make my
report up to date. I think this is the report is really a very good one.

The specific objective of this report includes:
To know the manufacturing procedure of transformer.
To know the testing of transformer.
To make an analysis of distribution transformer
To know the Calculation of distribution transformer
 To show a total view of a transformer manufacturing company.

1.5 Product Warranty

We warranty of our Supplied equipments for a period 24 (Twenty Four) months from the date of
delivery and we provide 10 (Ten) years after sales service at nominal cost of beyond warranty
period. The warranty does not cover any natural calamities.

1.6 Methodology
The project is concentrated of the Manufacturing and Assembling of Distribution Transformer &
PFI Plant. Both primary and secondary data are being collected for the purpose of this report.
Primary Data are collected from the practical work, maintenance chart and the user manual
handbooks and secondary data are being collected from the websites.

1.7 Scope
This report has been prepared through the help of practical knowledge and extensive discussion of
employees. While preparing this report, I had a great opportunity to have an in depth knowledge
of Manufacturing and Testing procedure of Distribution Transformer by the Basic Power
Engineering Ltd. It also helped me to acquire a fast hand perspective of a leading manufacturing
company in Bangladesh.
1.8 Limitation
I prepared this report during the period of my practicum. This report was made through the time
duration what was allocated for me but this short duration it is not possible to give available data.
I have shown the practical manufacturing procedure transformer, assembly of CT, PT, LT panel,
HT panel, capacitor bank etc. Although it was not expected but several times there were some
problems of equipments to manufacture transformer and assembly of equipment. Right here I had
the opportunity to do practical work. I tried my best to have an excellent output.
