License Simplification
The following Avaya Office licenses are not required:
Essential & Preferred Edition:
IP500 Voice Networking:
Teleworker, Mobile Worker:
Embedded Messaging Ports:
CCR Agent and Supervisor:
VMPro TTS (Generic/Scansoft),
All Avaya Office Aura Edition (B5800) licenses.
Various legacy licenses (CCC, Phone Manager, VCM channels, Mobility)
Contact Store is replaced with VMPro Recording Administrators for use with the
Avaya Call Recorder.

2015 Avaya, Inc. All rights reserved. Page 105

Centralized Licensing
Common licenses reside on the Primary Server:
Server Edition
Avaya and 3rd Party Endpoints
SIP trunk channels
Office Worker
Power User
Receptionist (for SoftConsole)
UMS Web Services (for hunt groups)

Primary Server allocates to Secondary or Expansion systems on request

Avaya Office System Status Application (SSA) provides detailed status of allocations
System Monitor can also display license status

2015 Avaya, Inc. All rights reserved. Page 106

Local Licensing
Some licenses must reside on the local device:
Additional PRI Channels (Office 500 Expansion System)
CTI Link Pro
TAPI Wav (Office 500 Expansion System)
Additional Messaging Ports (Primary & Secondary Server)
IPSec Tunnelling (Office 500 Expansion System)
Messaging TTS Pro (Primary & Secondary Server)
Messaging Recordings Administrators (Primary & Secondary Server)

Still administered centrally via the Avaya Office Manager, SSA provides status on both
central and local licenses.

Linux Licensing
Some licenses are not supported on the Primary, Secondary or Office for Linux
Expansion Systems:
IPSec Tunnelling
TAPI Wav
PRI Channels

Only Office 500 Expansion System can be used to support these features.

2015 Avaya, Inc. All rights reserved. Page 108

Messaging Licenses
As per current Avaya Office messaging operation, some licenses are require to be on
the same Server as the active Voicemail Pro:
Additional Messaging Ports
Messaging TTS Pro
Messaging Recordings Administrators

Note:
Additional Messaging Ports licenses are incorporated as part of the Server
Edition license. See next slide

2015 Avaya, Inc. All rights reserved. Page 109

Server Edition License
One Server Edition license is required for each Primary, Secondary and Expansion
System.
Enables basic operation: With no valid license, no calls are possible.
Adds 2 Additional Messaging Ports to the Primary
Enables unlimited IP500 Voice Networking channels (maximum channels subject
to other constraints)
Enables meet-me conferencing, advanced messaging, automated attendant, call
recording, conditional call routing, queue announcements
Also basic mobility features: Mobile Twinning, call control and Callback.

2015 Avaya, Inc. All rights reserved. Page 110

Primary Operation
The Primary acts as a central license server, which means that:
Central licenses are issued/locked to Primarys feature key serial number.
Uses the Multi-Site Network for secure distribution
Devices not part of the Server Edition solution cannot obtain licenses
Allocates to Secondary or Expansion systems on request.
Allocates to remote systems only after it has satisfied its own requirements, and
then on a first come first served basis.
Can lead to remote systems losing licenses if a shortfall and the Primarys
requirement is increased

2015 Avaya, Inc. All rights reserved. Page 111

Secondary Server and Expansion Operation
Secondary and Expansion systems will check their local licenses first before any
request of the Primary.
Local licenses can include IP Endpoint and User licenses.
Supports the 12 IP Endpoint licenses associated with a VCM module.
Local licenses cannot be placed into the Primarys license pool.

Any Secondary or Expansion system losing contact with the Primary will persist
allocated licenses for a 15 day grace period.
Alarms (SSA/SNMP/Syslog/email) for license over allocation, and for grace period start
and reminders.
Primarys record of allocated licenses persists until the device is removed from the
solution, or its requirement reduces.

Backup & Restore

Server Edition Manager saves a fullset of configuration files on Primary Server:

Can also save to local PC directory or Secondary Server if it is available.

The Primary Server has Backup/Restore commands on Web Management that

copies all backup file sets:
There is an automated option, and 14 separate Back Ups can be created
Application packages are backed up in this way if required

Voicemail Pro and one-X Portal can be administered to save periodic backup
sets on Primary (manual or automatic).

Using the Voicemail Pro Client or the One-X Administrator, this is done in the
same way as it is on IP Office 500 V2, if required.
