IP Office 500 Expansion System
Server Edition
Select Mode
Select is a mode that is configured in the core IP Office software and validated
by licensing. Server Edition Select licenses unlock the new functionality.
Most Select features are enforced by Manager, Web Manager or core software.
Completely new set of feature licenses for Select are available only in PLDS.
For upgraded systems all existing ADI licenses will become dormant after switching to
Select.
A PLDS license file must be obtained to replace all existing ADI licenses as well as
provide the software version licenses.
Common IP Office and application binaries; can run either as Select or non
Select.
All Server Edition systems will be Non Select when first installed/upgraded and
the mode must be changed if Select functionality is required.

Installation
Requirements
A single distribution contains the software components for the whole solution
Includes server and user applications, as well as phone and Avaya Office 500 firmware
Avaya servers come with distribution preinstalled
Linux servers support a web based Ignition process to personalise them for
their intended use:
Primary, Secondary, Linux Expansion or one-X Portal server
A simple, single screen utility (Initial Configuration Utility) is run automatically
to allow an Avaya Office device to be centrally detected and administered as part
of the solution.
Upgrades are automated, solution-wide and centrally managed
Note:
Installation and upgrades can also be done from a USB stick as well as from a
DVD, with R9.1(or higher) for Server Edition.
To help manage the IP Office for Linux, the following tools are available:
Web Management
IP Office Manager on a Windows PC
System Monitor and System Status Application (SSA) on a windows PC
Voicemail Pro Client on a windows PC
One-X Portal on a windows PC
Avaya Call Recorder on a window PC
Linux command Line Interface (CLI)
SSH Client for remote management and diagnostics
Avayas DVDs are required for Installation and Maintenance of IP Office for
Linux:
Note:
The installation software can be downloaded from the Avaya Support web site
http://support.avaya.com/products
Web Management
The IP Office for Linux server is configured and managed remotely using web
browser access. Web Management is used for basic user and huntgroup
configuration, setting up services, doing back ups and restorals, and performing
upgrades, which we will see in a later lesson.
Web Browser
A web browser is used for access to the web control pages of the server.
A browser is also used to access the one-X Portal for IP Office applications
administration menus.
SSH Client
Access to a program that supports SFTP/SSH, for example SSH Secure Shell, is
useful but not obligatory.

IP Office Platform
Server Edition
Installing a Server
Edition
User and Business partners can use USB for Installation and Upgrades.
Now we will take you through a standard installation for IP Office for Linux.
Always make sure you have the correct network information before you attempt
the installation, this will save your time and perhaps some extra configuration
later for example:
IP Address/Subnet
Gateway and DNS IP Addresses
A root password
A Server Name
Note
If you have a Server supplied by Avaya, then the Installation of
Server Edition software is not required. When you turn on the
server you will be directed to the Ignition Process.
If any Server Software requires upgrading, this we will cover later in this
course.
Select the language that you want to use for the installation process.
Note
Depended on the installation routine and its release you will see deviating
graphics. But by whatever means at this point in time the system displays
the progress of the installation.
When you first connect to a new system to run Ignition you may be presented
with a security warning about the connection being untrusted.
Pre-Ignition the system is using the default IP Office security certificate for
identification.
Following installation and start up of the newly installed module, the services
provided by the module need to be started and initialized. This is done via web
browser access to the module.
1. From a client PC, start the browser and enter https:// followed by the IP address of
the server and :7070. For example https://192.168.42.1:7070.
2. Note: You can only log in as the root user for Ignition

Note:
ADI = Avaya Direct International
If it is necessary to exchange a Feature Key due to damage or upgrade then the
existing key and licenses can be exchanged (license swap) through the Avaya
Direct International (ADI) website
Still administered centrally via the Avaya Office Manager, SSA provides status on both
central and local licenses.
Only Office 500 Expansion System can be used to support these features.
Note:
Additional Messaging Ports licenses are incorporated as part of the Server
Edition license. See next slide
Any Secondary or Expansion system losing contact with the Primary will persist
allocated licenses for a 15 day grace period.
Alarms (SSA/SNMP/Syslog/email) for license over allocation, and for grace period start
and reminders.
Primarys record of allocated licenses persists until the device is removed from the
solution, or its requirement reduces.

Avaya IP Office has an extensive feature set to assist workers in many remote
situations:
