Simple Life

All our prophets us to lead a simple life as it give more pleasure than the life of rich
people. "simple life" saysthe prophet Mohammed, "Set my heart on high thoughts."

It is a good thing that so many people in Europe, America and elsewhere have, during
the recent years, come to see how much more pleasant and sensible is the simple life
than one, which is given over to much spending, much show and much vanity. Men and
women who have money enough to buy expensive thing will forbear from wasting their
riches in this way. They enjoy simple dress and adorn their houses with necessary
furniture. People who work hard are the best servants of the humanity live in a quiet
frugal manner which keeps them in better health and enable them to take more active
part in the world's work.

I consider it a sin to waste money on personal pleasures. Whoever, spends too much
on luxury is wasting stores which might be used for the feeding, clothing and
maintaining of his poorer neighbours. We should make our function simple and on all
important occasions we should remember the suffering humanity, and allot some part of
our treasure to charity. Great people have taught the value of austerity by living a simple
life. it would be rather nice to develop courage to lead a simple life and determine to do
good work

Essay on School Picnic

Last month our class teacher took us for a picnic. It was a lovely experience.
We went to a garden near our school. We were asked to carry some food. Some of us
carried fruits, some carried cakes, and some carried snacks. We also took along bats,
balls, and other games.

In the morning, we boarded our school bus and left for the rock garden. Once we
reached there, our teacher helped us to select a comfortable place to sit. After eating
fruits, we played a lot of games. Our teacher also played with us. After that, she took us
for a walk round the garden.

In the afternoon, we were all hungry and tired. We sat together and had our lunch. Then
our teacher read out lovely stories. We all sat together listening to her. After an hour she
took us back to the bus and we all came back to the school.
I will never forget this picnic, as this was the first time that I went for a picnic with my
school friends and had great fun

.My Summer Vacation

Our school closed on May 14. we had been planning how to spend the vacation this
time. There were many proposals. My parents wished to go to our home town, and be
with my grandparents for about six weeks or so. My friends had a trekking expedition up
their sleeves, while my classmate wished to go to some hill station on an education-tour
for which our class-teacher had also given consent. I wished to avail of all three
proposals.

First, I made my mother and elder sister agree to my going on the tour, with my class
and the teacher, as the railway concession was already allowed for such journeys. They
requested my father to postpone the programme to visit the grandparents by a week or
so. My father readily agreed and decided that if I wished to go for the educational tour, I
could join him later. He and my mother agreed to go in the advance party to be joined
by my sister and me after my tour.

My friends agreed to go on trekking, after my return from both journeys, as the weather
in May was not conducive to climbing in hills, that too near Alps thus, the three journeys
were planned in the following order: Education tour in May, home town trip in June and
trekking in july, when the monsoon reaches this part of the country.

My class-teacher had arranged for the railway concession for thirty-five students and
three teachers. We started on May 20 by Euro Express at about 2 p.m. reaching railway
platform since the train stopped there a couple minutes, that being a big railway
junction.

we enjoyed our three-day stay in Paris very much. There we got our rooms booked in a
lodge on Thomas street. We had boating in the nearby river four time. We went to
different places. We returned on May 25, very much refreshed and happy.

My father had booked our seats by Air France on June 2. I along with my sister went to
this journey as already decided and reached home town on June 3. from there we had
to motor down to a town nearby. We stayed with our grandparents for the whole of
June.

Returning in July, we went on the trekking-trip hills and covered 20 kilometers in a day.
Rock climbing was pretty hard.
Thus, I spent my Summer Holidays very nicely.

Our Local Market

We have a small market near our house it is our local market. Though it is not very big,
one can buy almost everything there.

The market place is always crowded. The shops are mostly small in size. Some shops
sell fruits and dairy products, some sell groceries, some sell fish, some sell utensils,
some sell gift items and stationery. One can also find shops selling electronic goods.
There are shops for repairing damaged things also.

In the middle of the market there is a big medical store. It has all kinds of medicines
available.
There is also a nice bakery shop just outside the market. It sells delicious cakes and
cookies. I love to go to the market as my mother busy me goodies like candies and
cakes.
My mother goes twice a week to the market to buy various things.
This local market has made our lives very easy as all day-to-day items are available at a
comfortable distance. The shopkeepers are honest and sell quality products at
reasonable prices.

One Late Cold Night, We Heard

One late winter night, we heard the cry of an old lady, from the nearby house. She was
alone, living with her husband, who was not well, and to bed. Sensing their pitiable
condition, the neighbours used to help them, by turns. That night, when they were
alone, some burglars had entered their house from the backside, after jumping over the
courtyard wall.

They over powered both of them and tied them to cots. The lady was somehow able to
free herself from the bondage, and she came out into the courtyard, from where she
made her attempt to cry for help.

Four of us reached there, three gents and one lady. We freed her husband from the
rope, which was tightly tied, that it had made marks on his skin, causing bruises.

Two of us went to the Police Station. The culprits had taken to their heels, when the
lady raised the alarm.
The police came and made a thorough search of the house. they found two boxes in the
adjacent park. Luckily the burglars coould not open them in the hurry. All the precious
articles in the almirahs were also safe. Thus, the old couple were saved from their
valuables being stolen by burglars.

Next day they changed the house and shifted to their son's residence, in the nearby
colony. The old lady was very thankful to her neighbours, who came to help them, in
their hour of need.

The Incident I Will Never Forget

Childhood is very impressionable age. One incident of my childhood is indelibly printed

in my mind. I was eleven years old. I had just joined middle school. The children of
primary school did not admit me in their company and those of middle school didnt
wanted to be friends with me. They treated me as an outsider. To add insult to injury
they often befooled me and made me a target of their jokes. No wonder I got into the
habit of visiting the nearby orchard for solitude and incidentally stealing fruit.

Once I got into the orchard and climbed up a huge mango tree. The owner saw me, and
unnoticed by me put a toy dog looking like a real dog at the foot of that tree. After eating
to the fill and filling my pockets with mangoes. I thought of getting down it was then that
my eyes fell on a dog. My blood ran cold. I waited and waited for the dog to go but it
remained there. Deciding to face the consequences of my theft. I jumped down.

Imagine my surprise when I found that the dog which had frightened me to the bone
was just a stuffed one. I started laughing helplessly at myself. The owner heard me. I
was caught. He was a kind man. On my begging forgiveness, he let me go with just a
word of advice. Can I ever forget this incident?.

My Friend

Man is a social animal. Where ever, he goes, he makes friends but few are real friends.
William is my real friend. He is of my age and studies in my class.

William is quite tall, fair and healthy. He is an ideal student. He is hard working. He
listens to the teachers attentively. He is good in Basketball and Table Tennis, the game
I like. He is well behaved and liked by all.

William is always ready to help me. Whenever I have any difficulty in studies, he tries to
solve it. He is good at mathematics and I an weak. He helps me when needed. The
problems that I do not understand are explained by him. He does not lose patience, if I
am slow in grasping it.

In the evening we always play together. We visit each others houses too. My parents
like him very much. He has become almost a member of my family. We discuss all

problems in his presence and at times consult him too. His parents treat me in the same
way.

When my brother was hospitalized, he stood by me and shared my duties. A friend in

need, is a friend indeed I am lucky to have such a friend.

The Most Interesting book I read

Our school library is having books which I like very much. One of my friends showed me
a certain book in the library and he said that is his favorite book. He also said that is
was the second part of the most famous Adventures of Huckleberry Finn written by
Mark Twain.

I borrowed the book from the librarian on the advice of my friend. When I went home
that day, I had an immediate lunch, when to my room and started reading the book.

Home interesting was it! It was a wonderful book. The book was full of adventures. The
main character was Huckleberry Finn who was a poor English boy whose father was a
third class drunkard. This father wanted to get his son's fortune which he get previously
in yet another adventure with Tom Sawyer, his friend. So Finn runs away from the
custody of his father and meet another boy. This boy was Jim who had been running
away from master. He had been a slave boy.

The two friends go to the sea and get on to a ship. They become friendly with the
seamen and go on fishing. They also go to various island in the sea and engage
themselves in many adventures. At last they come home. Finn finds that his father had
died and hi was no more in danger. Jim also get his freedom with Finn's help.

This interesting children's novel had been written by well-known English Author Mark
Twain who had previously written the famous book Tom Sawyer. Both these books are
popular even today. So many millions of children throughout the English speaking world
must have read these books. Much more than Tom Sawyer, it was the Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn which was the most interesting book I have ever read.

My favourite subject

I am a science student but unlike my other classmates, I have opted for Elective
English. My friends and relatives tried to dissuade me saying-I will have to waste a lot of
Compilation Short essays for reading Pusat Tuisyen Zamrud , Mersing Teacher Hanini Suhaila Hamsan

my precious time on English-a not very scoring subject. But English as it is not literary.

Reading in itself is a great pleasure. English has a wealth of literature, unsurpassed by

any other language, the descriptions and the complexities of the nuances.

Studying Shaw and Hardy gives us an insight in human nature. We realize what actions
bring what reactions. How a man would react to a given set of circumstances or action.
We learn to look for and understand deeper meanings.

My love for my subject has inculcated in me the habit of reading. As a philosopher

pointed out, Reading ennobles man, makes one more tolerant to the follies of others
and bridges the gap between the countries and cultures I hope that it will do so for me
too.

My First Day at School

This is my third school yet on the day I joined it was very nervous. We had shifted to
Singapore recently and so I had to change to this school.

This school is very different from my previous one. It has a very grand and imposing
building. There are big playgrounds on two sides and a beautiful garden in front. I was
very happy to come to this school and had visions of all the games that I would be able
to play. And yet I was full of apprehensions.

I saw some students walking around. They seemed to be quite indifferent to me. A few
even stared at me insolently. It frightened me. How would I get along with these
students? At that time the class teacher of my class came out of the Principals room.
She took me to my class, introduced me to the students, asked a student to give a seat
to me and told me that I should sit there every day. That student did not even say hello
to me. All my apprehensions came to fore. I felt very alone and stupid.

Then the bell rang. The teacher left the class. Some five-six students crowded round me
asking my name telling theirs, making fun of each other and pulling each others legs.

Soon I was one of them. What I considered their aloofness was just discipline. How
could they talk in front of the teacher! Now I love my school.

How I Spent A Sunday English Essay For Kids

Sundays are waited for eagerly by most of the people. I wish every day was a Sunday
but alas the day comes after waiting for six long days. Thus it is natural for me to wait
for this day eagerly as it provides my recreation and rest.

Last Sunday I got up at 6 o clock. I went for an early morning walk with my father in a
park near our house. The cool breeze and the chirping of birds was refreshing. I feel
more relaxed and refreshing.

We came home and had breakfast. I read newspapers for some time. After a bath, I
went to the market with my mother to buy fresh vegetables and fruits. It was amazing
experience to shop in local market. Then I went to the library with my brother and read
some science magazines there. I took a story book to read at home.

After coming home, I went to play chess and ludo with my friends. After taking lunch
with my family members, I played ludo and listening music with my mother, father and
sister whole afternoon. In evening , I had my karate classes.

After completing classes, My friends and I went to sea shore. We had great fun there.
We enjoyed horse riding there. We watched beautiful sunset and returned home.

At home, I took dinner with my family. After that we all sat and chat with each other.
Then I said my prayers and went to sleep. But, I also wonder if I could enjoy as much as
I do if every day would have been a Sunday!

A visit to shopping mall

A shopping mall is a place where everything is available under one roof. Shopping
mall gives us shopping with comfort. On last Sunday I visited a shopping mall with
my mother and cousin nearby my home. It is known as Iscon Mall.

There were many different sections in the shopping mall. Every section has its crowd of
customers. The first section had shops selling house hold things and grocery.Mother
shopped enthusiastically for monthly rations. She bought many things like soaps, pulses
and spices. My cousin and bought some food items.

The second section had cloth shops for children, ladies and gentlemen. We visited
some artificial jewellery shops, cosmetic item shops and footwear shops in that
section too. The jewellery shops decorated very attractive. My cousin bought a pair of
shoes for him.

The third section had shops of electronic items like refrigerator, air conditioners and
washing machines. Ever we saw some music and video shops. There were
somefurniture shops too. This section had many shops of stationary too. We visited
manysweet and snacks shops and enjoy refreshment there. In Iscon mall, there is a
game zone for kids . The game zone was full of kids as it is a vacation time. We
enjoyed playing games in a game zone too.

The shopping mall was very big but it was clean. To visit a shopping mall was a new
and exciting experience for me. Visiting shopping mall is very enjoyable for me. As it
provides change from daily repetitive schedule work. We enjoyed a lot by visiting and
bought the things of our need from there.
