At the end of the module, students should be able to:-

1. perform taking off for different types of building trades

2. produce progress charts for work scheduling.
3. produce schedule to order materials and estimate costs
4. produce estimation of materials and costing by completing approximate and detail estimation
5. produce estimation of man- days/costs based types of work involved and progress chart
6. estimate machinery needed and the costs to be allocated based types of work involved

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This module is designed as an introduction for students about civil and structure drawings interpretation, progress charts, schedule to
order materials and estimate costs, the estimation of costs for man-days and machinery needed. They will learn how to calculate
and estimate costs for civil engineering work in terms of materials, labor and machinery. They will use all the necessary drawings,
charts and forms so that the work can be proceeded according to the specifications. Positive attitude during work is also stressed in
these lessons such as consideration of suitable quantity in order to reduce wastage of energy, time and costs as well as cooperation
between personals. Students will be exposed to the instructions and procedures of the work that suit the current industrial needs.
