Ques 12.12

Ans:

a. The null and alternate hypothesis are as follows:

H0 : 1 = 2 = 3 = 4

H0 :

b. The Degrees of freedom for numerator, df = 3 and denominator, df = 28

MSB = 0.0035
MSW = 0.0409

e. Critical value, F = 4.58

f. Test Statistic, F = 0.0856

g. ANOVA table for this exercise is as follows

h. At significance level of 1%, we fail to reject null hypothesis.

Ques 12.14

Ans

H0 : 1 = 2 = 3 (The mean time taken to provide relief from headache is the same for each of
the three drugs)

H1 : Not all the three population means are equal

These are all normally distributed populations for which we are testing for the equality of three
means and all the assumptions required to apply ANOVA hold true so we use the f distribution
to make the test.
