IT IS OUR PLEASURE TO INVITE CANDIDATES FOR THE


2018/2019 EDITION OF

FOR SINGERS AND RPTITEURS

Fabbrica is the Young Artist Program of the Teatro dellOpera di Roma, a unique and new
opportunity is presented for Italian and foreign talents whom have completed their training at
conservatories and academies, and are ready to embark on an international career.

The participants of Fabbrica Young Artist Program are considered young professionals and
nurtured through the preparation of auditions, rehearsals, meetings with contemporary artists, and the
everyday practical work of engaged professionals coordinated by the Teatro dellOpera di Roma.

WHO ARE CALLED


Fabbrica Young Artist Program is open to a total of 15 participants: 1 Director, 1 Set Designer, 1
Costume Designer, 1 Lighting Designer, 3 Rptiteurs, and 8 Singers. At the discretion of the commission
the total number of places for each category may vary.
All applicants must have a discipline relevant to the professional path of interest (that can be
documented) and must have already had work experience in the field.

Fabbrica Young Artist Program is held onsite at the Teatro dellOpera di Roma (Teatro Costanzi,
Teatro Nazionale, Sala Respighi, and during the summer the archaeological site of Terme di Caracalla)
and at their workshops.
Over the course of 20182019, the participants will be involved with the following, but not limited to:
educational outreach activities of the Teatro dellOpera di Roma,
season performances of Teatro dellOpera di Roma and in other important international theaters,
meetings, master classes, and auditions with artists and experts from the international scene.

SCHOLARSHIP AND CONDITIONS


Participants will receive a stipend of 19.000, to be paid out monthly.
Lack of participation in the activities of Fabbrica involves a curtailment of the scholarship or, in
serious cases, suspension from the program.
The direction of Fabbrica reserves the right not to renew at any time, with a notice of one month,
any participant not meeting the standards of the program.
In addition, participation in artistic projects is at the discretion of the direction of Fabbrica.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION


For all artistic disciplines:
Fabbrica is a project aimed for artists at the beginning of their career, and an age limit is not
strictly imposed. However, priority will be given to candidates with the same credentials born after
1/1/1986. Minors arent eligible to take part in the program.
Once accepted, applicants residing outside the European Union must present a valid Italian study
visa that would include the entire period of training.
Knowledge of English or Italian is compulsory, while Italian will be considered the preferred
working language.
There may be admitted candidates that have no knowledge of Italian, but will be required to study
the language in the first half of the training in order to progress in the course.

HOW TO APPLY
All participants must register via the on-line form found on Fabbrica website:
http://www.fabbrica.operaroma.it/ before 11:59 p.m. on May 31st, 2017.
In addition to the requirements for each category, each applicant must include the following documents:
CURRICULUM VITAE detailed,
SCAN of a PROOF OF IDENTITY (Passport or ID Card),

Only applications received through the on-line from will be accepted,


any other mode of submission will be considered invalid.
It will be the responsibility of Fabbrica Young Artist Program to send
an e-mailed receipt confirmation of the audition request and notify the
candidate when they will be called for an audition hearing or interview.

RPTITEURS
Candidates who wish to apply to the Rptiteur program will audition with the following tests:

A) Prepare two choices from the list (two different composers and at least one in Italian):

B) Sight reading of a piano piece will be chosen by the commission.
C) You may be required to accompany and coach a singer on an interpretation of an aria of the
standard repertoire.

IN THE TESTS YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO MARK THE VOCAL LINE.

Selection will be determined by the CV, an audition, and if called an interview.

SINGERS
The singer candidates will audition onsite at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome,

bringing three arias, possibly of different styles and eras,

well-suited to their voice-type, and including at least one in Italian.

These arias must be performed in its entirety in the original language and tonality.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING TWO COPIES OF THE ARIAS YOU WILL PRESENT

Selection will be determined by the CV, an audition, and if called an interview.
