RENEWABLE ENERGY

Energy is required for almost all human activities. To acquire the energy
requirements people use different kinds of energy sources. Many countries heavily rely on
the non-renewable energy sources. One example is fossil fuel which is decaying rapidly
and creates environmental damages. The main importance of renewable energy is that they
replenishes constantly and have less impact on the environment.

Renewable energy sources are also known as green energy sources which implies
their clean nature. When we consider the main conventional energy technologies which
rely on fossil fuel, they have a significant contribution to most of the environmental
problems. The main environmental problems such as greenhouse gasses, air pollution, and
water and soil contamination are mostly caused by conventional energy technologies. The
renewable energy technologies has no considerable effect on environmental problems.
With the use of renewable energy sources our environmental quality can be improved.

Renewable energy will be the alternative energy sources when all other sources
have been depleted. Nearly 90% of the current energy usage is based on non-renewable
energy technologies which will run out someday. It is predicted that energy sources such as
coal natural gas and fossil fuel will only last through this century. Oil and gas exists only
up to 2060s and coal, after filling the gap of fuel, will last until 2080s. These predictions
may change if new reserves are found but the extraction will be harder making these
energy sources much expensive.

Biomass, solar, hydro and wind are the most common renewable energy sources
that are available today. These technologies usually require high initial infrastructure cost
but after that the cost per energy unit is very low. Solar power is an excellent renewable
energy source which has many possibilities of application. Wind power is also very
beneficial but limited to certain locations which has higher wind probability.
