3.0 GENERAL NOTES 7
Malikai is a deepwater oil discovery in offshore Sabah, Malaysia where Sabah Shell
Petroleum Company is the designated operator. A floating Dry Tree Unit (DTU) will be
installed over Malikai field utilising a Tension Leg Platform (TLP) design that suits the
Malikai environment.
The Malikai Dry Tree Unit (DTU) is to be located about 110 km off the shore of Sabah
(East Malaysia) in the South China Sea. Water depth at the location is about 500 m (1500 ft).
The Malikai DTU design will accommodate 24 slots with initial 17 well developments (11
producers and 6 water injectors) and additional well slots to allow for future well
developments.
The Malikai DTU is designed to produce a nameplate capacity of 60,000 bbls of liquid
(Oil + Water) per day and 50 MMSCFD of associated gas. The untreated crude oil will be
sent to Kebabangan platform (KBB) for processing via 50 km 10 pipeline and
eventually exported to Sabah Oil & Gas Terminal (SOGT). The associated gas will be
compressed and mainly used for gas lift and fuel gas system with the excess gas exported to
KBB via 8 pipeline. The gas pipeline will be designed to enable reverse flow in later field
life when additional gas is required for start-up and/or fuel gas make up.
The Malikai TLP will be designed as a fully manned platform, complete with living
quarters and a control room.
