Dear Dr. Tankersley: Please be advised I represent Judge Jerry Fielding and am writing to demand you immediately cease and desist from making false, defamatory, and reckless statements and allegations that impugn Judge Fielding’s character and integrity in violation of the laws of the State of Alabama and refrain from causing further harm and damage to his reputation and business interests. You have given two different interviews where you have accused Judge Fielding and other Commissioners of being corrupt. ‘You are hereby advised that these allegations and statements, as published about Judge Fielding and the other two named Commissioners, are false and defamatory. ‘Therefore, demand is made that you immediately cease and desist from making similar statements and that you not participate or cause any further false, defamatory, and reckless statements and allegations about Judge Fielding by others. Thereby place you on notice, under the provisions of Alabama Code §§ 6-5-184 and 6-5- 185 (1975), that, in the event you have not within ten (10) days of the date of this letter, published to the extent the defamatory statements were published an apology, a retraction, and a correction to the defamatory statements you made, my client will have all available and appropriate civil remedies as permitted under the laws of the State of Alabama.
