MasterCard Worldwide is an American multinational financial services corporation


headquartered in the MasterCard International Global Headquarters, Purchase, New York, United
States, in Westchester County
The Global Operations Headquarters is located in O'Fallon, Missouri, United States, a suburb of
St. Louis, Missouri
Throughout the world, its principal business is to process payments between the banks of
merchants and the card issuing banks or credit unions of the purchasers who use the
"MasterCard" brand debit and credit cards to make purchases
MasterCard, originally known as Interbank/Master Charge, was created by several California
banks as a competitor to the BankAmericard issued by Bank of America, which later became the
Visa credit card issued by Visa Inc. From 1966 to 1979, MasterCard was called "Interbank" and
"Master Charge"

Credit: pay later


It offers standard cards that address basic credit needs or premium cards that give consumers
enhanced options like concierge services and also provide a variety of products that make it easier for
people to pay for purchases later.
Debit: pay now
The three debit cards provided are MasterCard, Maestro and Cirrus people around the world
can make purchases and get cash immediately at banks and credit unions, at ATMs and even at the
point of sale.
Prepaid: pay before
It provide prepaid programs to meet a variety of needs with a focus on government, commercial and
consumer cards that can be reloaded. They also deliver prepaid card program management services
to business partners around the world.
Commercial: pay efficiently
Companies and government entities of all sizes benefit from the commercial solutions of MasterCard,
which help them do everything from streamlining their procurement to managing information and
expenses.

3. Marketing Activities:
MasterCard, a long-standing partner of the golf tournament Arnold Palmer Invitational used the
event to introduce a number of its latest technology advancements which are given below:
They equipped the entire place at the golf course with contactless payments
MasterCard partnered with Calloway during the event to design a payment-enabled golf
glove as part of its Commerce for Every Device program
MasterCard activated its Priceless Surprises platform a program that surprises event
attendees with an upgrade of some sort, or a unique event experience
MasterCard rebranded itself recently to position itself as the forward thinking human centered
technology firm

6. Recent News:

Recently signed MOU with the Singapore Economic Development Board to help companies in
Singapore build innovative technology solutions. These efforts seek to improve experiences of
consumers and enable companies to expand into adjacent business areas (Tourism, Urban
Mobility, Trade) in a digital environment.
IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, and MasterCard have agreed to work together to
broaden the use of electronic payments by micro, small and medium enterprises, with the goal
of connecting five million such businesses to the global payments network over five years.
MasterCard, in collaboration with Beam Wallet, a world-class mobile commerce and rewards
platform, will bring consumers a fast, innovative and rewarding way to shop at over 3,000 stores
in the UAE.
The company recently held an event to unveil two significant developments for its future:
1. An enhanced version of the innovative Masterpass global digital payment service thats
designed to positively change the way consumers conduct everyday transactions
2. First look at a new logo that symbolizes MasterCards rebranding and evolvement as a more
digitally driven company.
