"...I found myself really liking the...production of 'Bat Boy....' Musical variety is at the top. The sung
narrative balanced with spoken dialogue is straight-forward and clear; often including harmony...The
[pit orchestra's] performance is brisk, bright, and powerful." -Rosemary Laughlin, News Gazette

"Backing the performers is a small but mighty pit orchestra. Off to the side of the stage, I marveled [sic]
at the cohesiveness between the pit players and the actors. Musical Director Griffin Jenkins and the
musicians didnt drop a beat or rush the performers. Masterfully, the band handled the musical genre
shifts from (bad) 90s rap to hoedown country to heartfelt ballad to over-the-top gospel. All of the pit
orchestra Griffin and Li-Wen Wong [sic] on keyboards, Chadsworth Bam Bam Boom Boom Schwenk
and Chris Patterson on drums, [Max Dragoo] on guitar, Charles Charleston Chew Applebee on bass,
and Robert Sweedler [as the] synthesizer programmer brought their valuable musical expertise to the
production."

From Green Days American Idiot. Music Director and piano

"...godDAMN can we get a hand for the BAND? A show like this, in which the music is so very crucial (and
so widely well-known), absolutely demands that the band be up to the task. Thankfully for the cast, the
producers, and anyone in the audience like me (who played the American Idiot CD on a constant loop
when it was new), the orchestra is tight and right. ...I could not have been happier with the sounds being
flung defiantly off that stage. In addition to the unseen violin (Johnny Lusardi), viola (Rebecca Saul), cello
(David Goldenbaum), and keyboard (Musical Director Griffin Jenkins), I must give special recognition to
the on stage house band. These four individualsDavid Butler and Eli Knoke on guitar, Efrem Tutwiler
on bass, and Ian Shaw on drumsare the driving force behind this production, and respect must be
paid." - See more at:
