Q1 A man walks on straight road from his home to market 3km away with a speed
of 6km/h & return back with 9km/h. find average velocity and average speed of the
man over interval of time i) 0 to 30min ii) 0 to 50min iii) 0 to 40min.

(Ans. i)6km/h, 6km/h ii) 0 , 7.2km/h iii) 2.25km/h, 6.75km/h )

Q2 A ship moves due to east 12km/h for 1hr and then turns to south 5km/h for 1hr.
calculate the average velocity of motion and direction. (Ans. 6.5km/h, 22)

Q3 A body travelling along straight line 1/3rd of distance with velocity 4m/s and
remaining part distance with 2m/s for half the time and with 6m/s for other half
time. Calculate average velocity. (Ans. 4 m/s )

Q4 A man has to go 50m due to north, 40m due to east and 20m due to south to
reach the field. Calculate distance & displacement. (Ans. 110m, 50m)

Q5 A particle starts from origin goes along x-axis to the point (20m,0) and return

(-20m,0), find the distance and displacement of trip. (Ans. 60m, -20m)

Q6 Draw X-T graph with body moves in uniform motion,50m for 1 st 2.5s, then stops
for next 5s, then move 50m for next 2.5s and then returns back to its initial position
in next 5s. Find average velocity 0 to 10s & average speed of whole journey 0 to 15s.

Q8 A person travelling on a straight line moves with a uniform velocity V 1 for some
time and with uniform velocity V2 for next equal time. Find average velocity V.

Q9 A person travelling on a straight line moves with a uniform velocity V 1 for a


distance x and with a uniform velocity V2 for next equal distance. Find average
velocity.

Q10 Two car A and B standing at +XA and +XB at t=0s (Where XA > XB) , starts moving

opposite direction meets A in 4min. calculate speed of Car C (Ans. 45km/h)

Q15 A train 110m in length travels at 60km/h. It passes a man who is walking at
6km/h in opposite direction. Calculate time taken by train to cross man. (Ans. 6s)

Q16 Two trains each of length 100m, are running on parallel tracks. One overtakes
the other in 20s and one crosses the other in 10s. calculate velocities of train.

each car 5m long, find the time taken during overtake and total road distance used

Q22 A jet airplane travelling at the speed of 500km/h ejects its product of
combustion at speed of 1000km/h rel. to the jet plane. What is the product of
