b) If the A.M. of 2, 6, , 10,17 be 9, find the value of .
c) The algebraic sum of the deviations of 20 observations measured from 40 is 50. Find the
A.M. of the observations.
d) Find the Geometric mean of 18, 12 and 8.
e) Find the Harmonic mean of 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4.
f) The A.M. of two observations is 36 and their G.M. is 24.Find the H.M.
g) Find the Median and Mode of 33, 24, 15, 66, and 6000.
h) If the mean and median of a frequency distribution are 20 and 17 respectively, find the
mode.

j) Write the relation between A.M., G.M. and H.M. when all observations are equal.
k) State the appropriate average for a frequency distribution having open-end classes.

Frequency 3 20 12

OR
Calculate A.M. (using the method of change of origin and scale), Median and Mode from the
following data:
Weekly wages No. of workers
Below 10 8
20 18
30 45
40 90
50 113
60 120

3. The mean age of a combined group of men and women is 30 years. If the mean age of the group
of men is 32 and that of the women is 27, find out the % of men and women in the group.
[5]
OR
The mean of 20 items is found to be 10. At the time of checking it was found that one item 29 is
incorrect. Calculate the mean if (i) the wrong item is omitted and (ii) it is replaced by 49.
