TWO AREA COUNTRY BANDS SING A FORT SALEM

MAINSTAGE MATINEE Fort Salem Theater ends its summer
Mainstage series on Sunday, September 17, at 2 PM, with a
Nashville-style matinee of traditional country-western music.
Spurs USA, an award-winning Berkshires-based country western
band, will team up with The Ginley Girls, four young singing
sisters from Saratoga Springs, for a show at the Washington
County venue on September 17. The ninety-minute toe-tapping,
whistle-blowing, hand-clapping matinee entertainment will
feature popular classic country hits with performers who span
three generations. The afternoon session is the brainchild of
Dona Frank-Federico, front-person of Spurs USA and retired
Chief Operating Officer of WAMC Northeast Public Radio. She
credits her association with station CEO, Alan Chartoff, for her
involvement with the Spurs, having met two of the band members
through her work with Chartoffs band, The Berkshire Ramblers,
with whom she sings three to four times a year as they offer their
services to the community free of charge. All tickets are $20, and
may be ordered in advance by going to the theaters website
(fortsalemtheater.com) or calling the box office at (518) 854-

GIOVANINA BUCCI HEADLINES AT NETTLE MEADOW/

S SANCTUARY FUNDRAISER, SEPTEMBER 8 Acoustic
guitarist and singer/songwriter Giovanina Bucci headlines at the
fourth and final Cheese Jam benefit concert of the 2017 season
at Nettle Meadow Farm, 484 S. Johnsburg Rd., Thurman, 12885,
on Friday, September 8, from 7 to 9 p.m . Bucci, originally
from Plattsburgh, NY, has been performing since 2004, continu-
ally expanding her repertoire of original and cover numbers, all
influenced by her insatiable thirst for new and different genres.
Unfettered by any single one, she glides with seeming ease from
jazz and hip-hop to folk, blues, soul, and funk. In moves from
New York to Durango, CO and then Burlington, VT, she has
soaked up musical styles to feed her creativity for new material.
An unassuming but confident performer, Bucci delivers her mu-
sic in a manner ranging from playful or joyful to hauntingly
soulful. This performance will be a stellar conclusion to the
concert series. The concerts are held in the historic barn loft at
Nettle Meadow Farm. Ticket gate opens at 5 p.m. with the open-
ing act (TBA) from 5:30 to 6:30 and Bucci playing 7 to 9. Re-
gionally-sourced wine and beer and Nettle Meadow cheese plates
are available. All proceeds benefit the Kemp Sanctuary, a 501
(c) 3 organization for retired and rescued animals at Nettle
Meadow.
