Issue Description
EARLY CLOGGING OF THE AVIONICS VENTILATION FILTERS HAVE BEEN
REPORTED BY
THE OPERATORS.
A CLOGGED FILTER CAN RESULT IN LOW VENTILATION AIR FLOW IN THE
AVIONICS
BAY WITH POSSIBLE CONSEQUENT BLOWER/EXTRACT FAULT WARNINGS.
(HERE UNDER THE 'FILTER' TERM COVERS THE DEMISTER AND THE DUST
SEPARATOR
CARTRIDGE)
Solution
INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN LAUNCHED BY AIRBUS INDUSTRIE TO
OPTIMISE THE
CLEANING INTERVAL, THE CLEANING INSTRUCTION AND TO DEFINE THE
LIMITATIONS
1/ IN SERVICE EXPERIENCE WITH THE EXISTING FILTER ASSEMBLY IN
EUROPEAN
OPERATION (P/N 34800 A 200-1) HAS REVEALED THAT THE FILTERS
PRESSURE
DROP LIMIT IS REACHED AFTER:
350 FH FOR THE DEMISTER STAGE
700 FH FOR THE DUST SEPARATOR STAGE
RECOMMENDED PERIODIC REPLACEMENT AT 'A' AND '2A' CHECK
INTERVALS HAS
BEEN INTRODUCED IN THE A320 MPD MAY REVISION.
AN IMPROVED FILTER ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN DEFINED (P/N 34800 A 200-
2)
TFU 21264302 REFERS.
2/ THE CLEANING PROCEDURE HAS BEEN INTRODUCED IN SIL 21-028, IT
WILL BE
ALSO INTRODUCED IN VENDOR CMM 21-26-00 NEXT REVISION (SEPT
90).
SIL HAS BEEN REVISED TO SUM-UP ALL INFORMATION ON THIS
MATTER(JUL 90).
3/ THESE FILTERS HAVE LIMITED NUMBER OF CLEANING ALLOWED
(TWO). CLEANING
PROCEDURE INSTRUCTS TO MARK (CLEANING CONTROL STAMP PLUS
DATE) AFTER
EACH CLEANING ON THE FILTER ITSELF.
