42 As you may have noticed we all do little creative projects here at Simply Zesty for the
Share
blog which are not client work. We don’t make as much money as Google to turn this in
to 20% creative time but letting the creative juices flow is important. Things like the Social
Media UK video, The World Cup Infographic and of course the Zesty Show. Its a great way to do
something fun and enjoyable and to let the hair down while hopefully creating something that people find
useful. The latest project that we share with you is thanks to Ciaran and Sarah who have created an incredible
London Tube map style diagram of the entire internet and the services that run it. Its way to big to actually
view here on the blog so clicking on the image below will open it up in size and allow you to look at it at your
leisure. It’s important to remember that the diagram features sites close to the heart of Ciaran and Sarah and
there will of course be some missing but the guys are open to feedback so leave anything in the comments that
you think should be included and they will update it in a couple of weeks with good suggestions. What I found
is that the more you look at this the more you are amazed by the level of detail it actually includes….

Win A Printed Version

We want to give 5 laminated huge copies of these away to anybody (you will probably have to be an internet
geek like us) who wants one of these for their office. All you have to do if you want to win one of these is
subscribe to our channel on Youtube and we will pick 5 winners next week from the subscribers live on the
show! In case you are wondering what is going on in the picture below that is Sarah and Ciaran who designed
and researched the project. Needless to say they did not design or research the project in that particular
position!!

Jeez thats not a bad effort either Pat. Hadn’t seen that one before and pretty sure Sarah and Ciaran
hadn’t either. Always gutting when you see somebody else has alredy done the same thing but 2007 is
the equivilant of 50 years ago in internet years! I need to check in with you also on those Old Spice
ads. All I am saying is I have some new data!

these guys update it every year

never knew it was so popular
“It hangs in the head quarters of Google, Microsoft, facebook, Wordpress and Yahoo! Japan. Even
the CERN in Geneva now has its own copy”

HQ next week?

Looks good Niall & team !

Would love an interactive map, but then it wouldn’t be a graphic I guess…

I like the Ghost line idea, but there should be more on it , like Wave, Geocities, etc.

P.S. Something I learned recently, Google Video is called Google Videos (plural), for some strange
reason. It used to be google video though.

http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/ is a great site for some interesting info graphics , the way they
present them is really innovative.

Great! But there’s an omission. My photoblog had 7 views yesterday so is clearly a very important and
influential part of the internet.

Yeah I agree Paul that it would be pretty cool as something interactive! Can you imagine if it was open
sourced in some sort of way that allowed people to add to it and edit it! That would be pretty cool
although it would get pretty messy in no time I would say!

@Elliot After a review process it looks like we could be removing Google and replacing the main line
with 365 instead!!!

Nice to see Youku in there – didn’t think anyone knew it outside of China (lot of people watch movies
and shows on it, here). An addition to Youku is Tudou, which is its main competitor in the country and
just this week got another. 50 million USD in investment.
