FLTA 204
Course Objectives:
This course will be writing- and reading-intensive, allowing the students to further
develop communication skills in the language. Language lessons will primarily focus in developing
students speaking, listening, reading, grammar and writing skills in the Intermediate Advanced level
using the chosen text. Classroom activities and discussion will explore the following themes: socio-
political and sociolinguistics issues, Filipino Culture, History and Colonization, language use.
Students will be given a chance to read and write intensively in the target language.
Textbooks
Printed chapters of the Text (Noli Me Tangere ni Rizal:Isang Interpretasyon by Ruth Elynia
Mabanglo and Diosa N. Morong) will be supplied
Requirements
Students are required to attend all classes, and will only be allowed three excused absences. Absences
will severely affect final grade. More than 4 absences will automatically give students F grade under
Attendance. Students are required to participate in classroom conversations and submit homework on
the day it is due.
Students will be assigned two chapters each from the Text (Noli Me Tangere ni Rizal:Isang
Interpretasyon by Ruth Elynia Mabanglo and Diosa N. Morong) to report in class and lead discussions
on.
Students will be evaluated on their oral proficiency and vocabulary acquisition in Tagalog by the end
of the term.
This exam will cover chapters 1-33 in an essay and identification type test.
This exam will cover chapters 34-64 in an essay and identification type test.
