PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release

I.A.F.F. LOCAL 191 SUPPORT FOR CITY COUNCIL

CHALLENGERS

On September 12, the citizens of Watertown will be given their first chance in determining what
path the future of Watertown will travel by voting in the primary election. While it is no secret
that the relationship between Local 191 and the City Council is contentious, this election can
generate a paradigm shift that restores harmonious labor relations.
While we thank them for their service to the City, Local 191 believes that the incumbents have
had countless opportunities to make real and positive differences regarding our labor relations.
Instead they have found themselves mired in controversies and are often in discordance with
reality. Their recent attacks against Local 191 have been both belligerent and personal, and
serve only to distort fact and further their fictionalized version of history.
Local 191 believes that any of the three challengers, Mrs. Ruggiero, Mr. Henry-Wilkinson, and
Mr. Olney, all present a better chance for the restoration of amicable relations between Local 191
and the City of Watertown. To foster that transformation IAFF Local 191 has decided to support
all three of the challengers in the primary, with official endorsements to follow for the general
election. Local 191 wishes the challengers luck in the primary, and looks forward to
strengthening our support in the upcoming general election.
Respectfully,

Daniel Daugherty
President - I.A.F.F. Local 191 Watertown, NY
