2. PRESENTACIN

Describing place is one of the most important skills a person can develop in a second language. Whether
using a language in a school, an office, a factory, or a tourist site, there will always be many situations that
require you to describe a location and the objects in it. By learning to describe location, you can greatly
improve your ability to use English in real-world environments. At the end of this guide you will be able to:
use prepositions of place to form sentences about physical locations, use adjectives to describe the nature
of places, and use the adjectives some/any to differentiate between singular and plural subjects.

is is used with either singular or uncountable subjects. There are is used for plural subjects. See the table

Part 2. The Quantifiers Some /Any, Common Adjectives used to Describe Places
The words some and any are used when the speaker cannot specify or does not need/want to specify a
number or an exact amount.

English has many adjectives that can be used to describe common objects and places. Below are some
