Presentation Checklist

Presentation Slides Checklist Tick


Have you ensured that you have an introductory slide?

Does your introductory slide include:

Your student name (s) and student number (s)

The module name and module code

The title of your presentation

Your tutor name

The date of the presentation

Does your presentation include an outline of what you will speak about?

Have you clearly indicated what your thesis statement is?

Have you ensured that your presentation has an introduction, main body and
conclusion?

Have you ensured that there are clear links between each section?

Have you used bullet points to state your main ideas?

Have you chosen appropriate visuals to accompany your text?

Have you ensured that there is not too much text on each slide?

Have you included an in-text citation (author name and year of publication) for
each idea that is not your own?

Have you included a correctly formatted reference list?


(Remember it should be in alphabetical order according to the surname of the
author)
Presentation Checklist
When presenting remember the following points:

Always rehearse with your partner/group beforehand


Ensure that your timing is correct do not go over the time limit
Ensure that all members of the group know each part of the
presentation, not just the part they are presenting
Use sequencing/linking/signposting words to guide the audience so that
they can easily follow you (e.g. Firstly, Secondly, Furthermore, In
addition, Finally,)
Ensure that your language is suitably academic
Use note-cards as a guide rather than using a piece of paper
Try not to look at the projector screen or your notes too much
Try to maintain all-round eye contact
Anticipate questions that the audience may have before the
presentation, so that you are prepared to answer them
Ensure that you have a good introduction greeting the audience,
introducing you and your partner
Ensure that you inform the audience that there will be a question and
answer session at the end of the presentation
Use presentation language and good handover language when handing
over to a co-presenter
Make sure you bring one paper copy of the presentation per presenter
to give to your tutor before the presentation starts
Check the technology in the room before presenting ideally have your
presentation on a memory stick (USB) so that you can use this
In addition, have a back-up copy of your presentation in your email so
that you can also access the presentation via email
