Guidelines for Candidates

Candidate Eligibility Requirement

1. A minimum CPI of 7.0 is required to contest elections; with the condition that this CPI should
be maintained through the elected persons tenure (grade sheet is required at the time of
nomination).
2. Only registered students who are regular residents of Hall-IV and who will be here for the
entire tenure of office (i.e. at least one year) are eligible to contest.
3. All candidates are required to give information about all instances of disciplinary action (fines
etc.) that have been taken against them by the hostel/institute, in their nomination forms.
Failure to do so would result in cancellation of their candidature. The information submitted
by the candidates will be available to any hall resident for scrutiny.

Important Rules/Guidelines

1. Candidate shall submit the manifesto along with one passport size photo during the
submission of nomination form. (Latest semester gradesheet is mandatory)
2. Campaigning will start only after the declaration of the final list of candidates. Campaigning
time is from 9 a.m. to 12.00 midnight. Candidates can campaign and canvass for votes by
meeting and talking to individual voters or groups. Please avoid circulating printed material to
individuals or groups. The giving of any inducement to a voter is not allowed.
3. A candidate can put up one poster in the designated notice board area in Hall-IV. Putting up of
posters or other campaign material in other parts of the hall is not allowed.
4. Please do not use email/social media/texting for campaigning.
5. A SOP box for all candidates will be held in Hall-IV quad on 08-04-2017 at 6 PM.
6. It is mandatory for all candidates to explain their manifesto and not to criticize others
work during SOP box. Request to entire hall junta to ask questions to candidate related
to his manifesto only.
7. Campaigning/canvassing can take place till the start of the SOP box.
8. The election will be conducted by the Chairman, Election Committee. It will be overseen by an
oversight committee of two other members of election committee. The Warden-in-charge will
be the appellate authority for any complaints.
9. The oversight committee will ensure that candidates follow the rules and will bring to the
notice of the Chairman Election Committee and Warden-in-charge any breach of rules.
10.Whomsoever Candidates break the rules or give incorrect information in their nomination
form are liable to have their candidature cancelled.
11. Institute I-Card is mandatory for voting.
