MEE315 PROCESS INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL

Experiment No :1
Date :
AIM:

To study the performance of the following controller modes in a level process analyzer
Proportional controller
Proportional Derivative controller
Proportional Integral Derivative controller.
PROCESS ANALYZER DIAGRAM:

PROCEDURE:

1. Ensure the connecting cables are connected between computer and level process controller.
2. Apply air pressure more than 35psi to pressure regulator and regulate the output to 20psi.
3. Invoke process control software and select level process analyzer.
4. Select the controller modes (P, PD and PID) and enter the respective valid process
parameter (Kp, Ki and Kd).
5. Check whether the controller output and control valve opening is 100% before switching
the motor.
6. Switch on the pump and adjust the bypass valve to get desired flow rate through the control
valve.
7. View the response for a given set points values until steady state reached.

8. Repeat the procedure 1-7 for other controller modes and view the response.

GRAPH:

Draw the response graph with respect to time clearly indicating process variable, set point,
band width and control valve position and calculate OFFSET for each controller modes and compare.
