The Houston Food Bank has a history of providing disaster relief.

Hurricane Harveys scale and

destruction to Southeast Texas was monumental. An unprecedented number of people in the greater
Houston area have been affected by the flooding. For individuals who already struggle to provide for
their familys basic needs, the flooding is even more catastrophic.
The Houston Food Bank is responding through these efforts:

Relief Efforts
Houston Food Bank is working closely with the County and City Governments to provide
food and supplies to their Points of Distribution throughout the city. Additionally, we are
working with Feeding America and Feeding Texas to coordinate large-scale donations
from across the country. These efforts will continue over the next weeks and months to
serve those in need.

Our Client Assistance Program, which provides SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance
Program, formerly food stamps) application assistance, deployed field staff to help
evacuees at shelters at the George R. Brown Convention Center and Reliant Center.

Volunteers

Hundreds of people are coming every day to help the Houston Food Bank. We will need
volunteers for months to come.

Food Donations

We are distributing 3 to 4 times more product than usual every day and we expect it
to increase. We could begin distributing a million pounds a day soon. Weve received
six truckloads per hour and are taking in product 24 hours a day. Curbside donation
collection is available for individuals who want to drop-off items.
Agencies/Clients

180+ agencies are up and running across our 18 county service area. Those who
are open will receive large deliveries of food and water for distribution to serve the
community.

Donations to our Harvey Disaster Response Fund make all of this work possible now and as our
response efforts ramp up. Houston Food Bank will be here for the long-term to help struggling families
for the years to come.
