SECTION 3-1 AIRFIELD LIGHTING SYSTEM

AIRFIELD LIGHTHING SYSTEM

1.0 RUNWAY 33 PRECISION APROACH CATEGORY I LIGHTING.

1.1 SYSTEM DESCRITION ;

a.Center line barrette lights be palced on the extended center line of the runway
extending over a distance of 900 m from the threshold.
b.Crossbar lights shall be palced at 300 m from the threshold in a horizontal
straight line at right angles to, and besected by, the line of the center line light.
c.Capacitor discharge light shall be added to each center line barrette except first
barrette from threshold.
d.Center line barrette and crossbar light shall be fixed unidirectional light showing
variable white.
e.Capasitor discharge light shall be able to flast twice a second in sequence
showing white begining with the authermost light and progresing toward the
threshold to the innermost light of the system.
f.Aproach lighting system excep capasitor discarge light, shall be controled in five
briliancy stages of 100 percent, 25 percent, 5 percent, 1 percent, and 0.2 percent
of full briliancy.

1.2. MATERIAL.

1) LIGHT FITTINGS.

a. type for center line barrette and crossbar light ; hight intensity ;
unidirectional ; single 6.6 amp ,150 or 200 Watt ; and light intensity
distribution as follows :
(1) Minimum average intensity shall be 20.000 candelas in area of 20 degrees
in vertical shall not exceed 1.5 times actual average.
b. type ; for capacitor discharge light, unidirectional ; single xenon flasing lamp ;
and ligght intensity ditribution as follows.
(1). Not less than 6.000 candellas ( effective value ) over a beam with of 30
degrees in horizontal and 10 degrees in vertical.
(2). Peak intensity ; 10.000 to 17.000 candelas (effective value).
c. Each fitting forn center line light and crossbar light shall consist of:
(1). Resinous molded or cast alumunium alloy housing..
(2). Spun anodized alumunium prabolic reflector.
(3). Heat resitant spreader glass lens.
(4), pre-focus type lamp-holder or a sealed lamp requiring no focusing at time
of installation or at serving.
(5). Grounding terminal.
d. Each fitting for center line light and crossbar light shall be light
weight,suitable for ground mounting and allow adjusment of the beam in
vertical between 0 and 30 degrees from the horizontal.
e. Each unit for capacitor dicharge light shall consist of light fitting and power
unit as follows:
Light Fitting :
(1). Alumunium alloy housing.

(2). Reinforced front glass with not less than 3 mm thickness.


(3). Xenon dicharge lamp.
(4). Electrolycally anodized,anodic oxidized Alumunium reflector.
(5). Lead Cable.
(6). Elevation angle of beam axis shall be adjustable by 2-degree from 0 to 15
degress the elevation angle adjuster shall be provided for leveling
correction.
Power unit:
(1). Rigidly contructed,alumunium plate of not less than 2.3 mm thick water
proof type housing.
(2). Chassis,made of stainlles steel or aluminum plate treated with protective
film,pull out type.
(3). Door with handle.
(4). Flashing circuit.
(5). Lightning arrester.
(6). Interior light.

2). DISTRIBUTION PANEL FOR SFL.

a. GENERAL.

(1). This panel shall be installation at local substation near 33 runway end and
supply the power 1/3 W 220 V at sequenced flashing light.
b. MAJOR COMPONENTS shaal be as follows:
(a). 1: type 3 controller for SFL.
(b). 1: Main Molded case circuit Breaker ( MCCB).
(c), 2: Branch Molded case Circuit Breakers (MCCB).
(d). 2: Electromagnetic Controctor.
(e). 1: Tranfomer for control.
(f). 1: indicator for Receiving Power.
3). CABLE: As specified under section 14.10 1) : 5.000 Volt.
4). ISOLATING TRAFORMERS : As Specified under Section 14.10,3) : 200 W.

1.3. INSTALLATION.

a. As shown in the drawings, elevated type light fitting shall be installated on the
top of the gavanized steel pipe and steel structure,which is to be fitted to the
normal bend housed in the concrete base.
b. Srface type light fitting shall be installated in the base box,in Elevation the
axist of the beams of the hight intensity approach light shall be set as follows:
Approach Centerline and Croos- bars.
Threshold to 315 m : 4,5 degrees.
316 to 475 m : 5.0 degrees.
476 to 640 m : 5.5 degrees.
641 to 900 m : 6.0 degrees.
The hight Intensity approach light be intallated as accurlatelly as practicable
but in no case shall the error be greated than + 0.25 degrees.
c. Exact position of llight fitting to be installed shall be subyect to the engineer at
the site.

1.4. CABLE.

As Specified under specified under section 14.10 1) : 5000 volt.

1.5. ISOLATING TRIFORMERS ;

As spesified under section 14.10, 3); 200 Waat.

2.0 RUNWAY 15 MEDIUM INTENSITY APPROACH LIGHTING.

2.1. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION:

a. Center line barrete light shaal be palced on the extended centar line of the
runway extending over a distance of 420 m from the centar line light.
b. Crossbar light shaal be placed at 300 m from the threshold in a horizontal
straight line at right angle to and bisected by the line of the center line light.
c. Center line berrete and Crossbars light shall be fixed omni directional light
showing variabel white.
d. Approach lighthing system shall be cotroled in five briliancy stage of of 100
percent,25 percent,5 percent,1 percent and 0.2 percent of full brilliancy.

2.2. MATERIALS.

1) LIGHT FITTINGS ;

a. type : for center line barrete and crossbar light : medium intecity ; omni-
directional single 6.6 amp,100 watt,and light intensity ditribution as
follows:
(1) Minimum averrage intensity shall be 400 candelas over a beam width of
6 degrees at an elevation of 8 degrees.
b. Each fitting for center line light shall consist of:
(1). Resinous molded or cast alumunium alloy housing.
(2). Heat resitant glass lens dome.
(3). Grounding terminal.
c. Each fitting for centerline light and crossbar light shall be light
weight,suitable for ground mounting and allow adjustment the beam in
vertical between 0 and 30 degrees from the horizontal.

2.3. INSTALLATION.

a. As showm in the drawing,elevated type light ftting shall be installed on the


mounting base.
b. Exact position of light fitting to be intalled shall be subyect to the approval of
the Engineer at the site.

2.4. MOUNTING BASE.

a. the mounting base,shall contain tranformer box.


b. The mounting base shall be so erected as to be capable of supporting the light
ftting horizontal balanced with in a tolerance of + 2 % gradien.
c. The mounting base shall be made of class D concrette specified in Civil
Specifications.

2.5. CABLE.

As specified under section 14.10.1) : 5000 volt.


2.6. ISOLATING TRANFORMERS :

As specified under section 14.10.3) : 100 watt.

3.0 PRECISION OPPROACH PATH INDICATOR.

3.1. SYSTAEM DESCRIPTION.

a. The precision approach path indicator (PAPI) sytems for runway 15 and
runway 33 shall consis of wing bar of four (4) light unit equally spaced.The
system shall be located on the left side of the runway.
b. The PAPI system shall be cotroled in three (3) brilliancy steps of 100
percent,30 percent and 10 percent of the runway.

3.2. MATERIALS.

1). LIGHT UNITS:

a. Type : A units specifycally designed for the function is required to contain


lamp,optical projector designed to emit white and red signals,fiters,lead
cables and shall be completely housed in a fiber glass housing.
b. White sector light ditribution :
(1). Horizontal light ditribution :
a). 70.000 Candelas over beam width of 8 degrees.
b). 20.000 cadelas over beam width of 20 degrees.
(2). Verticale light ditribution : intensity not less than:
a). 70.000 candelas over beam width of 3.2 degrees.
b). 20.000 candelas over beam width of 8 degrees.
(3). Peak intensity light Ditribution:
c. Red sector light Ditribution:
(1). Horizontal light ditribution intensity not less than :
a). 10.000 candelas over beam width of 8 degrees.
b). 3.000 candelas over beam width of 20 degrees.
(2). Vertical light ditribution : intensity not less than :
a). 10.000 candelas over beam width of 3.2 degrees.
b). 3.000 candelas over beam width of 8 degrees.
(3). Peak intensity : Not less than 12.500 candelas.
a. pink transition Zone in the vertical plane shall be a vertical angle of not more
than 3 minutes.
b. Light unit housing shall be guaranted against distortion due to sun or orther
climatis condition prevallng at site.
c. Light unit Support:
(1).Provide adjustable ground mounting plate and rods or optical bench
whichallows lateral and tranverse horizontal adjusment to fasilitate the
final anguler and horizontal setting of the units.
(2). Adjustment shall be variable over the range of 1.5 to 4.5 degress in angle
of elevation .

3.3. INSTALLATION.

a. Each light init shall be installated on a concrete base using a frang gible
coupling as shown in the Drawing.
b. The lower edge of the stots shall be within + 30 cm of the average level of the
runway edge line.
c. Exact position of light fitting to be installed shall be subyect to the approval of
the engineer at the site.
d. Mounting base , Mounting base shall be made of class D concrete specified in
civil specifications.

3.4. TRNFORMER BOX.

a. Tranformer boxes made of class D concrete as specified in civil Specification


shall be erected as shown in the drawing beside the mounting base.
b. Each tranfomer box shall be to the mounting base with 50 mm dia.galvanised
steel pipe.
3.5. ISOLATION TRNFORMER.

As speccipied under section 14.10.3) :200 watt.

4.0. RUNWAY EDGE LIGHTING SYSTEM.

4.1. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION.


a. High intensity be-directional light fitting placed edge along both edges of
runway,over entire length of 2.500 metres,and placed unifomly at not more
than 60 meter intervals.
b. Light fitting for a ditance of 600 meters from both threshold shaal be equipped
with aviation yellow filter to show color only at remote and of runway; with
all other light fitting showing clear when viewed from approaching aircraft.
c. Runway edge lighting system shall be controled in five briliance stages of 100
percent,25 percent,5 percent,and 0.2 percent of full briliance.

4.2. MATERIALS.

1). LIGHT FITTING.

a. type : single 6.6 amp tungten halogen lamp 150 Elevated type,double,6.6
amp,100 wattfor surface type ;be-Directional light ditribution toed in 2.75
degrees.
(1). Light Distribution :minimum Average intensity shall be 10.000
candelas within 9.5 degrees in horizontal and 6.8 degrees in vertical
peak intesity shall not exceed 1.5 times actual average.
b. Each fitting shaal consist of :
(1). Resinous Mold or cast alumunium housing for Elevatewd type.cast
alumunium alloy housing for surface type.
(2). One- plece heat resistance glass globe for elevated type,two-plece of
heat resistant glass ring for surface type.
(3). Pre- focused lamp holder.
(4). Colour fillter mounting assembly.
(5). Aviation Yellow filter , as requered.

c. Each fitting shall be weatherproof and shall have the Facillities forleveling
optical system after installation. Elevated type fitting shall be suitable for
ground mounting with frangible stem or coupling.

4.3. INSTALLATION.
1). Elevated type light fitting shall be installed on base box using a frangible
coupling as shown in the Drawing at a distance of 1.5 m from the runway edge.
2). Surface type light fitting shall be installed in the provement as shown in the
Drawing at a distance of 1.5 m from the runway edge.
3). Install Equipment component and Accesories per manufacturer intruction and
per shop drawing as approved.

4.4. TRANSFORMER BOX.

1). Tranformer boxes mode of class D concrete as Specified in Civil


Specifications shall be erected as shown on the drawing aloang approviatelly
equal distance from the edge of both shoulders.
2). Each tranformer box shall be conected to the edge of walk wayat
runwayedge with 40mm dia, galvanized steel pipe under the shoulders.

4.5. CABLE.

As specifiedunder section 14.10.1) : 5000 volt.

4.6. ISOLATING TRANFORMER.

As Specified under section 14.10.1) : 100 or 200 watt.

5.0. STOPWAY LIGHTING SYSTEM.

5.1. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION.

1). Stopway lighting system shall consist of 5 elevated uni directional light fitting
with aviation red filter. Stopway light shall be installed in two paralel row that
are equal ditance from the centerline and coincident with the rows of the
runway edge lightand also installed across the end of the stopway on a line at
right angles to the stopway axist for both stopways for runway 15 and runway
33.
2). Stopwaylighting system shall be controled in five briliancy stages of 100
percent,25 percent,5 percent, and 0.2 percent of full brilliance.

5.2. MATERIAL.

1). LIGHT FITTING

a. Type ; Single 6.6 amp,65 watt ; red,unidirectional.


b. Light intensity ; Average light intensity notless than100 candelas (red) with
a beam widthof a degree and a 15 degrees vertical and 13 degrees
horizontal.

2). CABLE : As specified under section 14.10.1): 5.000 Volt.

3). ISOLATING TRNFORMERS : As specified under section 14.10.3) : 100 watt.

5.3. INSTALLATION
.
1). As shown in drawing, elevated type light fitting shell be installed on the
mounting base.
2). Exact position of light fitting to be installed shall be subyect to the approval of
the engineer at the site.

5.4. MOUNTING BASE

1). The mounting base shall contain a trnformer box.


2). The mounting base shall be so erected as to be capable of supporting the unit
fitting horizontal balanced with in a tolerance of + gradient.
3). The mounting base shall be made of class D concrete Specified in civil
specifications.

5.5. CABLE

As specified under section 14.10.1) : 5000 volt.

5.6. ISOLATING TRANSFORMER

As specified under section 14.10.3) : 100 watt.

6.0. RUNWAY END LIGHT SYSTEM.

6.1. SYTEM DESCRIPTION.

1). Runway end lighting system shall consist of eight (8) high intensity elevated
type light fitting for runway 15 and shall consist of eleven (11) high intesity
surface type light fitting for runway 33. Rasvectively symmetrically disposed
about the runway center line in two group with the fitting unifom spaced at
intervalsof two point four ( 2.4) m in each group and with a gap between two
goups.
2). Ruway and lighting system shall be controlled in five briliancy stages of 100
percent, 25 percent, 5 percent, 1 percent and 0.2 percent of full briliance.

6.2. MATERIAL.

1). LIGHT FITTING :

a. Type : for elevated type:


6.6.amp , 100 W , un-directional, with aviation red fillter.
b. Type : for surface type : 6.6 amp, 100 W and 200 W : be-directional, with
aviation red and green filters.
( 100 W, with aviation red filter, is used as runway end light and 200 watt,
with aviation green filter is used as runway threshold light ).
c. Light intensity Distribution shall be as follows :
(1). Minimum Average intensity shall be 2.500 candelas in area of 9 degrees
in horizontal and 0.8 degrees in vertical.

Peak intesity shall not exceed 1.5 times actual average.


(2). Peak intensity : not less than 15.000 candelas in white.
d. Each fitting for elevated type shall consist of :
(1). Resinous molded or cast alumunum alloy housing.
(2). Spun anodized alumunum parabolic reflector.
(3). Front Glass.
(4). Pre-focused type lamp- holder.
e. Each fitting for surgface type shall consist of and aluminum alloy casting
optical hhead and outer ring with steel base junction box designed for
installation in concrete and of sufficient size to house isolating transformer.

6.3. INSTALLATION.

1). Each fitting shall be installed in the base box as shown in the drawing.
2). Exact position of light fitting to be installed shall be subyect to the approval of
the engineer at the site.

6.4. MOUNTING BASE.

1). The mounting base shall containt the transformer box.


2). The mounting base shall be made of class D concrete specified in civil
Specifications.
6.5. CABLE.
As specified under section 14.10.3) : 100 watt.

7.0 RUNWAY THRESHOLD LIGHT SYSTEMS.

7.1 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

1). Runway threhold lighting system shall consist of twenty one (21) high
intensity surface type light fitting for runway33 and fourteen ( 14 high intensity
elevated type light fiiting for runway 15 and elevated type wing bars formed by
five (5) light shall be additonally installed on each sidfe of runway33 threhold.
2). On runway 15,threhold light fitting shall be symmetrically placed about the
runway center line in two groups with the fitting uniformly spaced at intervals
of to point for ( 2.4) m in each group and with a gap between the groups.On
runway 33,threhold light fitting shall be uniformlyplaced at interval of topoint
four (2.4) m between the rows of runway edge lights.
Wing bar light shall be installed at intervals of to point four (2.4) m and at righ
angles to the line of the runway edge lights, with the innermost lihgt of each
wing bar in the line of the runway edge light.
3). Runway threshold lighting system shall be controled in five briliance stages of
100 percent, 25 ppercent, 5 percent, 1 percent and 0.2 percent of full brilliancy
.
7.2. MARERIAL

1). LIGHT FITTING.

a. Type : for elevated type.


6.6 amp, 150 W or 200 W : unidirectional, with aviatin green filter.
b. Type : for surface type.

(1). 6.6 amp 200 W and 100 W ; bi-directional, with aviation green and
red fillter .(200 W with aviation green filter is used as runway
threshold andlight 100 W, with aviation red filter is used as runway
and light)
(2). 6.6 amp ,200 W : un-directional , with aviation green filter.
c. Light intensity ditribution shall be as follows.
(1). Threshold light :
a). Minimum average intensity shall be 10.000 candelas in area of
9.5 degrees in horizontal and 5 degrees in vertical.
Peak intebsity shall not exceed 1.5 times actual average.
(2). Wing bar lights :
a). Minimum average intensity shall be10.000 candelas in the area of
degrees in horizontal and 4 degrees in the vertical.
Peak intensity shall not exceed 1.5 time aktual average.
(3). Peak intensity : Not less than 15.000 candelas in white.
d. Each fitting for elevated type shall consist of :
(1). Resinous molded or cast aluminum alloy housing.
(2). Span anodized aluminum parabolic reflector.
(3). Front glass.
(4). Pre- focused type lamp-holder.
e. Each fitting for surface type shall consist of an aluminum alloy casting
optical head and outer ring with steel base junction box designed for
installasi in concrette and of sufficient size to house isolating trnsformers.

7.3. INSTALLATION.

1). Each ftting shall be installed in the base box as shown in the drawing.
2). Elevated type light fitting shall be installed on the top of the frangible coupling
wich is to be fitted to the base box.
3). Exact position of light fitting to be installed shall be subyect to the approval of
the engineer at the site.

7.4. MOUNTING BASE.

The mounting base shall containt the tranformer box.


The mounting base shall be made of class D concrete specified in civil
specifications.

7.5. CABLE.

As specified under section 14.10.1) : 5000 Volt.

7.6. ISOLATING TRANFORMER.

As specified under section 14.10.3) : 200 watt.

7.0. TAXWAY EDGE LIGHTING SYSTEM.

8.1. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION.

a. Taxway edge lighting shall consist of elevated type light along adges of all
taxiway and aprons ; as shown in teh drawings.

b. Additional light shall be provided to indicate exits and entrances to and from
runway and aprons; as shown in the drawing.

8.2. MATERIAL.

1). LIGHT FITTINGS.

a. Type : single 6.6 amp,30 omni-directional tungsten halogen lamp with heat
resistant aviation blue or red lens.
(1). Light distrbution : Beam light intensity notless than 2 candelas in blue
and 5 candelas in red over a beam width of 6 degrees in a vertical plane
at an elevation of 3 degrees (blue).
(2). Peak intensity : not less than 3 candelas (blue).
b. Each fitting shall consist of :
(1) Resinous mold or cast aluminum housing .
(2) Pre- focused lamp holder.
(3) Heat resisten eviation blue colored lens or red colored lens.
c. Each fitting shall be weatherproof, suitable for ground mounting with
frangible stem or coupling and shall have facilities forleveling optical
system after installation.

8.3. INSTALLATION

Each fitting shall be fitted on the base box using a frangible coupling as shown in
the drawingat a distance of 1.5 m from the taxiway and apron and pavement edge.

8.4. TRANFORMER BOX

a. Tranformer boxes made of class D concrete as sfecified in civil specification


shall be erexted as shown in the drawing along appropriately equal distance
from the edgeof shoulders.
b. Box each trnformer shall be connected with the edge of wire way at taxiway
and apron pavement edge with 40 mm dia,galvanized steel pipe under the
shoulders.

8.5. CABLE.

As Specified under section 14.10.1) : 3000 volt.

8.6. ISOLATING TRANSFORMER.

As specified under section 14.10.3) : 60 watt.

8.0. TAXIING GUIDANCE SIGNS.

9.1. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

a. Taxiing guidance signs shall consist of infomation sign to provide guidance


information to pilot.
b. Taxiing guidance signs shall indicate a specific location or destination on a
mavement area, or to provide other information.

c. Taxiing guidance sign shall be suplied with power from taxiway edge lighting
circuit.

9.2. MATERIAL

1). LIGHT UNITS.

a. Sign panel shall be of approximate 1 mm thick steel plate and inscription


parts shall be of acrylic resin plate.
b. Sign shall be of yellow inscription on a black back ground.
c. Light unit shall be illuminated internally and employ a 6.6 amp. 60 W
inscandecent lamp for each letter and mark.
d. Light unit shall have adequate structural strength to with stand the jet blast
from aircraft engines.
e. Light unit shall be of light weight Frangible conturction.
f. Light unit supporting pipe shall be with frangible coupling at the bottom.
g. Lighting fixture shall be provided for the easy maintenance.

9.3. INSTALLATION

a.Each guidance sign shall be fitted on the concrete base using a frangible
coupling as shown in the drawing.
b.Exact position of light fitting to be installed shall be subyect to the approval of
teh engineer at the site.

9.4. MOUNTING BASE

a. The mounting base shall be erected so as to be capable of supporting the light


fitting horizontally balanced within a tolerance + 20% gradient.
b. The mounting base shall be made of class D concrete Specified in civil
Specifications.

9.5. TRANSFORMER BOX

a. Trasformer box made of class D concrete as specified in civil specifications


shall be erected as shown in the drawing beside the mounting base.
b. Each transformer box shall be connected to the mounting base with 50 mm dia
galvanized steel pipe.

9.6. CABLE

As Specified under section 14.10.1) : 3000 volt.

9.7. ISOLATING TRANSFORMER

As Specified under section 14.10.3) : 200 Watt.

10.0. AERODROME BEACON.

10.1 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION.

a. The aerodrome beacon shall be installed on the of the contrl tower.

b. The aerodrome beacon shall show aviation green flashes alternating with
white flashes. The frequency of total flashes shall be 28 per minute.
c. Aerodrome beacon shall be controled at VFR room of control tower and at
AFL cotrol room in main substation.

10.2. MATERIALS

1). AERODROME BEACON.

a. Aerodrome beacon shal employ a reguler use 2500 watt lamp,and stand by
use lamp which shall be automaticaly change in regular lamp position and
lighted when reguler lamp bum out.
b. Light intensity distirbution
Minimum peak intesity shall be 1.000.000 candelas in white light and
150.000 candelas in green light, and the vertical distribution of light
intesity shall be as follows.

c. Component.
Aerodrome beacon shall consist of :
(1). Lantern housing made of alumunium alloy, Containing optical system
green filters double lamp holder, lamp changing mechanism, and
regular lamp failure indication circuit.
(2). Turning gear with housing marge of rigid cast iron or alumunium alloy
casting,completely weather proop containing sliprings,induction motor
reduction gear box assembly and distribution panel with main,lamp and
motor switches ,etc.
(3). Obstacle light mounted on supporting structure to indicate reguler lamp
bum-out.

10.3. INSTALLATION.

a. The beacon shall be mounted on the top of the control tower as in the
Drawing.
b. Exact position of light fitting to be installed shall be subyect to the approval of
the engineer of the site.

10.4. BEACON SUPPORT STRUCTURE

Structure shall be made of steel and hot dipped galvanized uniformly.


SECTION 3-1 AIRFIELD LIGHTING SYSTEM

11.0. ILLUMINATED WIND DIRECTION INDICATOR.

11.1. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION.

a. illuminated wind direction indicator shal be installed near both and of the
runway so as to be visible in flight or on the movement area in such a way as
to be free from the effect or air diturbances caused by near by obyect.
b. Illuminated wind direction indicator shall be marked by a circular band. The
band shall be centered about the direction indicator support.

11.2. MATERIAL.

1). Illuminated wind direction indicator.

a. wind cone shall be made of nylon fabroc and shall bemade that it takes the
shape of a truncated cone when it is filled with air.
b. Colour of wind cone shall be arange.
c. Wind cone shall be not less than 3.6 m in lengh and not less than 0,9 in
throat diameter.
d. Wind cone shall be illuminated by four light ficture of 200 watt tungtens
lamp light fictures shall be flased and aimed to minimize obyectionable
galre to aircraft pilots.
e. Obtruction light of 220 V 100 W shall be mounted at the highest point of the
wind cone assembly.

2). CABLE : As spesified under section 14.10.1).

11.3. INSTALLATION.

The support polle of the indicator shall be erected on a concrete base to be made
as indicated in the drawing.
The Contractor shall subunit the drawing of proposed supporting structure and its
structural calculation with request for aproval.

11.4. CIRCULAR BAND.


11.5.
The indicator shall be marked by a 15 meters circular band in diameter and 1.2
meters wide,centered around the supporting structure and coloured white.
Both inside and outside of the circular band as described above shall be paved by
asphalt concrete as shown in the class D concrete Specified in civil specifications
shall be used for the concrete base and the circular band.

12.0. APRON FLOOD LIGHTING SYSTEM.

12.1. THIS SECTION includes flood lighting system spot number light and related
work.
12.2. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION.
1.2.2.1 APRON FLOOD LIGHTING SYSTEM.

a. Apron flood light shall mounted on poles and each pole shall carry metal
halide lamp floodlight and hight preassure sodium lamp floodlights.

b. Apron floodlight shall be installed to provide adiquate illumination to all


apron serxvices areas,with a minimum of glare to pilots of air craft in flight on
the ground and to air traffic controler in the control tower.
c. The average horizontal illuminance on air craft stands shall be not less than 20
lux with uniformity ratio ( average to minimum ) of not more than 4 to 1 in
horizontal and notless than 20 lux at height of 2 m above the apron in relevant
direction in vertical.
d. The average horizontal illuminance on the apron,except where service
function are taking place, shall be not less than 50 percent of the average
horizontal illuminance of theaircraft stands.
e. Apron floodlight shall be controlled from afron contrl panel which is installed
in apron movement control room at adminitration building and shall be
switched off for maintinance work at apron switch panel which is installed on
apron floodlighting pole.

12.2.2. SPOT NUMBER LIGHTS.

a. Spot number lights be classified into to types,one is a wall mounted type and
the orther is self-supported type.
b. Spot number ilght shall show parking spot number clearly to pilots aircraft on
the apron.
c. Spot number light shall flicker with an interval between one and to second and
the flicker intervals shall be adjustable.
d. Spot number lights shall be controled from the apron movement control room.

13.0. MATERIALS

12.3.1. APRON FLOOD LIGHTING SYSTEM.

1). LIGHT FITTING.

a. Narow beammetal halide lamp floodlight : 1.000 watt type and 400 watt
type.
(1). Horizontal light Distribution : Intensity not less than 900 cd ? 1.000
lumens over beam width of 22 degrees.
(2). Vertical light Distribution : Intensity not less than 900 cd ? 1.000
lumens over beam width of 7 degrees upward and 11 degrees
downward.respectively from luminous axis.
(3). Not more than 10.000 cd at the point of 15 degrees upward from
luminous axis.
(4). Peak Intensity : Not less than 9.000 cd / 1.000 lumens.
b. Wide Beam high perssure sodium lamp floodlight : 700 watt type and 400
watt type.
(1). Horizontal light Distribution : Intensity not less than 70 cd / 1.000
lumens over beam width of 110 degrees.
(2). Vertical light Distribution : Intensity not less than 70 cd / 1.000 lumens
over beam width of 10 degrees upward and 35 degrees and 35 degrees
downward,respectively from luminous axis.
(3). Not more than 10.000 cd at the point of 15 degrees upward from
luminous axis.
(4). Peak Intensity : Not less than 700 cd / 1.000 lumens.

400 watt type.

over beam width of 7 degrees upward and 11 degrees
downward,respectively from luminous axis.
(3). Not more than 10.000 cd at the point at 15 degrees upward from
luminous axis.
(4). Peak intesity : Not less than 6.000 cd / 1.000 lumens.
d. Housing : Steel sheet with electrolytically polished aluminum reflector and
reinforced gglass for front cover.
e. All fitting shall be designed for :
(1). Pole mounting.
(2). Maximum Adjusment Capability in both vertical and horizontal planes
to facilitate final adjusment.
(3). Withstanding high temperatures.
(4). Weatherproof.

2). BALLASTS.

Ballasts shall be constant wattage type or reactor type with a power factor not
less than 85 percent.
Ballasts cover shall be stainless plate or equivalent material wich with stands
heavily saltladen atmosphere

3). APRON FLOODLIGHTING POLE.

a. Apron floodlighting pole shall be approximately 20 meter hight above the


groun level.poles shall be made of steel and hot dipped galvanized
uniformly.
b. All poles shall be provided with floodlights.
Cariage to carry apron flood light and balasts and a lighning rod mounted
on the top and grounded.

4). DISTRIBUTION PANEL FOR APRON FLOODLIGHTS.

a. GENERAL.
This panel shall be installed at electrical room in passenger terminal
building and be used for supplying 3 / 4 w 380 V/220 V to apron floodlight
and obtruction light.
b. MAJOR COMPONENTS shall be as follow.

(1). 2 : Main molded Case circuit Breaker (MCCB).


(2). 35 : Branch molded case circuit Breakers (MCCB).
(3). 35 : Electromagnetic contactors (MC).
(4). 6 : Current Tranformers (CT).
(5). 2 : Voltmeter (V).
(6). 2 : Voltmeter change over switch ( VS).
(7). 2 : Ammeter ( A).
(8). 2 : Ammeter change over switch (AS).
(9). 2 : Indicator for Receiving power.

(10). 35 : Local/Remote change-over Switches.


(11). 35 : (OFF) Cotrol Switches for ABN etc.

5) CONTROL BOX FOR APRON

a. GENERAL.
This box shall be installed in administration building and be used for
operating apron flood light.
This box shall be of desk top type Contucrtion.
b. Operating on control Box.
(1). General operation of lighting system shall be operated by one fair of
ON- OFF push button switches.
(2). Each spot lighting shall be operated by onepair of ON-OFF push button
switches respectively.
c. Major component shall be as follows.
(1). 24 self iluminated push button switches.
(2). 12 Votage Relays.
(3). 1 Set terminal board.

6). APRON SWITCH PANEL.

a. apron switch panel shall be mounted onthe lower part of apron


floodlighting pole and used to switch of the apron floodlihgts for
maintenance work.
b. Apron switch panel shall be the weaterproop outdoor type conprising a
steel sheet housing with the tickness specified in Drawing, Molded case
circuit breaker for controling ON-OFF each circuit and terminal boards.

12.3.2. SPOT NUMBER LIGHT.

a. Light panel shall be aproximate of 1.5 mm thick stainless steel plate and
plastic plate for front indication part.
b. Number indicator panel shall be of yellow inscrition on a black back ground.
c. Light unit shall be illuninated internlly and employ five 220 volt , 40 watt
fluerescent lamp or equivalent light.
d. Light unit shall be with adequate stuctural strength for jet blast from engine.
e. Light unit shall be of lightweight frangible contuction.

12.3.3. CABLE. As specified under section 14.10.1).


12.4. INSTALLATION.
a. Prior to erecting the concrete base the cotractor shall place temperary marking
toidentity the actual installation posittion of the light poles determined by him
tyrough detailed site survey,against the corresponding position indicated in teh
Drawing,and shall notify the Engineer accordingly.
b. The contractor shall submit the Drawing of the supporting Structire mounting
base and its Structural calculations to the engineer before commencing the
structure.
c. All poles and accessories shall be hot dipped,galvanized uniformly, A lighting
rod shall be provided at the top of pole and grounded. All poles shall be
finished with two(2) undercoats and two(2) finish coats paints before erection

or installation of the site,the paint colour for the pole shall be approved by the
engineer.

12.5. MOUNTING BASE.

Mounting base of the pole shall be erected undergound of concrete and shall be of
adequate size to support the weight of pole,light fictures, ballasts etc.
The base shall be made of Class D concrete specified in civil specifications.
12.6. CABLE
As specified under section 14.10.1).

13.0 . OBSTRUCTION LIGHTING.

13.1. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

a. Obtruction light shall be of red steady burning light and shall be unstalled on
the apron floodlighting poles and illuminated wind direction indicator as
shown in the Drawing.
b. Obtruction lighting system shall be controled at VFR room of cntrol tower and
at AFL control room in main siubtation.
13.2. MATERIAL

1) LIGHT FITTINGS.

a. Type : omni directional , low intensity having aviation red light distribution of
an intensity of not less than 14 candelas (red) over beam width of 10 degrees
in vertical.
b. Peak instensity shall be not less than 25 candelas (red) and shaal be
estabilished at approximate 10 degrees above horizontal.
c. Fitting shall consist of 220 V AC 100 W Incandescelte of aviation red.

2). CABLE : As specified under section 14.10.1).

14.0. DITIRBUTION AND CONTROL SYSTEM.

14.1. LOGICAL CONTROL SYSTEM

1). GENERAL.

a. The remote control and monitoring system shall comprises a system for
control of the aifield lighting system.
b. Remote operation of the airfield lighting system shall be carried out from the
remote control desk (light control console ) in the VFR room and from local
control desk at AFL control room in main Substation.
c. Cahnge over switch for operating position between remote control desk and
local control desk shall be furnished at local control desk.
d. In under to receive and or transfer the control and monitoring signal between
the desks and facilities, relay panel shall be installed at AFL control room in
main Substayion.
e. DC 100 V shall be used as control power source between relay panel and
remote control desk,constant current regulator and other control

equipment,except for the case between relay panel and local control desk
having electronic interface circuits.
f. DC 100 V shall be supplied by DC power supply board with battery and
charger.

2). Logical control system shall be composed of following equipment.

a. 1 Remote control desk.


b. 1 Local control desk.
c. 1 Relay panel.

3). Operation on remote control desk.

a. All airfield lighting system shall be controled automatically based on the


presed cndition by operating the following selection buttons.
(1). Backround luminance condition DAY , TWILIGHT and NIGHT.
(2). Runway Visual Range (Unit : 100 m).
8- ,8-15 , 16-49 , and 50+ .
(3). Celling (Unit : m ) : 300 and 300+.
(4). Runway direction.
15 or 33 .
b. Refer to the attrached Preset conditions of logical control system.
c. If pilot requests toturn off light controlled at preset one,the change shall be
achieved by operating DIRECT push button switch for each group of
light ,and by operating the same switch again,the fungtion shall be returned to
logical control.
d. If requested,the briliancy step shall be changed by operating up/down push
button switches for the group of light intended.
e. By operating RESETS push button switch,all condition shall be reset
tological control condition.

4). Monitoring and Remote Controldesk.

a. All push button switches for logical control shall be self illuminated type and
these indication aremade by back indication signal via Relay panel from micro
computer of logical control circuit part included inside local control desk.
b. Indications of mimic panel shall be lit by back indication signal from CCR
Output Current,and contact operation of electro magnetic contactor in case of
load circuits not using CCR.
c. One group fault indicator on mimic part shall indicate heavy fault of CCR and
other contrl equipment.

5). Operating in Monitoring on local control desk.

a. In addition to the control fintions of remote control desk, following function


shall be provided in local control desk :
1). Change over for operation position between remote control deskand local
control desk.
2). Manual ON OFF operation per each load group for CCRs.
3). Manual ON OFF operatin formaintinace of AFL excluding loads
connected with CCR.

4). Change over for operating position either logical operatin or manual
operation.
5). Change over for operation position of remote control signal by either
normal use CCR or Stand by CCR.

b. Follwing fault indicators shall be provided.


1). Heavy and light faults for each CCR.
2). Ditto but for each DC power supply.
3). DC control power fault for relay panel.
4). DC and/or AC control power fault for Local control Desk.
c. Alarm electronic buzzer shall ring at heavy fault and another sound buzzer
shall ring at light one as well.
d. Fault indicators shall be flickered as soon as fault occors and continue to
flicker after operating BUZZER STOP STOP Push button switch.
e. Faul indicators shall be reinstated to normal stand-by condition by operating
INDICATION STOP Push button switch.
f. Mimic shall be indicated by indication signals fromm CCR output current and
contact operation of electro magnetic contactor on other circuits which are not
connected with CCR.
g. Monitoring panel for each CCR shall be indicated as follows :
(1). Ammeter for CCR output.
(2). 7 segment indisioaion OVER CURRENT.
(3). DITTO LINE OPEN .
(4). DITTO LOAD TROUBLE .
(5). DITTO EARTH FAULT .

14.2. REMOTE CONTROL DESK.

1). GENERAL

The desk installed in VFR room shall be free standing and contructed of steel
frames and panels.
The desk shall comprise mainly operation parts for light operation and mimic
diagrams.

2). Operatin parts for light operation.


a. The operation part shall be composed mainly of the following.
(1). Self iluminated push button switches for logocal control .
(2). Ditto but for Up / Down.
(3). Ditto but for Direct control .
(4). Dtto bur for Reset.
(5). Sevent segment indicators for Brilliancy step for CCR.
(6). Dhimmer and rheostat for indicators.
(7). Power supply Equipment for control and others.
(8). Fault indicator.
b. operation part shall be maintained and checked from front surface.
c. Indication for operation parts.such as logical control switches,shall be
answered back from output signalof logical control part inside local control
desk.
d. Self-illuminated push button switches shall be light emiting diode type.

3). Mimic part ( facsimile Diagrams).


a. Indication of airfield lihgting system supplied by CCR shall be made via
auxilliary relay by using output current detector inside CCR.
b. In case of airfield lighting system not supplied by CCR,Indication of mimic
diagrams shall be made via Auxilary relays by means of contract of elector
magnetic contactor switching each load circuit ON or OFF.

4). Dimmer for indicator on remote control desk shall be controlled by selecting
DAY TWILIGHT OR NIGHT Switch so as to keep accommodated
brightness.

14.3. LOCAL CONTROL DESK.

1) GENERAL
a. the desk installed in main substation shall be free standing and contructed
of steel frame and fanel.

b. The desk shall be compassed of operation and monitoring part,and control


circuit part.
2). Operation and monitoring Part.
a. Operation and monitoring part shall be compossed mainly of following

position between remote control desk and local control desk.
(3). Self illuminated push bottom Switch for changeover for operation
between Logical control and Manual .
(4). Detto but for ON OFF operation at manual condition.
(5). Ditton but for changeover for remote control signal by either normal
use or stand by use CCR.
(6). Push-bottom switch for Alarm stop .
(7). Ditto but for Alarm reside.
(8). Indicators for receiving power.
(9). Fault Indicators.
b. Selp-illuminated push bottom switches shall be light Emitting diode type.

3). Control Circuit part.

14.4. RELAY PANEL.

1). RELAY PANEL Shall cinsist of voltage relays in sufficient numbers necessary
for interlocking monitoring and controlling of equipment.
2). Relays.
a. Voltage relays shall be plug-in type with transparent cover for dust proof.

b. Voltage relays shall be DC 100 v ratings or less than Dc 100 v.

Battery Capacity shall be desaigned to keep notless than 90 volt for more than
30 minutes at 10 V output.

(2). 2 sets Charger (with one stand by set : total 3 sets ).

14.6. CONTANT CURRENT REGULATOR.

1). GENERAL.

a. Constant current regulators shall beinstalled at AFL equipment room in


main substation.
b. CCRs shall be fixed on,horizontally balaced base of channel with steel
anchor bolted to the floor, in such a manner that the front side of all
CCRs shall be in one vertical plane..
c. CCRs shall be of Thyristor type Controlled by semi conductorized
controling circuit.

2). Performance requirement shall beas follows :

d. The output current tolerance of the regulation shall be within + 0.1 A each
tap current value of 6 to 606 A and within + 0.13 A of each tap current
value less than 6.0 A Specified in above table for the optional load from a
quarter to full load in case the rated voltage of rated frequency has ben
applied toinput terminals.
Above mentioned tolerance shall be kept on case of alternation within +
10 % of input voltage,in case lamps corresponding to 10% of load
cafacity are open circuited the above mentioned requirements shall be stiil
be met.
e. The Output voltage ( Effective Value ) shall not be more than 140 % of
the rate value case the load circuit is opened at the rate input voltage.
f. The total efficiency of the regulator shall not be less than 90 % of the rate
output,with a load of 100 power factor.
g. The primary power factor of the regulator at the rate output shall not be
less than 90 % with the load of 100 %.
h. Output Tranformer shall be dry type.

3). PROTECTIVE DEVICES shall be provided as follows :

a. Open circuit protective device :


In order to prevent damage by the open secondary load circuit,a protective
device shall be provided to cut off the input magnetic contactor
automatically within 25 Hz and to give and Alarm with an indicating lamp
and a buzzer.
b. Over Current Protective device :
When over current of not less than 7.2 A has flowed continuouly in the
load circuit for 3 to 6 Hz the Portective device shall be provided to stop
the gate pulses for main thyristors quicly and to cut off input magnetic
contactor automatically within 10 Hz and give and Alarm with an
indicating lamp and a Buzzer.
c. load Circuit Trouble Alarm Device.
When 5 % or more of rate lamps are burnt out,or loose contact at cable
connector of load circuit has occured the Alarm device shall give an
Alarm with an indicating lamp and Buzzer.
d. Earth Fault Alarm Device :

14.7. CONSTANT CURRENT TRANSFORMATOR.

1). GENERAL

a. Constant Current tranformer ( CCT ) shall be installed at AFL Equipment


room in the main substation.
b. CCTs shall be fixed on a horizontally balanced base of channel with steel
anchor bolted to the floor , in such as manner thet the front side of all
CCTs shall be in one vertical plan.
c. CCTs shall be the resonance circuit type with one brilliancy step only.

2). PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS :

a. Rated output power :


6.6 A continuously at rated W.
b. Rated input : Phase to phase 380 V 50 Hz.
c. Output Current : Standard setting values shall be 4.8 A 5.2 A or 6.6 A.
d. The output current tolerance of the regulation shall be within 2 % of setting
tap current value for the optional load from a Quarter to full load at rated
input voltage and Frequency.
e. The output voltage ( effective Value ) shall nos be more than 185 % of the
rate value in case load circuit is opaned at the rated input voltage.
f. The total Effficiency of the regulator shalnoe be less than 90 % of the rate
output with the load of 100 % power factor.
g. The primary power factor of the regulator at the rate uotput shall be not less
than 90 % with the load of 100 % power factory.
h. Output Tranformer shall be dry type.

3). PROTECTIVE DEVICE Shall be provided as follows :

a. Open circuit protective device :


In order to prevent damage by theopen scondary load circuit,a protective
device shall be provided to cut of the input magnetic contactor
automatycally within 25 Hz and to give an Alarm with an indication lamp
and buzzer.
b. over current Protective
When open current of not less than 7.2A has flowed continuously in the
load circuit for 3 to 6 Hz the protective device provided to stop the gate
pulses for main thyristors will quicly cut off input magnetic contactor
Automatically within 10 Hz and give an Alarm with and indicating lamp
and bizzer.
c. Load Cicuit Troble Alarm device :
When 5% or more of rate load lamps are burnt out,or loose contact at cable
connector of load circuit has accured the alarm device shall give an alarm
with an indicating lamp and a buzzer.
d. Earth fault Alarm Device.
When The insulating resistance of the load circuit is reduced to less than
the setting value,The alarm device shall give an alarm and indicating lamp
and a buzzer.

14.8. DIRECTION CHANGE OVER SWITCH

1). GENERAL.

a. A switch shall be provided to change over the load circuit in accordance


with wind direction.

b. The main switch shall comprise of a vacuum switch for high tension
voltage.

2). PERFORMANCE Shall be as follows ;

d. Rated control voltage : AC 220 V.

3). Operation

This charge over switch shall be controlled by Electricity normally,but in case


of damage operating coil,and being imposible to control by Electricity,the
switch shall be operated mechanicaily by manual operation.

4). Changing process

in case of changes the circuit former connected circuit shall be connected with
another selacted circutit in parallel for one moment,and after selected circuti is
connected completely,former connected co\ircuit shall be opened.

14.9. DISTRIBUTION PANEL.

1). GENERAL

a. This panel shall be installed at AFL equipment roomin main substation and
be used for supplying AC 380 V or 220 V CCRs aerodrome heacon ( A B
N) illuminated wind direction ( I D W I ) and orther.

(1). The Cable conductor shall be in or lead-alloy coated annealed stranded


copper wires.
(2). The average thickness of the insulation and shealth shall not be less than90

2). PLUGS AND RECEPTACLES

plugs and receptacles for the 5 kV and 3 kV single core Cables shall be
designed for 25A current and for the 600V,two-core cables for 20A.
The plugs and receptacle shall be water light and shall with stand continous use
under the designed ambient temperature range.
The conected plug and receptacle shall resist a pulling force equal to astatic
weight of 5 kg without be coming disconected.
All plugs snd receptacle shall be identical and of uniform manufacture.

All isolating transformer shall be completely waterproof, shall withstand


continous use under the designated ambient temperatures and shall be suitable
for burying in the ground and setting in transformer boxes,as requered,Each
transformer shall be Completely sealed together with the lead cable joints,in
black vulcanized rubber with polychloroprene sheathing of 7 mm or more in
thickness to ensure water tightness.
Two primary lead cables and one secondary lead cable shall be attached to the
Isolating transformer.
The primary lead cable shall be 340mm + 30mm in light,single cored,8 mm2
PN cables,one with receptacle and the other with the a plug,the receptacle and
the plug shall be factory molded.
SECTION 3-1 AIRFIELD LIGHTING SYSTEM

The secondary lead cable shall be of 600V 2x3.5mm2 PNCT,1100mm+ 50mm


in light,and provided with a factory molded recptacle, Isolating transformers
shall show rating information.

4). BARE COPPER WIRES

Bare copper wired for counterpoise installations shall be standard wire with a
minimum size of 16 mm2.
The grounding wires to be used in this work shall be manufactures and tested
in accordance with the appropriate standard autorized in the country of
manufacture,and also equipment.
5). SERIES CIRCUIT CABLE JOINT.

All joint of series circuit cable including their extention,as well as joints with
lead cable of theisolating transformer shall be made by means of the plug and
the receptacle,prior to jointing,the plug and the recptacle shall be thoroughly
cleaned free of grease, dust etc.
Unless outherwise specified,all plug joint shallbe protected by 2 layers of self-
bonding tape,topped by 2 layers of PVC tape,with the exception of all
connection with the secundary lead cable of the isolating transformer , whose
receptacle shall be jointed totheplug of the light fitting by means of a cable
clamp.

6). POWER AND CONTROL CABLE JOINT

joint and terminationof power cableand control cable shall be axacuted in a


manner to be approped by the engineer.

7). INSTALATION

The approximate router of the cable are shower in the drawing,actual laying
position of the cable ducts,trenches and of cable supports shall be determined
with due regard to any obstable that might exist as well as to accessibility of all
such routes,subject to the approval of the engineer prior to the installation.
Pipe ducts shall be used where cable are installed under the pavement
area,where crossing runways,taxy way ,roads and approns those underground
cable shall be protected with galvanized steel pipes,in otherb areas,anti
corrosive metal armored cable shall be used instead of pipe duct.
The series circuit cables,power cable ,control cable and cable of radio
navigational aids and communication shall be allocated separate duct pipes.
When the supply and return circuit are routed together the cable for both
direction shall be laid in the same duct pipe.
However , when one lighting system receuvesits power supply through 2
circuits,the cable for each circuit shallbe laids in separate pipes.
All cable shall be buried at least 600 mm below finished grade except
transformer secondary cable.

Minimum Spacing between cables to be maintained :

Between same voltage cable 60 mm.


Between 20 kV cables and 600 V 300 mm.
Between 20 kV cables and light-current Cables 500 mm.

Between 5 kV cables and 600 V cables 300 mm.


Between 5 kV cables and light current cables 500 mm.

8). BRE CAPPER WIRE INSTALATION.

A standard bare copper wire 16 mm2 minimum size,shall be installed for


lighting protectionof the under ground cable.
The bare copper shall be installed in the same ternch for the entyre length of
the insulated cable.Where cable are installed in parallel and their width exceeds
30cm,the bare copper wire shall be installed in each 30cm width.
The ground rods shall be installed not more than 300m apart around the entire
cablelength the grtounding rods shall bemade of copper or copper or steel
rod,the grounding resistance as a hwole shall be less than 10 ohms

9). CABLE MARKERS :

Cable markers shall be provided and installed with the top surface flush with
gounr level to identify cable routes and joint positions other than tee joints or
cable laid direct in the ground.
Marker shall be incribed with idented lettering reading H.V Cable joint
as apropriate and shall beinstalled at every 50m along the at any change in
direction.

10). TRANSFORMER BOX ( HANDHOLE ).

Tranformer box made of class D concrete as shown in the drawing along and
appropriately equidistant fromthe edge ofboth shuolders.
Each Transformer box shall be connected bemounting base box of
coresponding lightunit by 40mm galvanized steel pipe and flexible stainless
pipe.

11) CONCRITE WORK

Section 5-1 of civil specification shall be refered.

12) EXCAVATION AND BACK FILL WORK.

a. Excavation
The depth and width of excavation shall be minimum for the installation of
above facilities.
The bottom plane of excavation shall be flat.
b. Backfield.
The excavation material shall be used for backfill/ refilling shall be put in
horizontal layer not to exceed 25 cm in depth along the cable,and shall be
compacted tothe original ground condition.

15. RUNWAY THRESHHOLD IDENTIFICATION LIHGTING SYSTEM

15.1. SYSTEM DESCRYPTION

a. Two capacitor dicharging xenon flshing light placed symetrically about the
runway center line ,near the threshold.
b. Light fitting and power units one of which is to include a timer.
c. The light shall be flashing white light a flash frequencies of 2 time a second.

15.2. MATERIAL

1). LIGHT UNITS

a. type : Single capacitor discharge xenon lamp,unidirectional with separated


type 230v 500VA power unit, and light instensity distribution as follows :

(1). Not less than 6000 Candelas (effective value ) over a beam width 30
degrees in horizontal and 10 degrees in vertical.
(2). Peak intensity : 10.000 to 17.000 candelas (effective value).
b. Each inits shall consit of flight fitting and power init as follows

Light ftting :
(1). Aluminum alloy housing.
(2). Reinforced front glass with not less than 3mm thickness.
(3). Xenon discharge lamp.
(4). Electrolitically anodized,anodic oxidized alumunium reflector.
(5). Lead Cable.
(6). Elevation angleof beam axist shall be adjustable by 2 degrees from 0 to
15 degrees ,The elevation angle adjuster shall be provided for leveling
correction.

Power Unit :

(1). Rigidly constructed,Aluminum alloy plate of not less than 2,3 mm thick
water proop type housing.
(2). Chassis, made of stainless steel or aluminum plate treated with
protective fillm,pull out type .
(3). Door with candle
(4). Flashing circuit
(5). Lighting arrestor.

2). CABLE DUCT : As specified.
3). CABLE :As Specified : 300 Volt.

15.3. INSTALLATION

The light fitting shall beinstalled so that thelight beam radiate 15 degrees toward
outside fromextended runway center line and 4,5 degrees upward .
Light units and power units shall be installed on the top of the frangible coupling
which is to be fitted concrete base.

9). CABLE MARKERS :

Cable markers shall be provided and installed with the top surface flush with
ground level to identify cable routes and joint positions.

10)TRANSFORMER BOX (HANDHOLE).

Transformer box made of class D concrete as shown in the drawing allong and
appopriately equidostant from the edge of both shoulders.
Each transformer box shall be connected to the mounting base box of the
corresponding light unit by 40 mm galvanized steel pipe and flexible stainless
pipe.

11). CONCRETE WORK

section 5-1 of civil Specification shall be referred.

12). EXCAVATION AND BACKFILL WORK

a. Excavation.
The depth and width of excavation shall be minimum forthe installation of
above facilities.
The bottom plane of excavation plane of shall be flat.
b. Backfield.
The excavation material shall beused for back fill/refelling shall be put in
horizontal layers not to exceed 25 cm in depth allong the cable and shall be
compacted to the original ground condition.

16.0. INSPECTION AND TEST

16.1. GENERAL

Contractor shall be require to arrange test and inspection to copper teh


specification requirement.
The test are clasified to tow of test as production test and field test.

16.2. PRODUCTION TEST.

Production test shall be peformed for all equipment ensure that all Equipment is
consistent in quality and performance with the requerements of this sspecification
The prodution test shall consist of a production inspection System test and
continuous opertion test as follow.

1). PRODUCTION INSPEDTION

Each items of completed equipment supplied as an integral part of system


aunder the contract shall have mechanical and electrical inspection.The
mechanicalinspection will include a visual examinations to determine
compliance with the applicable specification covering fabrication requerement
such as streng and rigiditi,type of component abnd material class of insulation
layout of chassis panel and wiring finish etc,the electrical inspection shall
include observation and review of test which the contrctor shall perform to
detrmine compliance with the aplicable specification (including those of the
Contractor) cvering electrical requerements and performance.

2). SYSTEM TEST.


SECTION 3-1 AIRFIELD LIGHTING SYSTEM

Each Complete system shall be tested to ensure that each subsystem and the
total system are fault-free and conform to the requerement of this specification
within the tolerance.

3). CONTINUOUS OPERATION

Equipment shall be subyect to a minimum of 48 consecitive hours heat-run


operation as the final step in production test before the equipment is packed for
shipping.in the event of a filure during the test,corrective action shall be
taken.the contractor shall advise the engineer of the cause of any failure and the
corrective action taken. Final approval by the engineer shall be required before
theequipment shipping.
16.3. FACTORY ACCEPTANCE TEST

The test shall be made at the contractors factory and on his responsibility in the
presence of the employers representative.
The contractor shall bear the cost of transpormation of the employers
respresentative from to thair hotel, fron/to indonesia by normal fare,and dally
allownce covering hotel acomodation,food and dailly expenses.
The minimum number of representative are as follow :
Lighting and control system: 2 Persons.
The notification of the test and submission of the test procedures shall be
submision at least one month in advance.

16.4. FIELD TEST.

The contractor shall ferform all field test to insure that all the system are
functioning well and perform all the requirement of this specification.

1). SUBMISION OF TEST METHOD PROPOSAL

The contractor shall prepare and submit the field test method including data
form,etc at least 30 days before the field test.

2). COMMISIONING TEST

a. Commisionong test of the system shall be carried out after it has been
installed and tested.NO commisioning test shall be commenced without
prior approvalof the engineer. The contractor shall conduct the
commisioning test which, however,shall be caried out under the direction
of the engineer.
b. Should the system or any portion there of field under test to give the
performance required,then any Further test ( S) which my be considered
neccesary by the engineer shall be carried out in similar manner,but the
hole cost of the repeated test (S) shall be borne by the contractor.

3). FLIGHT TEST

Airfield lighting system shall be subyect to fliht test by the employer this test
shall conform to those set out in the ICAO manual doc.8017.Annex 10 and 4.
Engineer will make arrangement for the flight test.Durrung flight test to be
carried out by the employer,the contractor shall make available site his

personal for the purpose of assisting the engineer to carry out the check
smoothly and satisfactory.
In the event of res-leting by flight to be conducted by the engineer as a result of
any such defect,the C contractor all make availlable the site his personnel who
witnessed the initial fliht check.
Final acepptance hall be done after the completion of the fliht test.

17.0. TRAINING SPARE PART , TOOLS AND MEASURING EQUIPMENT.

17.2. TRAINING

1). Contractor shall provide training for the employer staff on the maintinance,
Adjustment and repair of main item of equipment offered.
2). Factory training of not less that 14 subtantial days period shall be carried out
and completed before commencament of installation.
Number of trainee for the operation control equipment : 3 person.
3). Site training of not less than 14 subtantial days period shall be carried out and
completed before the commisionong and flight test.the number of trainees is as
follow :
Control Equipment : 5 person
Field equipment : 5 person

17.3. SPARE PART REQUIRED

1). FUCES : Comprising all types,kinds and sizes used in and required for each
equipment item foreach system,and in quality equivalent to not less than one
hundred persent (100 % ) of each type requered for work as intalled.
2). LAMP Comprising all types,kinds and sizes used and in requered for each
equipment for each system,and in quality equipvalent to not less than one
hundred percent (100 % ) of each type requered for worj as inatalled.
3). LIGHT FIXTURES :
a. Required : all type as installed for work under this contract,except
aerodrome beacon and illuminated wind direction indicator.
b. Quantity each type : Equipvalent to 5 percent of total number of fixtures
units installed,but not less than 2 units.

4). ISOLATING TRNSFORMERS

a. Requered : All types as installed for work under this contract.


b. Quantity : Equivalent to 5 percent of total number of set installed.

5). FILTERS

a. Required : All types as installed.


b. Quantity Each type : Equipvalent 5 percent of total number of units
installed,but not less than 2 units.
