1. Use the CBRT (Trkiye Cumhuriyeti Merkez Bankas) website, and

(a) Show that national income identity holds for each year

Gross Domestic Product


= Final Consumption Expenditure of Resident Households
+ Government Final Consumption Expenditure
+ Gross Fixed Capital Formation + Change in Stocks Stock
+ Exports of Goods and Services - Imports of Goods and Service

(b) Plot the share of each component of GDP


(c) Use the same website to calculate the growth rates of both quarterly and annual real
GDP

2. Obtain the annual real GDP per capita in Turkey annually since 2007 from the following
data sources and plot the growth rate of the data (if these websites do not provide the per
capita real GDP but only total real GDP in the country, use population gures from TIK
to calculate the per capita values)

(a) TIK (Trkiye Istatistik Kurumu)


(b) OECD Statistics (or, optionally, from the World Bank Data)

3. Use World Bank Data to compare the GDP per capita in Turkey and the GDP per capita
in US, both measured in current US dollars
