...the WORLD TRADE CENTER attack. The LONDON bombings. The


MADRID TRAIN bombings. The BALI NIGHTCLUB suicide bombings.

The nature of warfare has changed.

The open battlefield has been replaced by


surgical terrorist strikes on civilians.

DARKNESS RETURNS, but not for long...

...three SMALL LIGHTS switch on in a trident.

To gather the intelligence necessary


to prevent these attacks, the National
Security Agency formed THIRD ECHELON.
A HUMAN FACE materializes behind the lights now...

...strong jaw, tight walk, aiming a SILENCED PISTOL.

Though its very existence is denied by


the U.S. government, Third Echelon deploys
elite combat units known as SPLINTER CELLS to
seek out and prevent terrorist strikes...

The SPLINTER CELL OPERATIVE stops before us now...

...scanning with his electric-green TRIDENT GLASSES.

...by any means necessary.

And now he moves on, OUT OF FRAME...

...and the TITLE sears onto the screen:

1 EXT. DHAKA, BANGLADESH - ESTABLISHING - DUSK 1

A tangle of GRAVEYARD CROSSES appears against a shimmering


orange sky. Hundreds of them, jutting up at all angles...

...the CAMERA PULLS FOCUS to reveal the graveyard crosses


are actually the BARE MASTS of several boats, docked on the
BURIGANGA RIVER before the setting sun.

LOCATION: DHAKA, BANGLADESH


LOCAL TIME: 16:46:29 HOURS
OBJECTIVE: ABDUCT TERRORIST MASSUD HASSAN

The CAMERA pushes into the city towards an old warehouse.

2 INT. OPERATING ROOM, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - DUSK 2

Were in a room the size of a tractor trailer, glaring bright


beneath white FLUORESCENT LIGHTS. A MAKESHIFT OPERATING ROOM,
pieced together from odds and ends...

...bleeding-edge technology mixed with salvaged scrap. PLASMA


SCALPELS sit on top of MILK CRATES. The lights flickering.

CLOSE ON - MASSUD HASSAN

lying on a table as FOUR ARAB SURGEONS work frantically on


his right forearm. Hassan is a handsome man, but theres a
sadness in his eyes...
...its almost as if his soul died long ago and now only the
shell remains. With a singular purpose. And determination.

Hassans lieutenant, YAKOUB, stands near his head. Dressed in


a tailor-made DORMEUIL SUIT. Four ARMED GUARDS line the metal
walls. KALASHNIKOV RIFLES glistening in the stuttering light.

A young, wide-eyed SURGEONS ASSISTANT helps soak up the pool


of blood beneath Hassan. This is SADIQ AL-QUMAR. Hes nervous
about something...

...sweating profusely and repeatedly checking his watch.

All of a sudden, Sadiq notices Hassan. Watching him like a


hawk, even though hes under anaesthetic. Theres a hidden
intention in Hassans face...

...he almost smiles at Sadiq the way Caeser might have smiled
at Brutus. And it scares the living shit out of young Sadiq.

He discreetly empties a BOX OF GAUZE into a trash can...


...then shows one of the busy surgeons the empty container.

SADIQ
(subtitled, Arabic)
I need to get more gauze.

The surgeon nods, impatient. And Sadiq peels out of the room,
pulling off his RUBBER GLOVES. Anxiously passing the guards.

INTERCUT WITH:

3 EXT. CEMETERY, NEW JERSEY - DAY 3

Ten thousand miles away, we come upon a funeral...

...a SMALL CROWD gathered around a BLACK CASKET thats about


to be sent into its open plot. A PASTOR is speaking, although
we cannot hear the words.

Neither can SARAH FISHER, a beautiful teenage girl. She sits


in front of the casket, her delicate eyes stained with tears.

4 INT. MACHINE ROOMS, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - DUSK 4

Back to the warehouse in Dhaka. We FOLLOW Sadiq as he passes


through a labyrinth of shadows and industrial machinery. The
last rays of sun glaring through cracked windows...

...six PAKISTANI GUNMEN wander the cavernous space, staring


at Sadiq warily as he shuffles past them down the corridor.

5 INT. STOREROOM, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - DUSK 5

He enters a storeroom. The ceiling above Sadiq is swathed in


shadow and crossed by innumerable beams and pipes. We catch a
SHADOWY MOVEMENT between the pipes...

...panther like, a momentary trident-light gleam there. Sadiq


does not think to look up. Scanning the shadows, whispering:

SADIQ
Please... Where are you...?

Theres a SOFT CLICK behind Sadiq...

...he spins around, nothing behind him.

But when he turns back, hes confronted by the frightening


specter of SAM FISHER. The Splinter Cell Operative we saw in
the opening frames...
...the paragon of the 21st Century warrior. Calm. Silent. And
efficient. Hes standing in front of Sadiq, half-concealed in
the shadows.

SADIQ
You must abort the mission. Hassan,
he knows. Somehow he knows --

FISHER
Calm down, Sadiq.

SADIQ
It is too easy, I tell you --

-- without warning, Fisher SLAMS Sadiq into the wall...

...the young mans not hurt, but hes sure silent now.

FISHER
Did someone tell you he knows? Or
is it a feeling?

SADIQ
(confused)
Feeling?

FISHER
What does your gut tell you?

SADIQ
My gut? My gut does not speak --
FISHER
Do you have proof, Sadiq?

SADIQ
No.

FISHER
Then the missions on. Get back in
there. Go.

SADIQ
You will not leave me with them.

FISHER
Im not gonna leave you. Im gonna
extract you right after Hassan.

Fisher all but shoves Sadiq out of the room...

...then he climbs the wall, disappearing into a pipe.

6 EXT. CEMETERY, NEW JERSEY - DAY 6

The PASTORs still going at the funeral in New Jersey. Sarah


glances at the conspicuously EMPTY CHAIR on her left...

...then whispers bitterly to her AUNT KATHY on her right:

SARAH
I cant believe hes not here.

AUNT KATHY
Im sure hes doing something
important.

Sarah scoffs, whats more important than this?

7 INT. CHEMICAL PIPE, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 7

CLOSE ON - SAM FISHER

crawling through an old, used chemical pipe. TRIDENT GLASSES


leading the way. He comes upon an opening above the operating
room, looking down on Hassan...

...he can also see Sadiq back in here. Helping the surgeons
with their operating instruments. Fisher peels back. Quiet.

FISHER
Fisher in place. I have eyes on the
target. Mission is a go.
He has no mike, no headset...

...he seems to be speaking to nobody.

8 EXT. MILITARY BASE, GERMANY - ESTABLISHING - NIGHT 8

A sprawling American military base camps under night skies.

THIRD ECHELON MOBILE HEADQUARTERS


RAMSTEIN AIR FORCE BASE, GERMANY

9 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 9

In a secure underground room, THIRD ECHELON STAFFERS wearing


MICROPHONED EARBUDS type furiously at keyboards and stab at
touch-sensitive screens...

...theyre tracking satellites and scouring noise for signal,


while pony-tailed, wizard hacker, DERMOT BRUNTON, scans lines
of data on his monitor.
Other monitors around him show SATELLITE SURVEILLANCE IMAGES
of Dhaka. And several shots from hacked SECURITY CAMERAS...

...sitting near him at her own station is ANNA GRIMSDOTTIR,


an attractive, no-nonsense communications expert. She scans
FISHERS VITALS, watching the WAVE FORM accompany his voice.

FISHERS VOICE
Cut power on my mark.

ANNA
(into mike)
Roger that, Fish. Arm the charge on
the power grid now.

10 EXT. ALLEYWAY, DHAKA - NIGHT 10

A battered van sits in an empty alleyway near the industrial


warehouse. Night has fallen now and the van is hard to see.

11 INT. EXTRACTION VAN, ALLEYWAY - NIGHT 11

Field Runner, VERNON WILKES, primes a REMOTE DETONATOR in the


back of the van. A STEAL GURNEY lies waiting beside him...

...as a field runner, Wilkes is responsible for co-ordinating


equipment and transportation for Splinter Cell. Hes a little
bookish, not a combat operative.
WILKES
Charge is armed. Awaiting signal.

12 INT. OPERATING ROOM, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 12

Back in the operating room, Sadiq glimpses something as the


surgeons work on Hassan. Something theyre doing to him has
put a chill down Sadiqs spine...

13 INT. CHEMICAL PIPE, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 13

...in the pipe above, Fisher checks his SILENCED PISTOL.

FISHER
Cut power in three...

14 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 14

IRVING LAMBERT steps up behind Anna, sipping a coffee as they


listen to Fisher give the count. Lamberts the Operations Co-
ordinator of Third Echelon. This is his mission.

FISHERS VOICE
Two...

15 INT. EXTRACTION VAN, ALLEYWAY - NIGHT 15

Wilkes gets set with the REMOTE DETONATOR...

FISHERS VOICE
One.

...and Wilkes keys the switch.

16 EXT. CEMETERY, NEW JERSEY - DAY 16

Sarah cries painfully as the CASKET begins to lower. We hear


the CRUNCH OF GEARS throughout the following sequence...

17 INT. OPERATING ROOM, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 17

Theres a DISTANT POP. And all of the lights in the building


expire. Everybody goes still. Hassan closes his eyes with a
content smile...

...while one of the surgeons quickly finishes the last suture


on his right forearm. Sadiq crouches in the darkness. Yakoub
notices this and smells a rat.
The battery-powered surgical monitoring equipment BEEPS and
PINGS frenetically. Distracting the four ARMED GUARDS...

...none of them see the grenade that drops from the pipe.

A BLINDING FLASH OF LIGHT accompanies a SONIC BOOM.

The surgeons and the guards are stunned...

...CLICK-CLICK! One of the guards drops dead.

A neat DOUBLE-TAP to the head from Fishers pistol.

The guards begin to shout, panicked. A KALASHNIKOV FIRES. The


brief MUZZLE-FLASH illuminating the room for just a moment...

...and we get a glimpse of Sam Fisher.

CLICK-CLICK! A second guard falls.

A FLASH OF RAZOR-SHARP STEEL...


...and a third one collapses.

ANGLE ON - YAKOUB

drawing his pistol, but not using it...

...he cant even see the killer in the room with him.

Instead, Yakoub sets his sights on Sadiq whos cowering in


the corner. Yakoub snatches the traitor and hauls him out.

CLICK-CLICK! The last guard falls...

...the surgeons scramble to find a light.


8.

One of them opens a CELL PHONE, illuminating the room in an


eerie BLUISH GLOW. All four guards lie dead where they were
standing just seconds ago...

...but most terrifying of all: Hassan has vanished! Snatched


from them right under their noses. They gaze at the doorway.

18 EXT. CEMETERY, NEW JERSEY - DAY 18

...and the CASKET comes to rest six feet under. Sarah stares.

19 INT. MACHINE ROOMS, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 19

The six PAKISTANI GUNMEN shout and call to each other as they
search the shadows and corners with their FLASHLIGHTS...

...they dont notice Fisher swiftly scaling a ladder above


them with Hassan in a firemans carry over his shoulder. He
cracks open a hatch in the roof.

20 EXT. ROOFTOP, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 20

Fisher runs silently across the rooftop with Hassan over his
shoulder. Heading for an alleyway between the next building.

21 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 21

A computer monitor displays the rooftop from above, mapped in


GPS contours. A FLASHING BEACON moves steadily across screen,
identified as SAM FISHER...

...the beacon converges with another, labeled UNKNOWN.

ANNA
(into mike)
Youve got a tango climbing up the
ladder in front of you.

22 EXT. ROOFTOP, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 22

The tango is a BENGALI GUNMAN scaling a ladder outside the


warehouse in the alleyway where Fisher is directly heading.

All of a sudden, TRIDENT LIGHTS peel over the edge...

...peering down at the gunmen on the ladder.

CLICK-CLICK! The gunmen dies instantly.


9.

His body starts to fall as his limbs go slack...

...but Fisher grabs him by the collar and drags him onto the
roof. Tucking him away in the shadows where nobody will see.

23 EXT. EXTRACTION VAN, ALLEYWAY - NIGHT 23

Wilkes waits nervously out the back of the van. The doors are
open, the gurney waiting inside. Wilkes scans the streets...

...as a PAIR OF FEET lower down behind him.

He whirls around to see Fisher lowering Hassan on a ZIP CHORD


from the rooftop above. Wilkes quickly grabs the terrorist...
...strapping him onto the gurney with Fishers help.

FISHER
Wheres Sadiq?

WILKES
Yakoub marked him. Hes gone.

FISHER
I know he got marked! I asked where
he is!

24 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 24

Brunton hears this and taps his keyboard, rapid-fire.

BRUNTON
(into mike)
Sending co-ordinates to your OPSAT.

25 EXT. ALLEYWAY, DHAKA - NIGHT 25

Fisher gets Sadiqs location on the OPERATIONS SATELLITE MINI-


COMPUTER mounted on his wrist. He glances in the direction...

FISHER
Sir, youre gonna have to give me
two minutes.

...he glances at Wilkes whos shaking his head, dont.

26 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 26

Lambert knew this was coming, growling back at Fisher:

(into headset)
Negative, Fisher. Your asset is
compromised. The job is done.

FISHERS VOICE
But, Sir --

LAMBERT
Hassan is the mission. Extract.

27 EXT. ALLEYWAY, DHAKA - NIGHT 27

Wilkes starts the van, but sees Fisher hesitating...


WILKES
You cant save him, Sam.

...but Fisher just grabs an SC-20K ASSAULT RIFLE off the seat
and darts back towards the warehouse. Wilkes mutters a curse.

28 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 28

They see FISHERS BEACON moving away from the van...

LAMBERT
Goddammit!

BRUNTON
Empathys a bitch.

...we notice Anna watching the beacon, deeply concerned.

29 INT. MACHINE ROOMS, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 29


CLICK-CLICK! A PAKISTANI GUNMEN falls...

...as Fisher fires the SILENCED SC-20K. Sprinting through the


shadows of the warehouse, his trident NIGHT GOGGLES lowered.

LAMBERTS VOICE
Sadiq is a dead asset! You will go
back to the extraction point!

FISHER
Sir, I gave him my word.

Fisher silently shoots two more gunmen...

...hurrying through the endless maze of machinery.

30 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 30

Lambert is seething at Fisher...

LAMBERT
(into headset)
Youre in a zero positive situation
in there, Fisher! Abort now or Ill
Protocol Six your ass!

FISHERS VOICE
Thirty seconds, Sir. Thats all.

LAMBERT
(pause)
Initial Protocol Six.

...dead silence falls in the room.

Lambert glares across at Brunton...

BRUNTON
Yes, Sir. Initiating Protocol Six.

LAMBERT
Read the statement.

ANNA
Cant we just wait thirty seconds?

BRUNTON
Data wiped, Sir. Incineration of
sub-dermals upon your command.

LAMBERT
Read the goddamn statement, Anna.
...and Anna reluctant pulls up a screen to read:

ANNA
(into mike)
Sam Fisher, you are hereby advised
that mission 2-9-9-0-Alpha has been
terminated...

31 INT. MACHINE ROOMS, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 31

Her voice crackles through a COCHLEAR IMPLANT in Sams ear...

ANNAS VOICE
...by the Operations Co-ordinator.

FISHER
For Chrissakes, Grim! Im fifteen
feet away from him!

...he peers around a door, racing against time.

32 INT. EXTRACTION VAN, ALLEYWAY - NIGHT 32

Wilkes listens to Annas trembling voice on his own implant.

ANNAS VOICE
All data on this mission has been
destroyed...

He stomps on the gas and begins to circle around.

33 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 33

Everybody watches Anna read the statement...

ANNA
(into mike)
You are not now, nor have you ever
been an employee of the government
of the United States --

FISHERS VOICE
I have a visual.

...all eyes jump to a CLUSTER OF BEACONS on a monitor.

34 INT. GARAGE, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 34

Fisher peers through a window in a wall, spotting two YEMENI


GUNMEN torturing Sadiq in the beams of their FLASHLIGHTS...
...the young man is SCREAMING for his life, terrified.

Fisher automatically raises his rifle on the lights...

...when all of a sudden, the FLASHLIGHTS shine on the window,


blinding Fisher. Sadiq glimpses Fisher through the glass.

SADIQ
(calling)
Hassan has his hammer! Hassan has --

-- BANG! Yakoub fires a shot into the back of Sadiqs head...

...trying not to let the blood splatter his nice suit.

CLOSE ON - FISHER

watching Sadiq collapse to the ground...

...for a split second his face becomes Sarahs.

Then his body hits the floor.

And reality returns...

...bullets SMASH through the window and pepper Fishers FLAK


JACKET. Knocking him back. Yakoub yells at the two shooters.

35 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 35


Everybodys glued to their screens, watching AERIAL SATELLITE
IMAGES of the warehouse. From above, they see just how fucked
Fisher really is...

...hes surrounded on just about every side. Tangos closing


in on his position everywhere -- like wolves to the lamb.

FISHERS VOICE
Grim, get me the hell outta here!

ANNA
(into mike)
Theres a door to your left. Take
it. Theres a window in there.

36 INT. BATHROOM, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 36

Fisher charges through the door into a bathroom. Spots the


window on the wall. Climbs onto a toilet. Opening it...

...but there are bars on the fucking window!


FISHER
There are bars on the window!

37 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 37

Annas horrified, doesnt know what to say...

...several UNKNOWN BEACONS swarming towards him.

ANNA
(into mike)
Behind you!

38 INT. BATHROOM, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 38

Fisher turns just as several ARAB GUNMEN swarm into the room,
spraying him with AUTOMATIC GUNFIRE. Fisher ducks for cover.

39 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 39

Third Echelon watches the fire-fight unfold on their monitors


in a strange alternate reality sort of way. Could this really
be happening?

Lambert stares at the FLASHING BEACONS sadly...

LAMBERT
Burn the sub-dermals.

ANNA
No, wait. He can still make it.

...but Lambert clearly doesnt think so.

40 INT. BATHROOM, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 40

Back in the bathroom, Fisher hurls a FLASH-BANG...

...the grenade detonates at the feet of the ARAB GUNMEN and


disorientates them a moment. Fisher slides across the floor
and turns his SC-20K on the BARRED WINDOW.

He triggers the 40mm GRENADE LAUNCHER...

...and half the goddamn wall incinerates!

41 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 41


Everybody watches the HEAT BLOOM on their screens.

LAMBERT
What was that?

BRUNTON
Ballsy.

42 INT. BATHROOM, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 42

Fisher hauls himself up as the dust clears. The ARAB GUNMEN


ducking back out of the bathroom for cover as Fisher lunges
out the gaping hole in the wall...

43 EXT. INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE, DHAKA - NIGHT 43

...and Fisher dives out, landing in a roll. Showered in glass


and other debris. He doesnt miss a beat. Running away fast.

44 INT./EXT. EXTRACTION VAN, STREETS - NIGHT 44

Wilkes races through the dark city streets in his van with
Hassan unconscious in back. He pauses at an intersection...

...startled by the sudden appearance of Sam Fisher.

He hauls himself inside, battered and bruised. But alive.


WILKES
You are one lucky asshole.

FISHER
Yeah...

And with that, Wilkes drives off through Dhaka...

...and we HOLD ON: FISHERS FACE. His mind elsewhere.

45 EXT. CEMETERY, NEW JERSEY - DAY 45

The crowd files away from the grave now. Sarah folded in the
arms of Aunt Kathy. We notice the HEADSTONE on the grave...

REGAN MARGARET FISHER


BELOVED WIFE OF SAM
MOTHER OF SARAH

...the HEADSTONE sits there, cold and stoic in the breeze.

46 INT. THIRD ECHELON HQ, MILITARY BASE - NIGHT 46

Anna punches in some commands on her COMPUTER MONITOR and a


window pops up on her screen. Two blessed words...

MISSION SUCCESSFUL

...she sits back in her chair and breathes a sigh of relief.

FADE TO BLACK:

In the darkness, a title bleeds onto the screen:

47 EXT. FISHERS HOUSE, NEW JERSEY - DAY 47

Morning. A modest two floor house sits under patches of snow


in a New Jersey suburb. A 1996 BRONCO parked in the driveway.

48 INT. KITCHEN, FISHERS HOUSE - DAY 48

CNN plays on a kitchen shelf TELEVISION while Fisher cooks


breakfast. Hes actually juggling several meals at once...

...EGGS on the stove, BANANA BREAD in the oven, WHEAT BREAD


in the toaster, and a HOT POCKET in the microwave. He even
pours a BOWL OF CEREAL and leaves the milk out next to it.
He hears FOOTSTEPS coming down the stairs...

...and he quickly lays all five meals on the counter.

Sarah stops when she reaches the kitchen. Shes dressed for
school in jeans and a jacket. BACKPACK over her shoulder.

SARAH
Whats this?

FISHER
Breakfast.

SARAH
We having people over?

FISHER
I made you five different things. I
want you to eat, Sarah.

She rolls her eyes, unimpressed...


...he ignores her attitude, continuing:

FISHER
Ive got eggs. Scrambled well. Just
how you like it. Hot banana bread.
Toast. Cereal. Even a hot pocket.
(smiles)
Pick one. Or two.

Sarah just grabs an apple from the fridge...

SARAH
Im gonna be late for school.

...and shes out the door before he can stop her.

Fisher watches her walk off down the icy footpath. He sighs
wearily, dumping the eggs into a TRASH CAN. Glancing at...

...the television which displays a photo of MASSUD HASSAN.

NEWS ANCHOR (ON TV)


Officials have just confirmed the
high-profile capture of Egyptian
terrorist, Massud Hassan, a little
over two months ago. The Pentagon
claims Hassans capture is a major
a victory in the war on terrorism.
(pause)
He is currently being interrogated
in an undisclosed location.
CUT TO:

49 INT. INTERROGATION ROOM, THIRD ECHELON HQ - DAY 49

SMACK! A MILITARY INTERROGATOR punches Hassan in the face...

...hes bloody and weak, but smiling defiantly. Strapped to a


chair in an interrogation room. His blood all over the floor.

HASSAN
(to the interrogator)
A martyr will paint your doors with
the blood of your family.

Lambert watches impassively, drinking his coffee...

50 INT. MONITORING STATION, INTERROGATION ROOM - DAY 50

...while Anna and Wilkes watch the session through a TWO-WAY


MIRROR in an adjacent room. Brunton monitors Hassans blood-
pressure and heart rate on a LIE-DETECTOR.

LAMBERT (THROUGH MIRROR)


What is your hammer?

HASSAN (THROUGH MIRROR)

Hassans vitals remain perfectly flat...

Brunton stares at his monitors, frustrated.

BRUNTON
Its like hes got ice water in his

...he gives the officer some STAPLED SHEETS OF PAPER as they
head around to the back of the truck. The driver unlocks the
doors and the officer climbs inside.

The walls are lined with CHILLED FRUIT. The driver watches as
the officer checks everything off with the manifest. Its all
good. He climbs back out...

...and returns the manifest to the driver.

TRUCK DRIVER
(French accent)
Thank you.

CUSTOMS OFFICER
Just a second.

The officer grabs a POLE-MOUNTED MIRROR and begins to walk up


and down the truck, inspecting the chassis with the mirror...

...and the truck drivers really worried now.


ANGLE ON - YAKOUB

strapped tightly under the chassis. Hes wearing DARK CLOTHES


and his face and hands are covered in SHOE POLISH. Eyes shut.

The POLE-MOUNTED MIRROR veers towards him...

...and the officer pauses, spotting something.

ANGLE ON - THE TRUCK DRIVER

slipping a SILENCED PISTOL out of the back of his pants...

...as he watches the officer look up under the back bumper.

Yakoub remains remarkably still just two feet away from the
CUSTOMS OFFICER -- who seems to be looking right up at him.

(to the driver)
You bumpers rusted through. Oughta

The TRUCK DRIVER hesitates...

...then quickly hides his pistol.

The driver smiles back weakly, watching the officer return to
his small office. Then the driver climbs back into his truck,
heading through the open gate.

jostled about by the motion of the truck. He opens his eyes


and sees the border station getting smaller behind them...

Fisher packs their gear into the back of his Bronco down by
the docks. A STORM in brewing out at sea. Sarah watches him.

He stares at her, unsure what to say...

Back with Fisher and Hassan in the interrogation room.

SLIPPERS, making sure the doors are locked and the lights are
off. She draws a shade down over a window...

...then gets an odd feeling. Curiously lifting the shade back


up to find herself inches away from Yakoub. Looking in at her
as he pastes a strip of clear PACKING TAPE over the glass.

Before Aunt Kathy can run or scream...

...he fires a SILENCED PISTOL. The bullet strikes her between


the eyes, making a clean hole in the taped, unbroken glass.

Sarahs sneaking a cigarette in her room. She hears a DULL


THUD downstairs. And she quickly stubs out the cigarette...

Sarah plummets down the narrow chute, landing in a pile of


DIRTY CLOTHES on the floor below. She lunges to her feet...

terrified. Her world imploding. She hears FOOTSTEPS charging
down the stairs. And she runs.

Grabbing Aunt Kathys CAR KEYS by the door...

...and bolting outside. She frantically unlocks the car as
Yakoub appears in the doorway. Sarah quickly leaps into the
car and starts the engine.

Glancing back at the house...

...to see that Yakoub has gone.

She glances back the other way to pull out only to find that
Yakoub is standing next to the car, staring down at her...

...he SHOOTS out the window.

Sarah SCRAMS as glass showers her.

The terrorist UNLOCKS the car door and pushes her across the
seat. Grabbing her by the back of the head, he SLAMS her...

...into the dashboard. Knocking her out cold.

Satisfied, Yakoub shifts into gear and calmly drives off down
the street. A DOG BARKS somewhere. Otherwise, all is still...

100 INT. HASSANS CELL, THIRD ECHELON HQ - NIGHT 100

CAMERA TRACKS FAST WITH FISHER down a long row of cells. His
face is pure fire. Lambert and the others pursue him...

...as he eventually reaches Hassans cell. Hassans waiting


near the cell door. Fisher grabs the terrorist, choking him
through the bars.

FISHER
You sonuvabitch! Ill kill you!

playground on the base. The sun is setting behind them...

Yakoub pilots a small MOTOR BOAT through a swirling dawn mist


out on the Hudson river. Sarah lies at his feet, HOG-TIED and
GAGGED. Her hair matted with DRIED BLOOD...

...she tries not to look at Yakoub, tries not to move at all


as if maybe lying still might somehow keep her alive. Yakoub
glances at her, then checks his watch.

He cuts the motor suddenly...

...letting the boat drift in the fog.

All of a sudden, an enormous WALL OF STEEL materializes out


of the murk behind them. The bow of a merchant ship. Almost
running them over.

Sarah screams. Yakoub almost falls.

He shouts something Arabic up into the fog. And a response


follows. Seconds later, a ROPE LADDER drops down to them.

103 INT. STOREROOM, MERCHANT SHIP - DAWN 103

Untied and ungagged, Sarahs thrown into a storeroom aboard


the ship. Yakoub locks the WATERTIGHT DOOR behind her...

SARAH
What do you want with me? What have
I done! Let me out of here!

...she looks for an opening. Just a blacked-out PORTHOLE and


a crude toilet. Sarah collapses on a stack of LIFE RINGS and
begins to cry softly.

CLOSE ON - TWO U.S. SPECIAL FORCES TROOPS

stand on alert outside the Third Echelon building. SPECIAL


FORCES SOLDIER #1 glances aside at a noise, weapon up...

...behind him, SPECIAL FORCES SOLDIER #2 is silently yanked


into the shadows. Vanishing in the brief moment it takes his
partner to check the noise.

As he glances back, Fisher launches at him.

Fisher prowls through a VENTILATION SHAFT, moving vertically


and horizontally with ease. An incredible display of stealth
and agility...

...he reaches a WALL REGISTER through which he can see the


entire SPLINTER CELL TEAM. Fisher draws a SILENCED PISTOL.

Then he gently UNSCREWS the register...

...hesitating briefly, before charging out.

The SPLINTER CELL TEAM never sees him coming. Bursting out of

Fisher flips down his TRIDENT GLASSES and gazes at the flimsy
POTATO SACKS and SOILED LOCAL FLAGS being used as curtains...

...we switch to FISHERS POV as he studies the house with his


THERMAL VISION. The curtains are now transparent. The various
rooms painted in the strange blue and red of heat signatures.

We search from window to window, the RESIDENTS inside looking


like walking blobs of heat. Theres much erratic movement...

...we see HEAT BLOOMS everywhere. People rushing about. Three


BODIES lying down on beds. White-hot signatures. One persons
pacing back and forth, hand to his head as if on a phone.

of the FLOORBOARDS loose and silently climbs up inside...

when she turns to see Fisher in the room. He lunges at her in

eyes saying he wont harm her. Now Fisher jams a WOODEN CHAIR
under the handle of one door.

Then approaches the other, the one that slammed shut. Fisher

his CELL PHONE in what appears to be a bomb-making factory...

...there are explosive materials everywhere. And EMPTY CANS


of CESIUM-137 lying scattered around the floor. The yellow
and black TREFOIL SYMBOL stamped large.

If Estobar was having a bad day before, his night just got a
whole lot worse. He draws a shiny COLT AUTOMATIC but Fishers
way too fast for him...

...wrestling the pistol away with one hand while his other
keeps his ASSAULT RIFLE squarely in the young mans eyes.

rivers beneath the jagged LIMESTONE PEAKS. The CAMERA FOCUSES
on a sprawling MILITARY COMPLEX on the citys periphery...

...there are HUNDREDS OF CHINESE SOLDIERS guarding the place,


eyes on the streets and the river that runs alongside it.

quietly, sharing cigarettes. Both of them carry AK-47s...

...the moment they walk on, Fisher emerges from the water at
their feet. Climbing onto the bank like a snake. Armed only
with his SILENCED PISTOL which is by his side.

He quickly scales the fence...

...leaping onto a tangle of pipes.

Fisher braces himself in the shadows as another pair of


SOLDIERS wanders past below. Then he begins to climb up
through the pipes...

...some of them are hot enough to sizzle his gloves.

More than sixty feet off the ground, Fisher reaches a catwalk
which runs to a building. He climbs out underneath he walkway
towards it...

...freezing halfway across as a CHINESE SOLDIER crosses the


catwalk above, smoking a cigarette. The soldier finishes his
cigarette and casually drops it.

The CIGARETTE BUTT falls through the grid...

...onto Fishers face. It burns dangerously close to his skin


but he cant move while the soldier is standing right above.

Finally, the soldier walks on...

The scientist smiles, pleased with himself...

CANNISTER EXPLODES. Dousing them in a cloud of darkness.

By the time the COOLANT clears, the EMERGENCY LIGHTS have


switched on. The three CHINESE SPECIAL FORCES remove their
goggles to find that Colonel Hu is gone...

...taken right out of their midst. They make calls on their


radios and charge down the corridor. Screaming with rage.

of the warehouse again. Yakoub opens the door, talking with

and the cop turns and walks away. Yakoub watches him warily,

Yakoub and the two Syrians spread out, checking the aisles of
machinery in the warehouse. Their weapons prowling ahead...

...the CAMERA FINDS SYRIAN GUNMAN #1 turning into one of the


aisles. Machines rising either side of him like a canyon. He
pauses in the middle.

Above him, we see Fisher balancing...

...legs split apart, one foot on each side.

He drops straight down on top of Syrian Gunman #1. Brutally


slashing open his neck with a COMBAT KNIFE. The Syrian falls
but Fisher catches him, laying him down gently.

ANGLE ON - YAKOUB

who hears something behind him. He darts into the aisle next
to him. Finding only the DEAD BODY of Syrian Gunman #1...

...a stab of fear checks Yakoubs gut. He looks around but


sees only shadows. Glancing up at the machines, he seems to
realize something now.

He hears a sudden SCUFFLE OF BOOTS nearby...

...and he charges into that aisle with his pistol.

Theres SYRIAN GUNMAN #2. Dead on the floor in an expanding


pool of blood. Yakoub promptly gets the hell out of here.

drone CRASHES down through the levels into Hassans cell...

EMERGENCY LIGHTS flicker on, shedding a dull glow on the dust


and debris of the cell block. Anna and Brunton search through
the thick haze...

...the TARGET DRONE is sticking straight up out of the Third


Echelon building. The bloody mess of Hassan crushed beneath.

Brunton helps Lambert out of the wreckage...

...while Anna digs out Wilkes and the Marines.

All of them are bleeding and bruised. Staring at the grisly


scene before them. HASSANS FEET the only parts visible.
BRUNTON
Well, you gotta admire the accuracy
of that guidance system.

392 INT. GARAGE, INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE - NIGHT 392

Meanwhile, Fisher staggers back to Sarah. She runs to him and


almost knocks him down as she throws her arms around his neck
and cries against his chest...

FISHER
Did you deactivate the bomb, honey?

SARAH
I think so.

FISHER
Good girl... You make your father
proud. Real proud...
...he holds onto her for dear life.

DISSOLVE TO:

393 EXT. CEMETERY, NEW JERSEY - DAY 393

CLOSE ON - SAM FISHER

staring at the grave of his wife. Sarah and Anna hang further
back, letting him say goodbye in private. He transfers a kiss
from his fingers to the headstone...

...then he stands, taking one last look. And now he turns to


Sarah and Anna. They walk with him back to his parked Bronco.

Sarah gets in behind as Anna joins Fisher up front...

SARAH

FISHER

They share a look which Sarah notices...

...she smiles to herself as they drive off.

PULL BACK ON: Fishers Bronco pulling out into the morning
traffic. And disappearing into the sprawling city beyond.
