Preface

"It's no accident my husband and I found you Brad. We had heard how great you
are with the kids and wanted you to work with our son. What you have
accomplished with him in a few short weeks is nothing short of astounding. You
saw greatness in him in the first few minutes. You pushed him to do Drive, Chip,
& Putt. He was scared to death nervous and he loved it. He qualified for the golf
team on his first try. He has a whole new circle of great friends all because of
you. What we didn't tell you is our son has had trouble fitting in; finding his
place; finding his direction. Our son has even contemplated suicide on more
than one occasion. I tell you this not to have you change your approach in any
way. We just want you to know we believe you likely saved his life. We couldn't
be more grateful to have come to know you and for giving us our son back."

Acumen

The game of golf and the golf swing by their mere presence as an achieved motion are both
SIMPLE by thought to feeling over mechanics. Mechanics implies a process focusing on points
and positions. There are no points or positions in the golf swing as the swing is indeed a circle;
an ellipse. There is but ONE point in a circle and that is the circle itself. In the case of golf, the
golfer and a swing are as one and are the same integral component to creating a circle that
repeats for all clubs and golf shots. There shall never be an attempt by the golfer to ever strike
the ball!

The golfer needs only the ability to feel to improve quickly at golf. Where feel might be
drawn to question by the player, sight as a humans #1 sense will override feel to give validity
to change.

A teachers thorough understanding of the Ball Flight Laws is crucial to creating immediate and
lasting changes to any golfers swing. But knowing such also demands that each student
understand those Laws based on simple physics and geometry. The golfer MUST become a
student of their own swing; no longer guessing but knowing a change in feel on the next shot.
The teacher must be able to convey precise thoughts to generate required feelings to produce
immediate and lasting shot results. There are not many people who can effectively teach
feel in a golf swing to produce immediate results. I take extreme pride in being one of the
few who can.

Sadly, when asked why people leave the game of golf, most cite time, cost, and the game
being too difficult. The game and the swing are not difficult While devices are available that
produce data based on a golfers swing, they really only serve to validate what a good Swing
Instructor/Coach will see with their own eyes AND the golf ball will validate by how it flies. In
the end, swing data is needless clutter that complicates the learning process for well over 90%
of the golfers in the US and takes the golfer away from a feel based move. I cringe at the
stories I hear of golfers who quit the game because learning was too technical for them.

The golfer can NEVER try not to make a mistake in golf. The golfer makes a mistake not by
choice so the remedy MUST be a feel based motion by thought that is the exact opposite of
the mistake being made. Once the perfect shot is struck, you have their undivided attention
and commitment to the overall change.

In the end, ours is a means to an end; make the golfer better NOW and not a student for life
with little or no improvement. If done correctly, not only will they be inspired to come back to
gain even more from their game but you will have created a friend for life.

Evaluation of Performance/ Letters of Recommendation
The measure of a good teacher transcends far beyond giving a lesson to a student. I must gain
perspective of how each person thinks; what they do for a living and how their job impacts
their thought process; how they react to change; how much time they can or will devote to
getting better at golf. In addition, their knowledge of the golf swing up to this point and to
what degree they will accept new information to perform better.

For beginners/novices, its essential I be able to assess what other sports the golfer has played
in the first practice swing and then explain the differences between what they were taught
from other athletic motions. I can take someone who has never held a golf club, build a swing
in 20 minutes, and have them hitting the ball beautifully. In that first beginner lesson for the
ladies, the average is around 100 yards for a 7 iron and 140 yards for a driver. The men
average 140 for a 7 iron and 200 yards for the driver.

For intermediate and recreational players I take pride in being able to ask for a couple practice
swings and then list the exact shots theyve been hitting that are giving them problems. That
gives credibility to the instructor and the student gets excited something really good is about
to happen. Its essential to eliminate the clutter theyve been focusing on previously that is
ruining their swing and their progress.

For advanced players, I use video in all cases. The student must be able to see their static
mistakes as well as the feel based adjustments theyve made are in fact producing the desired
results. Extreme care must be paid to processes used in preparation for a shot, practice,
preparing for an event, and managing their game and their mind around the golf course. Its
rather enjoyable when we become as one and I can tell a student exactly what the ball is going
to do before they make a swing.

In each of these skill sets, I perform extremely well in producing fast and lasting results while
always maintaining an emphasis on simple, non-technical information.

A standout teacher realizes that growth of the game is as crucial to success as teaching
individual students and that growth comes not just within Section but all throughout the US
and worldwide. I conduct 10-20 junior three day camps and as many Get Golf Ready classes
each season. Many of my juniors have such a great time with new friends they ask Mom & Dad
to attend a camp 2-4 times over the summer to continue their development. GGR classes are
tailored to specific social sects in Couples, friends, co-workers, relatives, and league partners.
Specialized coaching packages have been designed for better players that include family goal
setting sessions with parents and Letters of Recommendation for college coaches.

A standout teacher is an integral cog within the facility and their community. My marketing
programs are designed to increase incremental golf course, range, and F & B revenues. I take
5
pride in getting beginners into the game affordably with good, low cost equipment and making
them aware of play specials throughout the area. I extend my services at no charge for a
variety of charity events each season that gives me name recognition and a new stream of
students. Referrals are the best form of free advertising and I enjoy a high rate of referrals
from current and past students.

On a worldwide scale, a good teacher must have a social media presence and be involved in
forums designed for growth of the game. I am currently admin/moderator for seven large
groups online where we share ideas for growth of the game and simplifying the learning and
playing process of the game. My Fix Your Slice Drill on YouTube has now touched 1 million
golfers worldwide and has many of them elated at seeing their slice vanish immediately and
shooting the best scores of their lives.

5.3 million women have left the game of golf in the past 10 years. Moms control 94% of the
household buying decisions. If you can get Mom excited about golf she will bring the entire
family. Ive taken great care to create women golfers through other innovative avenues and
recapture those who have left the game due to time, expense, or not getting any better.

To this end I feel Ive performed exceptionally and am always assessing new and innovative
ideas to be the best Growth of the Game Teaching Professional I can be.

Letters of Recommendation
September 10, 2016

TO: Central NY PGA Special Awards Committee

I had started golfing many years ago and even though it was never consistent, I always managed to
do fairly well whenever I did go out golfing (I was lucky to be fairly athletic). And over the years, my
golfing became more and more sporadic to the point that in the past 5 years I hadn't golfed at all. I
had been retired for a few years and with my activity level slowly decreasing, I decided I really
needed and wanted to renew my golfing interests. I somehow had the idea that if I took a couple of
lessons and joined a league my golfing capabilities would come back. Sadly, this didn't happen and I
actually walked away from the league I had joined and was very close to giving up golfing altogether.
This after I had taken lessons from TWO different golf pros nearby who were unable to improve my
golfing game.

Then, after discussing my dilemma with a friend, she highly recommended Brad Patterson, the golf
pro at Foxfire Golf Club. She told me he was VERY good and given this, I decided to give it one last
try. To my TOTAL amazement, Brad in just a few short lessons, turned my game totally around and I
regained my love AND my confidence in golfing.

I then joined another golf league and my golfing improved to the point that I was the top league scorer
for the season and I even golfed a 36! I am absolutely thrilled with the results and can't praise Mr.
Patterson enough doing what 2 other golf pros were not able to do. Once again I LOVE golfing and
am also getting MANY compliments about my golfing from other people out on the golf course! The
other day, one of the workers at the golf course I belong to, HIGHLY praised my golfing as he was
waiting for me to finish a particular hole he had been working on. Not only is Brad extremely
knowledgeable about the game BUT, more importantly, he is able to somehow, almost magically,
transform that knowledge VERY QUICKLY to all his students.

He absolutely deserves the award of Teacher of the Year! His dedication to the game and to helping
others is obvious to all of those who know him. Had our paths not crossed I likely would have given
the game up forever. Im so ecstatic they did!

To: Central New York PGA Special Awards Committee

I am writing today to endorse Brad Patterson for Teacher of the Year. Brad has been my sons
golf coach for almost two years now and in that time frame we have seen a huge improvement
not only in his game but his knowledge of the game. Brad has shown Ryan ways to improve
his game without having to rely on gimmicks or gadgets. Simple changes in his swing, his
stance and movement have allowed Ryan to achieve great success on the golf course. He has
improved his rankings not only in Section 4 High School Golf but also in the Central NY Jr
PGA. He was confident enough to try the Hurricane Tour which has led him to playing in VA,
OH, NJ and PA. Ryan for the first time qualified for the NYS High School Golf Tournament at
Cornells RTJ Course and made it into the semi-finals which was a huge accomplishment and
confidence boost for him. Ryan has also accumulated 2 holes in one in competition under
Brads guidance which is unbelievable in itself.
The biggest reason my son enjoys having Brad as his coach is his no nonsense approach. For
every action there is a reaction and Brad takes the time to explain that when you do this you
will get that. This allowed Ryan to understand why he has a hook or why the balls goes here
instead of there. This is huge as in the past the coaches he has had would only tell him do this
or that without the explanation. Ryan is planning on going to College for the PGM program at
Campbell University to continue to learn and one day teach the game that he loves so very
much. I truly believe that us finding Brad and having him coach Ryan has created Ryans desire
to do just that. Weve never seen our son possess such a passion for success as he has since
Brad has been working with him.
One last thing, we travel an hour and a half to get lessons from Brad because we truly believe
in his methods and theories on golf. We believe that in order to have a child learn you have to
have a person who can relate to them and bring out the best in them. Brad has that ability,
regardless if the student is his or not. We have seen him offer tips to students because he was
there and saw something that could help that produced immediate results. That to me is a
true teacher and professional of the game that he obviously loves.

Sincerely,

Michelle Clark

To: Central NY PGA Awards Committee
In the summer of 2015, my golf game had reached a new low. I was so frustrated. Every time I went out on the golf
course, I could not hit a single shot without shanking, hooking, or skulling the golf ball. My mind was mentally worn out
from the sport and I had given up all hope in continuing to play golf. It just wasnt fun or enjoyable.
In August, I had one of the worst rounds of golf in the 11 years that I had been playing the sport. Throughout the day, I
was so mad and frustrated that I broke every single club in my bag except for my driver, my 4 iron, and my gap
wedge. My golf life was over. I had shot 128. A week later I spoke to a guy who told me not to give up and told me to
call Brad Patterson. He said that he was a pretty special golf doctor and could fix anyones game to make them better at
golf.
Labor Day Weekend, I called Brad. I was so psyched just from our phone conversation I went out and bought a new set
of Callaway irons and went to my first lesson with Brad the following day. Brad told me to take a couple of practice
swings and hit a few golf balls on the golf range so that he could analyze my swing. Brad immediately saw the potential,
the strength, and the quality of my golf game even though I didnt hit a single good shot. He explained to me exactly
how my game was about to be transformed into something I could be proud of going forward. He showed me how the
club needs to react to body rotation and how it releases with a drill of his. Suddenly, the ball began going straight and
long. Within hitting ten golf shots at the range, I realized that I found the solution to my golf game, and that was Brad
Patterson. I kid you not! In that first lesson he added 50 yards to my 7 iron and more than 100 yards to my driver!
I didnt even hesitate to sign on for a coachs package of instruction. Throughout the course of my lessons, Brad not only
worked on my golf swing, but he educated me mentally on how to focus and how to prepare to hit the shot that I
wanted to hit. He showed me how to change my stance so that I was squared up with my shoulders and that my ball
position was in the correct spot so I could accurately hit the golf ball in the most pure form that I have ever hit a golf
ball. Instantly, I saw results in my putting, my driving, my iron game and my wedge game. I went from hitting a driver
100 yards left or right to hitting a driver on average more than 285 yards dead straight. Brad showed me how to hit a
draw and a fade with my driver. Before working with Brad, I had no idea how to hit a 60 degree lob wedge. My game
inside 75 yards was so bad that sometimes it would take me 3 shots to get it on the green and after Brads instructions I
could hit my 60 degree wedge from 100 yards and in and the ball would be within 15 feet of the flag. Before starting my
lessons with Brad, my iron game was so bad that I could only hit a 9 iron 90 yards, a 7 iron 130 yards, and a 5 iron 150-
160 yards out. Now, after my lessons with Brad, I hit a 7 iron 200+ yards accurately, an 8 iron 190 yards out, a 9 iron
175-180 yards out, and a pitching wedge 160 -165 yards out. He says these are extremely long yet it feels so natural.
Before meeting with Brad, when I was done golfing I was not only mentally exhausted, I was physically exhausted from
swinging so many times and hitting so many bad shots that I was ready to give up on the sport that I once loved. Thanks
to Brad, he rebuilt my confidence in my golf game and in 2016, I was shooting in the 70s - 80s for 18, and in 9 holes I
shot a 34 with 7 pars and 2 birdies. Almost every time I go out golfing after taking lessons with Brad, I hit birdies, I hit
pars, and Ive even had a couple eagles on par 5s. I also have come close within a couple inches of getting 2 hole in
ones on par 3s. Besides all of the facts and positive outcomes that I have stated above, the biggest reason why I would
recommend Brad Patterson for this award is because he not only gives you positive results, but he truly defines what a
golf teacher and mentor is to all of his students. He checks in with me often to make sure I am keeping a proper balance
of my business, my golf practice, and playing on the golf course. He cares about making people better, so they can keep
prospering in the greatest game ever played.
Brad Patterson is a polite, enthusiastic, knowledgeable golf instructor who deserves this award for his patience when
people are struggling the most. I am recommending Brads golf instruction to anyone that would like to improve their
game and would also like to meet a great person. In the spring of 2017, I as well as my fianc, will be continuing golf
instruction with Brad Patterson so that I can keep improving my game and so that my fianc who is a beginner in this
sport can learn the fundamentals and the focus that Brad Patterson taught me. Thank you Brad for everything that you
have done for me, for others, and for this game of golf that we love so much. You are truly the man and I look forward
to working with you in the future. I wish you good luck with your golf award.
Thank you so much for allowing me to share my story and see continued success come Brads way,
Jeffrey Smith

These two deals ran concurrently in 2016 and resulted in 142 new lesson clients. Format was a
lesson session for two with each hitting separately while the other watched. Whether league partners
or family, friends, each was given simple, straight forward tendencies to watch for in their partner to
help them when they played, practiced together. The program was once again successful as it led to
55% of the clients purchasing additional instruction beyond the discounted deal session.

Get in the Game for just $499 complete

New for 2016 and continued in 2017. A brand new set of clubs with bag, bag stand, head covers, a
series of five lessons, one dozen balls, tees, and TWO rounds of golf with cart (gift card). TWO
people can get in together for just $199 more.

The emphasis of the program is to break the price barrier that exists today that golf and golf
instruction is too expensive for people to play the game. It provides an avenue for beginners to get
from the parking lot to the golf course in a simple, seamless manner with my guidance through the
entire process.

Coachs Cash

In my 3 day Junior Camps Ive found my students respond to incentives to

do well and be attentive. Ive begun using Coachs Cash to reward
participants for doing well in mini competitions on putting, chipping, pitching,
and answering relevant questions to the game and the golf swing. At the end
of the camp they can trade in their cash for gift cards from Dunkin Donuts,
GameStop, Target, and Toys r Us, as well as Finding Dory Water Bottles
and Spongebob Golf Balls. Students are allowed to roll over their Coachs
Cash to a future camp. 2016 saw a 40% increase in YOY camp participation
as a direct result of the program.

Get Golf Ready/Junior Camps

Beginning the game of golf can be a daunting task in learning a swing, the
game, and the rules. I have adopted a low level approach for beginners that
creates more FUN and eliminates some of the overwhelming components
inherit with the game.

Adult beginners, as well as juniors, are taught to play every shot off a short tee. The mind processes
a SWING better when the ball is slightly suspended. Otherwise, when on the ground the player
automatically thinks they have to chop at it to get it in the air, or they top every shot and easily get
frustrated. They are given mini goals of teeing the ball a bit lower over time until they can
consistently take a divot under the tee. Then they graduate to playing the ball as it lies! (Short pitches
and chips are played without a tee from the beginning).

Expanding on the PGA Tee It Forward Program, all beginners and juniors permit themselves to play
the 100, 150, and 200 yard markers as THEIR PERSONAL teeing ground. Just tee it up from there in
the fairway and go. 6 each of Par 3, Par 4, Par 5 holes. Once theyve mastered that, they now move
back to where the rough ends and the beginning of the fairway starts. Tee it up there. Then when
theyve graduated that level they are ready to move back to their appropriate tee markers. My
students have found this to be the greatest thing since sliced bread! The game is manageable and
more fun!

Additionally playing off of Play Golf Americas Its OK Rules students are taught to follow the same
with respect to the rules. If you swing and miss, Its OK! Dont count it and try again. If you go in the
water or out of bounds Its OK! Drop another ball where it went out of bounds or on the other side of
the water without penalty. It doesnt matter who hits first. Just play Ready Golf. And finally, if she
beats her husband at golf Its OK to post it on Facebook and crow about it!

Student Practical

As a value added approach to my instruction business I am providing lesson evaluations &

assessments for my students to refer to as needed. Here is an example of two brothers, Ben &
Corey, who play for their high school team. They came together for a one hour lesson. Both
were hitting the ball beautifully by lesson end

Student: Ben Stevens

Problem: Inconsistent; Missing fairways and greens; topped shots

Static (Pre-Swing/Address) Faults & Conclusion:

1. Student is lining up 50 yards right of target. As a result, his body is blocking his full release to the target. Student has instilled
a FLIP through impact to attempt to get the ball online. Ball would either go dead right (where he was aimed which is actually
dead straight), or would pull hook it left.

2. Student has hand/grip separation between both hands. This separation enables the flip to occur.

Address Fixes:

1. Student MUST use clubs, alignment sticks on the ground and TRUST the feeling of being lined up 30 yards left on every shot
will produce a correct result. Use the NEW alignment technique I displayed that creates perfect alignment every time

2. Student MUST get the right hand on top of the left as much as possible at address so it can NOT overtake the left hand and
flip the face over through impact.

In-Swing Faults & Conclusions:

Student makes an aggressive, athletic move. However, it is MY professional opinion that at some point in the past, he made an
over the top attempt to keep up with his brother in distance. As a result, his body has taken on an inherent "SELF-BALANCING"
MOVE THAT IS DETRIMENTAL to hitting the ball squarely. It results in SEVERE spine angle straightening on the down swing
as evidenced in these pictures

2. From the pictures shown, student can readily see in Picture 4 that the club face has been "flipped" through impact and is
traveling LEFT of target. Result is MANY pull hooks if not topped shots and contact on the toe end of the club.

FIXES & PRACTICE REGIMEN:

1. Student MUST "FEEEEEEEEL" the left shoulder turning downward on the back swing to maintain spine angle throughout the
back swing.

12
2. Student MUST have the sensation of driving the left hand downward throughout the through swing and have the
FEEEEEEELING he is going down into the dirt to get through the ball.

3. Crucial to student's success is that he eliminate the hand flip through impact. This ONLY happens with the FEEEEELING he
is spanking the back of the ball with the flat of his right hand. This is also achieved by FEEEEELING like he will hit a PUSH shot
for the near term.

SIDE-NOTES:

1. Ball goes left and hooks - student has resulted to old swing habits
2. Student hits big push to right. Student is likely lined up dead right again at address
3. Student hits TOE of club. Student is still raising spine through impact but not as dramatically. Student needs to continue to
FEEEEEL like he is hitting the inside corner of the ball.

Student: Corey Stevens

Problem: Inconsistent; Missing Fairways and Greens

Static (Pre-Swing/Address) Faults & Conclusions:

1. Student has a SEVERELY strong right hand position (under the club) at address. As a result, student drags the club UNDER
plane halfway back in back swing. Student knows this to mean it results in "BEING STUCK" on the through swing. Student is
CORRECT in this assessment. Student must flip the club to attempt to square the face back up to target. The result is many
snap hooks

2. Student immediately realizes he also is lined up 30 yards right of target at address. This immediate change to address
produces instantaneous straight iron shots

Address FIxes:

1. Student MUST take care to get proper feet alignment FEEEEELING left of target. Use of clubs or alignment sticks in practice
is crucial.

2. Student MUST go weak in the right hand at address, right hand more on top of the club so it cannot flip the club over through
impact. Right hand TOO STRONG and result will be a flip with the club face dead shut at impact.

Each line represents where the "V's" of each hand are pointing ( A V is the crease formed by the thumb and index finger.
BOTH should be pointed between the chin for a weaker position and the right shoulder for a strong position at address. I want
yours at your right shoulder.

13
The pictures clearly show that the student had BOTH V's pointed outside the right shoulder at address. However, through
impact, the RIGHT V is now pointed at the student's torso. THIS MEANS THE CLUB HAS BEEN FLIPPED AND IS DEAD SHUT
AT IMPACT!

3. Student's driver swing CLEARLY demonstrated he was playing the ball position a FULL six inches ahead of the left heel in
placement. This means the ball will be contacted while traveling left with a closed face. This results in a PULL-HOOK VERY
LOW in almost all cases. Student MUST use alignment sticks or clubs on ground to create perfect left heel ball placement.
Student WILL IMMEDIATELY FEEEEEEL like the ball is back in the middle of his stance. It is not.

In-Swing Faults & Conclusions:

Student saw path of club below and realized club was going UNDER PLANE. Club slightly inside line on back swing. Student
then saw club STUCK behind him...

Student was then ADVISED to FEEEEEEL like he was going to hit an intentional fade. BY DOING SO STUDENT WILL
RESTORE HIS MAXIMUM WIDTH TO HIS BACKSWING AND NEVER HIT A FADE.

Student will see HERE the results of THE FEEEEELING of hitting a fade.

NEW POSITION NOW AND PERFECTLY ON PLANE!

NOW YOULL UNDERSTAND WHY SUDDENLY YOU WERE HITTING DEAD STRAIGHT BOMBS WITH THE DRIVER!

14
FIXES & PRACTICE REGIMEN:

1. Student MUST get set and commit to stance feeling lined up 30 yards left of target.

2. Student MUST use alignment sticks or clubs perpendicular on ground for validation of alignment AND BALL POSITION
ESPECIALLY WITH THE DRIVER ON THE LEFT HEEL. Use the NEW alignment technique I displayed.

3. Student MUST eliminate flip though impact with resulting right hand change in weaker position at address along with the
following SIDE-NOTES.

SIDE-NOTES:

1. Student indicated to teacher he ONLY associates change with the left side, left hand, left shoulder. In this case, STUDENT
MUST FEEEEEL like he is going to hit a push on every shot with LEFT HAND leading.

2. When in fact push does begin to show up down the road by achieving maximum forward shaft lean with hands in the correct
position, student is then, and only then, advised to fire away with ZERO CONCERN for feeling a push shot.

The club will then be allowed to release naturally and be square every time.

This is by far the greatest golf tip 6 minute video I have ever watched in my life. I had a wicked slice and could not keep
the ball in the fairway and would hit my drives about 160 to 180 yards. I adjusted my grip like shown in the video hit a
bucket of range balls and now I'm actually playing golf hitting all the fairways and I've added easily 50 to 60 yards to my
drive. Thank you so much for the stellar tip!!!!!! I should add I watched the video this morning...that quick!!
Cody Mefferd1 month ago
Hi Brad, I have watched many videos to try and fix my slice and none of them have worked. I came across your video and
figured I'd give your drill a try and it worked like a charm. I no longer slice the ball on every drive and my drives travel 15-
20 yards farther and straight down the fairway. Thank you so much!
jacobphillips171 month ago
Thanks Brad for this video. It helped me stop slicing my shots within 5-10 balls on the driving range. Can't wait to try it out
on the course!! Easily the best and most simple tip i have seen on youtube so far! Thanks again
Mark Lopez1 year ago
After seeing all of the comments left in this video about how this drill has made an immediate impact in improving the golf
swing, I decided to give it a try. I went to the range a day after watching this video and well..I had the best range session I
have ever had. I have only been playing for about 7 months so my swing is very inconsistent. After using this drill tip
before hitting a bucket, I felt like a range super star. I was hitting the ball flush and with a slight draw with all my clubs,
pitch thru driver. I am looking forward to translating my new improved swing onto the course! Thank you for the tip! Much
appreciated!

Woooooow!!!!!!! I just finished doing the drill and my contact sound and feel is soooo awesome and my shots are straight
and long.......thanx soooo much Brad..
Grant Diamond1 year ago
WOW. I've tried a lot of slice fixes but this one takes the cake. Did this three times before hitting an iron and started puring
them better than ever. Phenomenal. Will try now to incorporate it into my pre shot routine
Daniel Brown1 year ago
Exceptional explanation. I'm a 7 handicap but have never fully trusted releasing the club. Today I did the drill prior to all
my swings and controlled the flight under pressure hitting consistent draws. I'm a fan and believe this is better than all the
other "myths" out there. I will say that you have to commit to turning the club over and it will not let you down. Great tip!!
Jeffrey Ulrich1 year ago
Thanks so much, Brad. I spent one week practicing your drill.......The results on the course were AWESOME......Every
ball strike was "true and straight".... I was obviously using a baseball swing enhanced with a Pro "lag" swing....Thanks
again..!!!!!!

sought me out for advice. We spent time together looking at videos of his swing and his
putting. More importantly, we spent time changing his thinking patterns not only on the golf
course but in the days prior to a tournament.

17
His next event was his Champions Tour debut at the Shaw Charity Classic. As you can see, he
started off 5 under through 5 holes with a hole in one. He would go on to make the cut and
also made the cut the following week.

Additionally, he also qualified and competed in The Senior

PGA Championship, US Senior Open Championship just last
month, PGA Club Professional Championship where he
earned a T-5 to qualify and compete in the PGA
Championship. He was named the PGA National Senior
Player of the Year late in 2015. In a Detroit Free Press article
on winning Senior Player of the Year, Brian credits his
improved performance to I was in a bad place. Other people
have helped me recently and particularly finding a better
way of thinking my way around the golf course.

Michael Duplessis

Mike was considering quitting golf for good due to years of pain from
knee injuries. After much discussion with me, Mike opted for knee
replacement surgery. With new pain, Mike sought my swing advice. A
15 minute lesson was all it took. He then proceeded to reel off EIGHT
hole in ones (three on Par 4s); five double eagles; two 30s, three 29s,
and 10 scores of 60-64. While playing in a tournament I spotted a new
issue. We spent another 15 more minutes together. Four days later he
was putting on #9 in league for a 26. Mike is 57 years old. He was a 6
handicap and is now a +3. He was featured on ESPN Golf Radio for his
accomplishments due to my instruction.

Ryan Clark

Ryans parents found me

teaching at Destiny USA. He
had been playing some CNY
PGA Junior Tour events with
little success at 95-106. He
now regularly shoots in the
70s low 80s. He had a 10th
place finish this past summer at a Hurricane Tour major event in Ohio;
his best finish on that tour and I caddied for him. He qualified for
sectionals on his high school team, and along with the awards above, was
low scorer by average for the 2016 season. Additionally he has made his
first two hole in ones in competition. Currently he is speaking with four
coaches about a scholarship to play in college.

In our second goal setting session I asked Ryan if his aspirations had
changed beyond playing golf competitvely in college. He responded, Yes,
Ive decided I want to do exactly what YOU do Coach. I want to be a PGA
Pro and teach everyone! That was 4 months ago. This arrived today. Ryan
has been accepted into the PGA Management Program at Campbell
University. I have gladly agreed to mentor him through his journey.
20
Trevor Barton
Trevor is a starter for John Brown Universitys golf team in Arkansas. He had seen his average
balloon suddenly from 73.47 to 78.36. He sought me out online and submitted videos to me
on full swing, pitch shots, and putting. I gave him the fixes for each. He reported back to me
that it worked well. He carded 12 rounds over the next 15 days scoring 68-72.

Hannah Dambrowski
Hannah came to me with her Dad on a Couples Instruction special through
CNY Central Deals. She is a 1st year player and her HS Coach let her remain
with the team to develop her game. He taught her to make the left arm as
stiff as possible, stack into her left side, and to drive her legs as hard as
possible to lag/lean the club through impact. As a result, her drives were
going 60-100 yards right and only 130 yards. She was shooting low to mid
60s for 9 holes on the golf team. Her goal when we met in June was to be
in the 50s by spring 2017.

As seen here, it is obvious she had never been taught or felt the club head
swinging AND a proper release. I sent her home with the Speed Whoosh
for a solid week. This is the result below.

Hannah now averages 210-240 off the tee. She shot her best score ever 2 weeks ago. A 42 at
The Pines. She now has a new goal to play golf on a team in college.

Jeff Smith
Jeff was referred to me by another student Labor Day of 2015. He had just recorded a 128 and
destroyed his second set of clubs in frustration. He was done; ready to quit golf for good. With
his permission, I deemed him Project Jeff on FacebookHow NOT to quit the game of golf.
I made a proclamation I would have him down to the 80s by the spring of 2016. When we
met, his drives were down to 170. His 7 irons barely 130 yards. Within 15 minutes we had his 7
irons out to 180. By the end of the lesson his drives were self proclaimed longest of my life
at 270-310 yards.

21
This is Jeff making eagle on #18 at Battle Island.
He would go on to add 3 birdies and shoot a
personal best 78 just 4 weeks after we began
working together. Project Jeff complete.

Nancy Wood

Aside from the Letter of Recommendation above that Nancy wrote, she was barely hitting her
driver 110 yards when we met. 7 iron was 70 yards. She is comfortably hitting her driver 160-
170 now and her 7 iron is 130 yards.

Dave Clement

Dave was tired of playing poorly shooting between 95-103 at Battle Island. We met last
October for a range session followed by a playing lesson. He immediately retreated to Florida
for the winter. I received a text in March he had just shot his best score evera 78 at Golden
Ocala. Brad, lets make it an annual standing date to give me some help before Florida.

Roy Daniels

Roy found me by way of

referral. Horribly inconsistent
with a severe path and
extension problem. Below
you can see the fix in just a
few minutes. Six days later
you can see the hardware he
picked up. High 80s to low
90s previously. Just recorded
a personal best 74 a couple
weeks ago.

Fran Munger
Fran has taken a number of lessons over the years from pros all around the area without any
real improvement. We met for a session and admittedly he said, My previous teachers had
22
me so focused on my equipment and never even addressed that it was me. I cannot believe
how easy youve made this. Why doesnt everyone else teach it so easy like this? Fran hasnt
broke 90 in 24 years. Six days after our session he shot 88.

Jim Mangano

Jim was in a bad way hitting the ball all over the place. His scores had ballooned to 90+ from
the low to mid 80s. In our only session he confessed I added an additional 40 yards to his
driver. A week later he stopped in the Pro Shop to tell me he had shot his age. Jim is 73.

Pat O Toole

Pat found me shooting 83-93 at Hickory Hill. We spent a series of 5 sessions together. About a
week after the lessons ended he texted me he shot his best 18 holes evera 64 at Hickory Hill.

Daniel Reiser

Daniel found me barely hitting the driver off the tee 130 yards but
driven to make golf his game. Moving here from PA, Daniel was
bullied in his school and was lost with no identity. Over the past two
seasons, he now regularly scores in the 70s and the driver is 280-
300. He qualified for his HS team on his first attempt this year and
regularly scores better than the #1 player on the team. He finally had
the chance to play first team and shot 39 in his first match. He also
qualified for the Post Standard Amateur this year on his first
attempt. He remains driven and together we will get him that college
scholarship.

Nolan Johnson

Nolan had never touched a golf club before we met. We built a swing and within 6 weeks he
was entered in the local qualifier for National Drive, Chip, and Putt. After giving baseball a try
he has now returned back to golf. However, the baseball, as a completely contrary motion to
making a correct golf swing, had taken control. Another session with him was spent getting the
baseball out and get the club head swinging correctly again. He qualified this season for the
Fulton golf team on his first try. His high 50s to 60 for 9 holes has evaporated and he is
comfortably in the low to mid 40s with some 30s in practice.

His HS Coach remarked, Brad, it is truly amazing what youve accomplished with Nolan. He
gets it now. Hes explaining his swing and ball flight laws to me! He is playing like hes
possessed. Well done!

23
Ethan Smith

Ethan found me as a freshman at West Genny. He was scoring in the high 40s to 50 for 9
holes. Three weeks later, he qualified for his HS team. We went on to work together on touch
ups each season. He went on to qualify for Sectionals all three years, shot a career low 68, and
recorded two hole in ones. He was subsequently offered two scholarships to play golf in
college but opted this fall to focus on his education and is attending Univ of Buffalo where golf
is not offered. Thanks Brad. My high school golf has been the best experience of my life
thanks to you.

Bill Sheehan

Bill found me as a high 70s low 80s player. He had a case of the shanks. Time constraints
could only allow for him to submit videos to me before a tournament. I gave him the fix. Next
event was the NYSGA Amateur Series at Tuscorora. He shot 6 under(net) and won going away.
We spent TWO subsequent sessions together. He is now in the season ending championship at
Oak Hill. He is currently #3 on the NYSGA Amateur Series Points List out of 638 statewide
participants. Brad if it ever gets the slightest bit goofy again you are my go to!

Pat Tickle

Pat was struggling and we met for a lesson. He conceded during our lesson that this is the
best I can ever remember hitting the golf ball. Next round out to play he made a hole in one
at Battle Island.his 1st ever.

Shane Murray/Ryan Polky

Shane and Ryan came to me via my League Golf Ready Couples Promotion Special. Both
were mid to upper 40s players in their respective leagues. They took two lessons together. A
week after the 2nd lesson Ryan recorded his best score ever; a 39 in league. Two days later
Shane recorded his best score ever; a 34 in league.

Diane Grygiel/ Christine Edinger

Diane and Chris also came to me through my Couples Special. Twenty minutes in to the lesson
Diane proclaimed, We both have taken countless lessons from various pros around the area
24
in our many years of playing. Never have we seen such fast and immediate results like this. We
go to camps for weeks. Now here it is in a few minutes. Why isnt everyone teaching it so easy
like this?

Larry Stackhouse

His name may be familiar as a cousin to basketball legend Jerry Stackhouse. On the local
scene, Jerry and his wife Lorraine are still reeling from the sudden disappearance of their son
Larry Jr. 11 years ago. He has never been found.

Larry Sr has his golf as his sole escape from this tragedy that still rips into him every single day.
He came to me initially by referral but now comes often to learn everything possible about the
golf swing as he attempts to put the pieces of his own life back together. Im just happy to be
able to be a part of that for him.

Pat Gillette

A 12 handicap in his league shot a personal best 38. They think Im sandbagging now Brad. I
love it!

Don Cordone

Took one series. Regularly shooting 48-53 in league cards a personal best 37. Golf is fun
again. Now I know exactly what to work on and Im going to play more tournaments with my
friends.

Brad I can definitely say with bubbling enthusiasm this is the best Ive ever hit the ball in my
life. Jerry signed himself and his son up for a season long coaching package

Deb Miles-Dillman

As the best of friends at Florida State, Deb was a member of the

Seminoles only National Championship winning team. In 1991, she
took over the reins as Head Coach of the Lady Seminoles Golf Team;
a post she held for 19 seasons. Retired now, she has found a new
love in teaching and becoming a PGA/LPGA instructor. She has
reached out and enlisted my help as mentor through this process.

Brad you helped all of us get that title back then and here you are again this many years later
ready to step up and help me personally. Ive watched in awe of your success stories online
and cannot wait to begin enjoying that same level of success with my students.

Growth of the Game: A Targeted Approach

The consensus opinion of many PGA Professionals in the business indicates the best teachers
do not solely stand behind a Tour Professional. Nor do they rely solely on their success stories
on a local level for recognition. They absolutely MUST drive the masses for growth to the
game, along with creating an atmosphere of fun and improvement across all genres of players
both in their section and on a nationwide scale through cooperatives with other PGA
Professionals. Additionally, they MUST create incremental growth for every department of
their facility. Finally, they MUST generate a high level of referrals and be a recognizable face
within their community.

To this end, I offer the following:

2011 CNY PGA Presidents Plaque for Growth of the Game; the first time the award had
been given since its inception
2015, 2014, 2013, 2012 GRAA Top 50 Growth of the Game Teaching Pros in the United
States (A division of PGA Magazine)

Annually conduct 10-20 weekly three day junior camps concluding with play on the
course. Many juniors attend 2-4 times per season and bring their friends

27
12-24 annual Get Golf Ready programs that are targeted in approach:
Couples Golf Ready; Junior Golf Ready; Seniors Golf Ready; Ladies Golf Ready; League
Golf Ready. Get Golf Ready classes are designed around specific needs expressed
rather than a one size fits all approach

Your 4

Still in its design stages, Your 4 is a nationwide Rewards program conceived by Brad
Patterson. Golfers create their life foursome for golf and social activities. As no-cost
members of Your 4, ALL four enjoy special pricing & discounts on golf related purchases
from a single purchase of products from area merchants or worldwide businesses. Much
larger rewards come from golf specific purchases and participation in PGA Programs
such as Get Golf Ready, PGA Junior League, PGA Hope, Reach, and PGA Access.

Instruction

Brad Patterson: Grow the Game Through Couples Instruction

Brad Patterson, the 2011 Central New York PGA Section Teacher of the Year, Player Development Award winner, and
a GRAA Top 50 Growth of the Game Teaching Professional, is the PGA director of instruction at Foxfire at Village Green in
Baldwinsville, New York, Battle Island State Park, in Fulton, New York, and Silver Creek Golf Club in Waterloo, New York.

Brad Patterson on the importance of growing the game through couples instruction:
This past spring, for the fourth consecutive year, I offered a half price one-hour lesson deal through our local TV affiliate,
and over 70 percent of the purchases had been made by females for their male counterparts, for use together with their
spouse or boyfriend. While some instructors may teach couples separately, I have been encouraging couples to take
lessons together by buying two of my half-priced hour-long lessons. My program empowers each one to a greater level of
improvement in their own swing and the improvement of their partner. I found that the most important aspect of the
couples lessons is to drive home the key points of each players key swing elements with their partner so they know what
to watch for when they are playing together. The three of us together is a far more powerful learning situation than just
teacher and student. The first lesson with the couples is centered around the full swing and the second is purely on short
game, which would have been missed by giving just a one-hour lesson to each person individually and invites the couple
back a second time. Once again, it provides a chance for more facility and instructor revenue growth.

Brad Patterson on the business impact of growing the game through couples instruction:
My TV affiliate program resulted in 146 instruction sessions sold, of which over 100 were couples lessons. The
opportunity to produce incremental revenue from each student is tremendous; long-lasting relationships and referrals
have been established and I, along with my facility, have been reaping the benefits. In the end, this simple adjustment has
led to more range revenue, equipment sales, additional instruction packages sold, and most important, family unit growth
of the game.

PGA Best Practices: Teaching
Brad Patterson on Teaching: Develop a Signature Drill to Spark Lesson
Business

Brad Patterson, the 2011 Central New York PGA Section Teacher of the Year and Presidents
Plaque winner, is the PGA director of instruction at Hickory Hill Golf Center in Baldwinsville, N.Y.

Brad Patterson on the importance of developing a signature drill to spark lesson business:
Any PGA Professional knows that teaching can be a fickle thing. As an expert, you want to separate
yourself from everyone else that just gives lessons. Ive found that students are very results-oriented and
tend to play less or drop the game completely if they dont see improvement. If theyre not getting better
at the game or not having fun, the chances of them coming back are slim. More importantly, they arent
likely to tell friends or family about your lessons, either. To give my students immediate results, I created
a signature drill that fixes a students swing in three balls or less. All I need is two minutes and I can cure
a bad slice by showing the student how to properly hook the ball to compensate. Ive exposed more than
2,000 students to this drill and can boast a 100 percent success rate. The students see the results
instantly and become hooked on my technique and ability to make them better quickly. The drill has
become so famous that it almost turns me into a celebrity while giving lessons. Word has spread like
wildfire and my referral business has never been better. Ive also found a way to teach golfers how to
teach themselves, and it couldnt be a quicker process. This instructional approach distinguishes me
from everyone else in the area, and my business continues to grow every day.

Brad Patterson on the business impact of developing a signature drill to spark lesson business:
Ive really tried to make myself visible in the area by doing weekly radio tips and being active with social
media outlets. Increased referrals, along with quick results and improved tournament play for students,
has translated into a 50 percent increase in lesson revenue in the past year since creating the Three Balls
or Less drill. Additionally, a local golf club pays me hourly to walk up and down their driving range to
give quick tips to the golfers on the range. I do this for about 10 hours per week, so this is extra income
that leads to increasing future lesson clientele. Many golfers struggle for years with a slice. If you can
expose them to the left side of the golf course for the first time, and do so quickly, that student will tell
everyone they know and will never have anything but love for the game going forward.
