AGENCY APPROACH

STRATEGY
We believe that 9/10th’s of the work behind any successful campaign or project is completed
before the client sees a single design treatment. Campaign preproduction is backed by
countless hours of existing data analysis, client interviews and subsequent market research.
Truly understanding what drives our client’s business and what their collective vision is for
the future of their organization allows us to work as a team to develop and implement a
detailed migration path, steering them toward greater success.

CREATIVE PHILOSOPHY
Most clients come to Battle to create or properly steward an effective brand. A brand that
will inspire both customers and employees, ignite sales, and endure the test of time. Great
brands are born of uncommon creativity and as such we put the creative function at the top
of our priorities. It is our most valuable commodity, where we derive the most satisfaction,
and the greatest gift we can give our clients.

CLIENT CULTURE
We are small, streamlined and give our time freely – we believe in relationships, in speaking
with our clients, in knowing them as people as well as business associates. We encourage
our clients to call us at home, to meet us after hours, to strike when the iron is hot. We have
found that by following very simple rules of thumb, we can ensure client satisfaction and
organizational integrity:

Never promise more than you can deliver,

but always deliver more than you promise.
Be fair. Be communicative. Be honest.
Let your work speak for itself.
PROJECT WORKFLOW
We approach all of our projects from an iterative development perspective. Iterative
development is a very simple concept. It is phased development that allows for phased
milestones, ensuring that scheduling, cross-team communication, and final deliverables are
simple, effective and easy to understand. Our multi-tiered methodology, known in house
as the “5 D’s,” and implemented through online project management tools, serves as the
development framework for all client engagements.

CASE STUDIES

3N2

3N2 was founded in 2001 by a former Nike executive and built on a simple
foundation. It would be a company for ballplayers, by ballplayers – designing,
manufacturing and selling high performance softball and baseball footwear.
3N2 enjoyed a measure of early success, being adopted by a cult following of
enthusiasts who became evangelists for the comfort and build-quality of the
product line.

Challenge
Unfortunately, 3N2 was unable to translate the passion of its management and
customer base into market success, running headfirst into financial realities that
all but crippled them in 2006. There were investor conflicts, inventory shortfalls
and severe cash management problems, all of which were negatively impacting
customer relations. Simply put, the company was a mess and the brand was in
serious disrepair.

Solution
Battle was named 3N2’s agency of record in June of 2007, and was tasked with
the comprehensive resuscitation and reinvigoration of the 3N2 brand. Battle rolled
out a top-to-bottom rebrand in late 2007 and repositioned 3N2’s marketing focus;
fully integrating online advertising, e-mail marketing, SEO, SEM and social media.
Several product lines were redefined and a range of new products for previously
unexplored segments was brought to market. Battle also worked behind
the scenes, providing ERP consulting, integration and support in an effort to
automate a full range of 3N2 business processes – from inventory and warehouse
management to accounting, CRM and EDI. Battle continues to provide a broad
range of support services for 3N2, the results of which speak for themselves.

CASE STUDIES

ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISE LINES

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is a global cruise holiday company that operates
Royal Caribbean International® and Celebrity Cruises®, with a combined total of 28
ships and a passenger capacity of approximately 63,000.

Challenge
Royal Caribbean Productions (RCP), the entertainment division of Royal Caribbean
Cruise Lines, sets the standard for cruise line entertainment and securing the very
best performers is essential to their continued success. As talent is sequestered
at sea for months at a time, turnover is high and recruitment efforts must be both
well targeted and informative enough to accurately portray the day-to-day life of a
performer at sea.

Solution
Battle provides ongoing campaign support for global recruitment efforts for RCP,
including the design and development of collateral materials, poster series, direct
mail pieces, talent databases and a high-impact website. The data-driven Flash
site has become the centerpiece of RCP’s recruiting efforts as well as a showcase
for their original shows. As a result of Battle’s efforts, RCP continues to streamline
their recruitment efforts, garner critical praise, attract the most appropriate talent
and do it all in a style that clearly differentiates them from the competition.

CASE STUDIES

MOTOROLA

Motorola is known around the world for innovation and leadership in wireless and
broadband communications. A Fortune 100 company with global presence and
impact, Motorola had sales of US $22 billion in 2009.

Challenge
Motorola disseminates a vast amount of marketing collateral. They present
themselves to many verticals, in many markets, and in many languages around the
world. To properly steward a globally recognized brand while continually breathing
fresh creative life into fixed guidelines is every corporate marketing manager’s
challenge, and finding a vendor best suited to support this effort can be equally
challenging.

Solution
Our deep corporate branding experience has resulted in three of Motorola’s largest
organizations choosing Battle to provide ongoing media and marketing support.
For more than 5 years, Battle has not only delivered an incredible range of services
including event branding, commercial spots and presentation development, but
has also served as external brand experts, effectively policing the application of
the brand in Motorola’s regions. The result? Motorola has a highly responsive and
reliable partner with an intimate knowledge of brand issues; a partner who knows
how to most effectively leverage the existing brand framework, working within
guidelines to best address individual organizational needs.

BRANDING
Two of Battle’s key differentiators are the depth of branding experience of its partners and experience
working intimately with Fortune 500 marketing organizations.

Each of our partners has been an integral part of implementing and managing the entire branding
lifecycle of a major global corporation - from the inside - and has driven the branding and re-branding
of countless client organizations, from Brazilian yacht builders to multinational software firms.

Battle has experienced and understands the challenges faced by corporate marketing
teams undertaking complex branding initiatives and knows how to best work to accommodate them.

ONLINE MARKETING
One of Battle’s primary service offerings is Online Marketing, which accounts for nearly 50% of client
engagements. Battle has deep experience in nearly every aspect of online marketing, including
e-commerce, banner and rich media campaigns, mini-site development, e-mail marketing, search
engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), and social media.

Battle is regularly recognized among South Florida Business Journal’s Top 20 Web Design and
Development firms and has been awarded numerous ADDY awards for its online marketing efforts.

Battle Backgrounder .10

Battle’s online marketing efforts are driven by UCD (user-centered design) in which campaigns are
developed to fit the usage patterns of the end user, rather than forcing the user to fit within the
constraints of a limited design.

Our user-centered design approach to online marketing projects starts in the planning stages and
blends aspects of cognitive psychology, human-computer interaction, visual and graphic arts, user
interface theory, linguistics, information design, instructional design, and color and typographic theory.

PRINT
Today, the generic term “Advertising” is widely applied to traditional print-based, advertising efforts.
For the purposes of delineating our services, we’ve adopted this convention as well. However, this is
not intended to devalue print and environmental media or insinuate that these methods are outmoded.
In fact, the positive impact print can have on client marketing efforts is real and measurable. Battle
continues to leverage traditional media to market our clients. Direct mail, catalog, outdoor, and point-
of-purchase can all serve as integral pieces of a powerful and symbiotic marketing mix.

VIDEO + 3D
It is a not-so-secret fact that a great number of pedigreed, expensive advertising agencies outsource
a large percentage of their actual client work – to companies like Battle. Video, 3D and animation in
particular, are rarely handled in-house. Battle was an early pioneer in HD video – establishing the first
non-linear HD post-production house south of Atlanta – and currently has a powerful in-house team of
motion graphic designers, video whiz kids and 3D artists that provide high-end, specialized services at
a fraction of the cost of larger agencies.
