NASA DRYDEN AWARDS FACILITIES MAINTENANCE PACT TO PRIDE

INDUSTRIES

EDWARDS AFB, Calif. - NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center has

awarded a sole-source contract to Pride Industries of Roseville,
Calif., for a wide range of facilities support and maintenance
operations at the NASA field center, located at Edwards Air Force
Base, Calif.

The contract covers a base period of two years with two additional
two-year options with a potential value of $36.49 million if all
options are exercised. The first two-year base period, valued at
about $12 million, began April 1 and will extend through March 2009.
Follow-on option periods, valued at slightly over $12 million each,
could extend the pact through March 2013.

The contract covers facilities operations, maintenance, improvements

and repairs, minor construction, custodial and grounds-keeping
services at NASA Dryden, including both buildings and associated site
infrastructure and utilities. Custodial services will continue to be
performed by Stonebridge Enterprise Solutions of Riva, Md., under
subcontract to Pride Industries for the next year. The two firms
together currently employ about 55 persons at NASA Dryden.

The majority of services will be performed on a firm fixed price

basis, with facilities repair and minor construction efforts
performed on an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity basis.

Pride Industries is a non-profit corporation focused on creating

employment for people with disabilities, and some of the employees
working under the NASA Dryden contract will be people with severe
disabilities. The firm currently employs about 3,200 persons
including about 2,500 with disabilities, providing services similar
to those to be performed at Dryden at more than 300 government
facilities and private businesses around the nation.

NISH, of Vienna, Va., facilitated the agreement between NASA Dryden

and Pride Industries. NISH is one of two central nonprofit agencies
that create employment opportunities for people with severe
disabilities under the federal AbilityOne program, the highest
preference program of contracting under Part 8.7 of the Federal
Acquisition Regulations. Under terms of that program, the contract
could be extendable indefinitely beyond the current base and option
periods if both NASA Dryden and Pride Industries are satisfied with
contract performance.
