P1/PD Mechanical Torque Limiter
How it works: The torque limiter control works simply by venting the compensator based on cam position at a given
starting point. The torque limiter cartridge (1) is threaded into the pump housing. A mechanical feedback device (3) sits
against the cam and is held in place by a light weight spring (7). Oil at system pressure is feed through a tube-line, as
indicated by the red arrow, into an elbow fitting (9) in the top of the torque cartridge. This pressure applies a force (5) on
the spool (8) and compresses the main spring (4). As the spring (4) is compressed, the spool moves toward the pump
until the cross-drilling (10) in the spool (8) moves outside of the sleeve (6) and is exposed to the pump case. This
causes the pressure in the tube-line to drop and begins to vent the compensator control which will destroke the pump.
As the pump destrokes, the feedback device (3) and sleeve (6) also move toward the inside of the pump until the cross-
drilling (10) in the spool (8) begins to close off. While the control is actively working in the torqe curve, the spool (8) will
continuously meter flow. System Pressure

The Torque Setting can easily be changed by unlocking the jam nut (11), and turning the
adjustment (2) counter clockwise to increase the torque setting and clock-wise to
decrease the torque setting. Once set, lock jam nut (11).
