Assessment
Exams: 2
Write a 5 page double-spaced paper setting forth the message communicated by mainstream
media (advertising, news stories, movies, books, etc.) about a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.
Evaluate the message communicated (social, emotional, functional) and the short and long-
term impact it could have on individuals and families living with a diagnosis. Discuss ways to
address these challenges in terms of delivery of the diagnosis, education about the disease, and
availability of services at different levels of the disease process. Consider how the Speech
Language Pathologist can add to the process in a major way and discuss/design a core role for
the SLP which is outside the current scope of the service delivery. Your paper should include a
minimum of 5 references.
