3 THE COURT: Lets go to page 13. Okay. And that is State of Nevada versus
4 Reed Anthony Norris, and that is case number C323851-1. Would you announce
5 your appearances for the record, please?
6 MR. ROBISON: James Robison on behalf of Mr. Norris who is present and in
7 custody.
8 MS. BENEDICT: Susan Benedict for the State.
9 THE COURT: Okay. And this is the time set for sentencing. Are we ready to
10 proceed?
11 MR. ROBISON: We are.
12 THE COURT: Okay. Mr. Norris, I see youre in front of a microphone. I need
13 you to use your coach voice if you know what I mean.
14 THE DEFENDANT: All right.
15 THE COURT: All right. Sir, Ive got a guilty plea agreement in front of me
16 which was filed in open court on June 2nd of 2017 indicating that you would agree to
17 plead guilty to committing the crime of Attempt Burglary, a Category C Felony in
18 Violation of NRS 205.060, 193.330. Sir, did you sign this agreement?
19 THE DEFENDANT: Yes, I did.
20 THE COURT: Prior to signing this agreement did you have an opportunity to
21 review the agreement; did you review it and understand the terms?
22 THE DEFENDANT: Yes, maam.
23 THE COURT: Okay. Sir, I adjudge you guilty of committing the crime of
24 Attempt Burglary, a Category C Felony in Violation of NRS 205.060, 193.330. And I
25 see pursuant to the agreement that the State and you stipulate that you would

Page - 2
1 complete the regimental discipline or boot camp and if you graduate and
2 successfully complete boot camp the State has no opposition to you thereafter being
3 accorded probation, the State also would not oppose dismissal of case number
4 17F08728X after rendition of sentence. And you agree to pay restitution to all
5 victims and boy, this is a gift. If you successfully complete probation and receive
6 an honorable discharge you could withdraw your plea and plead guilty to a
7 misdemeanor. That is quite a gift. And that would be with credit for time served.
8 There are other agreements set forth within the guilty plea agreement but those are
9 the highlights. And, Mr. Robison, I think that he needs to send you a gift basket.
10 Id like to hear from the State.
11 MS. BENEDICT: I will submit it on those negotiations.
12 THE COURT: He should send you gift basket too.
13 MS. BENEDICT: Well, not me but Ms. Digiacomo perhaps
14 MR. ROBISON: Your Honor, were standing by that negotiation. If the Courts
15 inclined to follow it to remind you as youve mentioned, hes only 21 years old. He
16 hopes when he when hes out of boot camp and on probation he hopes to
17 continue working in landscaping. He plans on enrolling in CSN. He does have
18 support in the community. Both his mother and his grandparents live here so he
19 does have a stable home and support structure to come back to once hes done the
20 program. Ive advised him how important it is for him to earn the reduction. He
21 understands hes to earn it and then hell have to contact our office in order to get it
22 back on after what we anticipate would be his successful completion of probation.
23 THE COURT: Okay. Sir, do you have anything youd like to say to me?
24 THE DEFENDANT: No, thank you.
25 THE COURT: Okay. You know, youre very young. And you do know that

Page - 3
1 boot camp is hard?
2 THE DEFENDANT: Yes, maam.
3 THE COURT: Do you think you can do it?
4 THE DEFENDANT: Yes.
5 THE COURT: I certainly hope so. If you do it youve got some good things
6 that can happen for you. Today I branded you a felon. You know what that means?
7 THE DEFENDANT: Yes, maam.
8 THE COURT: It means you cant vote, you can no longer sit as a juror which I
9 know some people like to get out of it but I consider it an honor. It is an opportunity
10 for you to be able to participate in helping the government and sit in judgment of
11 other people sometimes or sit in judgment of civil cases. You also
12 MR. ROBISON: Well, Your Honor
13 THE COURT: -- cant own a firearm.
14 MR. ROBISON: -- if I may. For the record, were deferring my understanding
15 is that were gonna defer the sentencing until he successful we dont want him
16 sentenced today, what we
17 THE COURT: Well, Ive adjudged him guilty of the felony. Im not sentencing
18 him today.
19 MR. ROBISON: Okay.
20 THE COURT: Okay. No, but I want him to understand
21 MR ROBISON: Okay.
22 THE COURT: -- that felony treatment is not is not cool. You can no longer
23 vote. But if you do everything I tell you to do youve got an opportunity to do some
24 great things and possibly depending on the time you might be able to vote for Trump
25 in the next presidential election.

1 Okay. This is what Im gonna do. I am going to first of all with Im
2 going to go ahead and at least assess the fees. First of all, there will be a $25
3 administrative assessment fee, there will be a $3 DNA administrative fee, there will
4 be a $150 DNA testing fee and you will submit to testing. Do you understand that,
5 sir?
6 THE DEFENDANT: I took the DNA testing before.
7 THE COURT: Theres also a fee.
8 THE DEFENDANT: All right.
9 THE COURT: Okay. You understand youve got a $150 fee?
10 THE DEFENDANT: Yes.
11 THE COURT: Okay. And there will also be a $250 indigent representation
12 fee. Do you understand that?
13 THE DEFENDANT: Yes.
14 THE COURT: Okay. Sir, I am going to send you to boot camp. And
15 depending on what if you successfully complete it the parties are suggesting that I
16 sentence you to probation. If you dont bad things happen. You understand that?
17 THE DEFENDANT: Yes, maam.
18 THE COURT: Okay.
19 MR. ROBISON: Thank you.
20 THE COURT: All right. So, lets go ahead and put it back for a, what, seven
21 month status?
22 THE COURT CLERK: Okay. That will be on February 27, 2018 at 8:30.
23 THE COURT: Okay. Well see you on February 27, 2018 at 8:30.
24 THE DEFENDANT: Thank you.
