VICTORIA: A WINNER
Victoria, the first handheld device in the
world to operate up to STM-1 is launched
early 1999.
Internetworking tests
The fact that European and American stan-
dards exist side by side in Victoria makes it
operatable in any environment. All SDH,
SONET, PDH and T-Carrier topologies can
be checked, including VC-4-4c and VC-4-16c
concatenated mappings, permitting large pay-
loads.
Total mobility
Small-sized and battery-powered, Victoria is ideal for work- Storage
ing in central office environments, as well as out in the field. Events and other parameters are stored using multi-event
cards, letting you obtain several long-term measurements
with a resolution of one second.
Touch&Play
Simplicity, ergonomics and efficiency: Victorias touch-
screens do away with the need for function keys and endless Tracing combines time plots and histograms to
menus, and last 9 times longer than a conventional keyboard. provide a summary of network defects and
anomalies. A search function lets you locate
all types of errors and alarms, as well as iso-
lating bursts and intermittent alarms.

PATTERNS
Payload contents
The following patterns can be generated:
PRBS11, PRBS15, PRBS20, PRBS23, PRBS31: normal or inverted
Word: user defined, all zeros, all ones, 1010, 1000 and 1100
Slips
Detected and counted with PRBS test signal.
RESULTS
Measurements can last up to 999 days, with automatic start/stop. They are saved with
name/date/time, the configuration of the instrument at the time of the measurement and,
if desired, a text comment by the user.
Trace
Events are shown graphically in time plots and histograms that have advanced filter, search,
identification and quantification functions, and a zoom from 1 s to 1 h.
Performance
Performance measurements in line with ITU-T G.821, M.2100, M.2101.1 and G.826.
Counter, rate, unavailability and indication of compliance with programmed objectives.
FUNCTIONS
Round Trip Delay
In all interfaces; range from 1 s to 10 s.
Autoconfiguration
Identification of the parameters of the incoming signal: bit rate, line code, optimal gain,
frame structure, mapping.
FastScan
Search the incoming signal for all kinds of errors, alarms and events.
Transparency test
Generation and analysis of PRBS pattern in DCC channels or E1, E2, F1, N1 and N2 bytes.
Bit error counter, rate and errored seconds.
Seconds with alarm counter for LSS.
APS
Measurement of disruption time for any STM-N/OC-N.
Tributaries: PDH, T-Carrier, SDH, SONET

in a state of continuous evolution, where it replaces
uncomfortable and hard-to-handle portable devices
Range: 1 ms to 10 s
Resolution: 1 ms
Frequency measurement
In Hz and bit/s with deviation in ppm, and ITU-T/ANSI in-range or out-of-range indication.

GENERAL
The dimensions of the instrument are 257 x 147 x 70 mm and it
weighs just 2.4 kg. It can be powered from the mains or run on re-
chargeable batteries. The GUI is implemented on a 12 x 9 cm color
touch screen.
SoftLEDs
10-tricolor external LEDs with on-screen labeling, showing up to 80
simultaneous events.
Environmental conditions
Operates at 0 to 45 C
Storage: -40 to +70 C
Humidity: 5 to 90%, without condensation.
