PSTN Emulation on the 7302

The ISAM 7302 voice solution involves replacement of the

splitter card with a voice emulation card and a skinny
splitter plugged in front. The complete DSL, Voice and
Splitter solution occupies two card slots.

Skinny Splitter Functions:

ADSL & VDSL2 compatible (up to 17MHz)
Skinny Splitter is an optimised design which takes
advantage of the characteristics of the ISAM POTS card.
The ISAM POTS card has been designed in an DSL
friendly manner
minimises the generation of spurious signals which
need to be filtered by a splitter.
provides impedance synthesis and loss compensation
for the mini-splitter to deliver near zero insertion
loss/insertion loss distortion, and excellent return loss
The ISAM FD Skinny Splitter provides superior
performance to conventional splitters by working in a
unified way with the POTS linecard.

Why not the 7330?

Why was the decision made not to use the smaller 7330 shelf?
7330 ISAM FTTN 10RU It only serves a maximum of 144 customers (17% of Cabinets).
It is only 33% smaller while the linecard slots drop from 16 to 8.
We know the future is growing penetration of DSL services and
eventually PSTN emulation on most lines.
We are committed to the introduction of HSNS over Copper and
Fibre which have associated ISAM cards.
It is a lower cost to install the larger shelf initially than to retro
fit one in the field with working customers in the future.
