Purification

All experience that upset our equilibrium can get trapped in our system in the form of
stress or anxiety, which prevents the natural harmonious movement of life-energy. We need
to release or unblock these stresses from all levels of our Being. To begin this unblocking,
detoxifying or purification process and bring about a harmonious environment that will
allow our body to heal and renew its self - I can think of no better crystal than Amber.

Purification has always been acknowledged as a necessary and integral part of spiritual
practice. The ritual of purification allows time for redirection of the mind from mundane
daily matters to a more spiritual plane.

Although amber is not actually a crystal, it is used by crystal therapists to quieten and relax
every level of our Being, allowing the natural flow of healing energy to begin. Amber
increases our awareness of the life-giving flow of earth energy. Its message is: relax; release,
purify that which no longer serves you to reveal your source of inner-light.

History

Amber is the ancient fossilized resin of long dead trees that grew in forests millions of years
ago. Over time, chemical and physical changes occurred fossilizing the resin to create the
amber we know and love. Recent research indicates amber ranges from 2 million to 360
million years in age. Most gem quality amber on sale varies from 5 million to 50 million
years. Its unique ability to preserve organic tissue (prehistoric life forms) is valued by the
scientific community. In ancient times, amber was used medicinally. Amber was thought to
provide sorcerers with special powers and to offer magical light for the deceased as they
progressed through the underworld.

When you rub amber, static electricity is generated. In fact, the word electricity is derived
from the ancient Greek word for amber, elektron or sun made. The common inclusions in
amber are a variety of pre-historic insects, plant debris and small animals. Preserved in
amber, the insects are visible in almost perfect condition. Amber is very soft, only 2 to 2.5.

Be aware though that pieces that contain insects may be plastic or reconstituted resin.
Copal resin is often sold as amber; ambroid is a composite of amber that is created by
heating small bits of amber at high temperatures and compressing them together. It is
frequently dyed and it is much stronger than natural amber.

Psychologically: Amber is a window to the past. It is a connector, a bridge, polarising and

harmonising the past, present and future, up-down, yin-yang, etc., clearing stored negative
emotional energy.

Mental: Amber brings balance and stability to the whole energy system, giving immediate
strength and stability to the meridian system and etheric body.

Spiritual: Amber works by filling gaps and holes within the auric shell I have always called
this auric gapping. These may be caused by illness, accident, trauma, medication, stress,
depression, shock or psychic or psychological attack. Amber is excellent for birth and
rebirthing rooms. When consciously directed amber has been known to facilitate warmth to
the whole auric field; even for those clients of mine who may have suffered for years with
cold hands and feet.

Meditation: Amber is used in past-life meditations, and to explore other dimensions.

Affirmation: I allow my body my body to purify, heal and renew itself.

Crystal Placement: Place on the solar plexus and brow chakras.

Cleansing: Sound

Strike or ring a singing bowl, bell, gong or tuning fork over the crystal for swift, effective

When amber appears in your cards, it is encouraging you to undertake a ritual of

purification. Perhaps you have been holding on to old patterns that no longer serve your
highest good. Or maybe you have been exposed to energies that are preventing you from
being centred and focused. It is time now to take a spiritual bath or shower to cleanse your
